- Note: there is a little bit of background noise on the audio for this episode, but it goes away after 3 minutes and 5 seconds.
This episode is being posted from producer Chris's vacation so forgive the brevity of the show notes! Des and Kara recorded this on Saturday morning in Eugene, live from the Runnerspace House. And yes... they did it from a pontoon stage! They give you event recaps from Thursday and Friday of the Trials, plus previews of the weekend's events. You can now listen to see if their predictions came true! [Don't worry... they will post a proper, full recap of the Trials next Tuesday, July 9th.]
They also announce a brand new presenting sponsor for the podcast and bring on a very special guest - new Olympian Nia Akins as a part of the Olipop Top 5.
To get your Olipop, use code NOBODYASKEDUS for 15% off at drinkolipop.com.
And drumroll please.... Nobody Asked Us is now presented by Brooks Running!
Nia Akins is a breath of fresh air. What a sweetheart. Congratulations to her.
The Kara Goucher 10K Challenge. I would totally support that. Reach out to Grandma's Marathon and see if they would be willing to put it on. Or see if Minnesota Distance Elite would want to host the event. I would buy a dozen tickets.
besties in a boat chillin is my new favorite thing!!!
Kara Goucher stays jacked!
So cool, congrats! agree, as a fan the 800 has it all...just enough distance for some strategy but fast enough to make it breathtaking to watch.
Kara saying "Suck it!" 😂
Kara is looking jacked 💪
I love this pod but, the audio was terrible. I couldn’t finish it. I’ll catch the next one
Sadly our audio man Chris was on vacation in Mex for this one! He did say it cleared up after the first 3-5 minutes. Sorry about that.
@@ddavila22 I hope Chris had an awesome vacation. My wife just found where the audio clears up. Now we’re both listening. Much love.
Great to hear. For future, if something is goofy or a little off we try and address it in the show notes, as we did with this episode. Hope that helps.
Agree on the discretionary spot. It will be political no matter how hard they try for it not to be. Falls happen and it sucks but you can’t change the rules for Mu. She looked off and hadn’t raced. Even if she was spiked, that happens all the time in the 800 and 1500.
Cranny ended up being a non factor in the 1500 and she could have ran away with the 10K had she done it instead.
There definitely aren’t enough 10K races. They took it away from Diamond league meets. It’s a great distance and should stay as a championship race.
How about taking the 5k and 10k off the track and making them road events., I personally think that would be much more interesting than watching athletes run in circles for 15 to 30 minutes.Like Kara said the marathon is not hurting for viewers I think in part because it is run on streets. Try watching, or even worse running 42k on a track.
What would you find more interesting? I find the 5 and 10 on the track to be incredibly interesting already. Moving them to the road would make it a totally different sport. Too much history on the track to take them out of the program, imo.
