    Hi, Sabrina! Thank you for the informaron. I will begin to do this as soon as possible. I have a green spotted puffer that is about a year old. He's very active, eats well (even does tricks to ask for food), and has very bright coloring. However, I noticed a lump yesterday on his back close to the back fin under the skin. It's about the size of a pea and doesn't affect coloration. He definitely didn't have it before. I make sure to check him everyday bc he was born w/out his right eye and hurts himself sometimes swimming into the glass (I called him Mike Wazowski 😂) It has not moved, so I'm not sure if it's a nematode. Have you ever seen something like this happen? If so, what kind of treatment do you recommend? Thanks!!!

    Sabrina, I need some advice. My two GSPs started flashing against tank ornaments with the side of their faces 2 days ago. I immediately did a 30% water change in their 60 gallon tank. Since there are only 4 Mollies and some fry, I decided to treat the whole tank because of the 1.020 environment would be hard to replicate in a hospital tank. I treated the tank with PraziPro and upped their tank temp +1 degree to 82 to speed up the life cycles of any parasites. I’m also feeding them frozen food soaked for 15 minutes in MetroPlex twice a day. They seems to be getting worse with flashing but the PraziPro instructions seem to acknowledge that things will get worse before they get better. Is there anything you would do differently or can add to this? I don’t want them to be uncomfortable. I’m planning on retreating with PraziPro every 6 days for a month. Their water parameters are perfect. Nitrates below .10 I will continue MetroPlex for 3 weeks as well. They’re eating very well, Brines, Blood Worms, Krill and 10 Ramhorns between the two every other day. They seem in great spirits but I want to make sure I get it all before I stop treatments. Have you ever had this issue with your puffers?

      I'm from Malaysia (Sabrina). I wouldn't say they're the most common fish to be found as they are oddballs. Certain species are quite seasonal but we do get a decent range of species. 😊

    Hi Sabrina, I wanted to ask you. I have two GSPs and they’re both from the same stock. They were both the same size but now one looks normal and one looks fat. I’ve had them for 3 months now and both very active and eat fine. When I first got them I treated them with Prazipro but nothing else. They seem fine otherwise, so I’m not sure if maybe I have a male and female with the female being bigger with a round belly. I keep them both with some Dalmatian Mollies and they all get along fine and all sleep on the sand together at night. The Molly just had fry and the fry seem to think the Puffers are their parents especially the fat puffer. The puffers don’t mind them at all as they sleep with the fry at night in their lair. Do you think I should treat the fat one for parasites or could this just be a female? It’s growing a lot faster than the normal bodied one. Twice it’s size even though they both eat the same amount. Thank you so much for your time 🥰

      Hi! Congratulations on the baby mollies. I notice GSPs do grow at different rates. However, just for confirmation's sake, are you sure both of them are GSPs? I would deworm them with Levamisole HCL just to be on the safe side. 😊

      @@BeFishy Thanks Sabrina for your reply. I’m very positive they’re both GSPs. They look exactly like your puffers did in your video where you gave them Cockles as far as differences in sizes. They both are very shiny and spotted and with all the characteristics and look exactly like yours. I know some pet stores mix theirs with Congos and such, but I have seen many Congos and they do look like them but mine have no connecting spots like Congos do. I will go ahead and treat with the de-wormer that you recommended (I will check your site) to take the safe road. Thank you so much! Keep the videos coming, especially on GSPs 😜

    How do they get the worms? Is garlic good for preventing them? I read that’s good to add to food sometimes. Thanks and love your voice!

    • @BeFishy
      @BeFishy  2 года назад

      Hi! Sorry, I don't understand the first question. Who gets the worms? 😅 There are a lot of discussions around garlic and its usage. I do not recommend it as much as garlic isn't any good if they're being overdosed (which new fishkeepers tend to do). I would simply stay away from it as there are other more effective ways of dealing with parasites. Garlic is, not natural to fish after all. However, you can read this article here to learn more about it and to come to your conclusion. 😊

      @@BeFishy Thank you. I've been seeing videos where either the fish get worms or they are in the water and was wondering how to prevent that. I never had that happen, but they are little white things in the water and I do not want them if I open a new tank. I was going to get one of their foods with garlic then give them other non garlic foods but some people put garlic in the water too!

    • @BeFishy
      @BeFishy  2 года назад

      @@ma797 Ahh I see. The worms you mentioned are different from the worms in this video. The worms that I am referring to in this video are parasites while the ones you mentioned are detritus worms and perhaps planaria. Detritus worms appears when the tank is "not clean" and they eat decomposing materials in your tank, like decomposing plants and leftover fish food. While they aren't harmful to your fish, they can be an eyesore when there's a lot of them! Some fish will eat them, or having a regular weekly waterchange would help. As for planaria, they can be hitchhikers from let's say when you get a new plant. Planarias can be harmful to inverts and if in a big number, to fish too. In this case, regular waterchanges and planarian meds can be useful.

    3:41 If you are deworming an Amazon puffer make sure you have LOTS of aeriation. I lost one because of anoxic conditions from the meds. I was totally unaware of this issue & relied on the aeration provided by my spray bar.

      @@jalandavidson2979 Thank you so much! As for your question, Figure 8s are indeed found in freshwater areas in the wild. HOWEVER, the waters they inhabit are very hard water. The only way to combat this is by adding some marine salt into your waters.
