The Terminator and T2 were the Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back for my generation.
The Terminator is possibly the greatest "B-movie" ever made. By that i mean, it is the greatest low-budget sci-fi ever produced. Some of the effects stand out like a sore thumb. But The Terminator is still a great inspiration for future filmmakers. Cameron showed us what can be possible on a small budget and its freaking amazing.
T2 on the other hand is the greatest action movie ever made. Cameron showed us whats possible once youve established yourself in the industry. And its freaking phenomenal.
I mean, Linda Hamilton was so great in T2, she made Sarah Connor one of the greatest, strongest, most iconic female roles ever put on film. Her Sarah Connor is right up there with Cameron's own Ellen Ripley in Aliens and Scarlett O'Hara in Gone With The Wind.

I'm glad you got a chance to see this film. When you think about the fact that your cellphone has more computing power than ALL of the computers that were used to make this film combined, you get a sense of just how much talent was necessary to pull something like this off. James Cameron is known for pushing people to their limits, and sometimes beyond their limits. He's not even remotely close to a nice Director. If you'd like to see another one of his great films, watch "The Abyss".
As for the rest of the Terminator franchise, I wasn't particularly impressed with them. Perhaps you'll have a different opinion. That's up to you to decide.
The lines in the film about the Terminator always being there for Kyle and never hurting him while always protecting him, hits a lot of people right in the feels. There are a LOT of people out there who grew up in divorced families, and often times, those people divorced again, leaving nothing but chaos as a result. I know I went through it as a kid. Seeing that the Terminator was "the sanest choice in an insane world". Given this particular storyline, this film isn't about the end of the world, it isn't even about advanced technology. It's REALLY a story about a young man needing a genuine father figure. Two other films that show the necessity of a great father figure are "Meet Joe Black" and "Field of Dreams".
Thanks for taking the time to react to this film. Keep smiling!

The Terminator is using a grenade rifle. It fires an explosive shell a short distance which then explodes.
When I think about it, Kyle is born about this time. So Sarah could look up baby Kyle and stick around in an altogether not creepy manner until Kyle is big enough.
They move slowly to build tension.
The ending is a hopeful message that we can choose to survive. We are not fated to self destruction. As Doc Brown points out, the future is unwritten. You can make it whatever you want.
The problem with all further movies is they require destroying this hopeful ending; all subsequent movies begin with we are fated to self destruction.

Hi Elena, nice to see you!😊 I am getting a sailor girl vibe from your outfit.😉 Yes, great to see you continuing your terminator journey!👏 That weapon you asked about is the M79 Grenade Launcher Arnold uses. It was released in 1960 and was first widely used by the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War. That is the same psychiatrist in the mental facility that was at the police station in the first film. Kyle Reese does appear in the "Special Edition" of this film, in one scene. There are two sets of twins in this film. Linda Hamilton (Sarah Connor) and her twin sister appear near the end in the factory. Also, the guard in the mental hospital that gets killed by the new terminator by stabbing him in the eye, appears with his twin brother. When the script was written for the film the special effects had not been invented yet. The Terminator did learn beyond his programming. He disobeyed John Connor's orders not to go. Great emotional reactions to your 2nd Terminator film, El!!!🎬👏👏👏👏 I like Terminator 3. Some people aren't crazy about it. James Cameron left as director.

Great reaction Elena like always, This is a great movie i can say that this is a perfect example of a sequel is better than the original. There are some fun facts about this masterpiece of cinema. Production took so long that Edward Furlong’s voice and height had to be altered the movie ended up taking so long to film that Edward Furlong, who plays John Connor in the film, had grown considerably taller than in the first shots he had filmed, and his voice had also deepened. This resulted in his voice having to be dubbed in the editing process. And, to keep his height consistent with Linda Hamilton’s, he had to stand in a hole in the ground in some scenes. Linda Hamilton’s twin sister appears in two scenes first in the playgroud scene as a younger Sarah Connor and in the metal works scene The T-1000 is the master of imitation and can quickly morph into anything it touches. In the metal works factory towards the end of the film, it transforms into Sarah Connor, and at one point the fake Sarah and the real Sarah are on screen at the same time. But there was no camera trickery there. The decoy was played by Linda Hamilton’s twin sister Leslie. Linda Hamilton suffered permanent hearing loss during this movie. And the Rodney King incident happened right next to filming. One night whilst filming the biker bar scene, unbeknownst to the crew, right across the street, Rodney King was being beaten badly by police officers; a case of police brutality that sent shockwaves across the globe. The incident later inspired James Cameron to write the film Strange Days. Keep up the amazing work

Most Terminator fans tend to agree that the first 2 Terminator films sum up the entirety of the Terminator saga.
You could continue, but each subsequent sequel will acknowledge the first 2 films, but not each other. They all think they're the perfect 3rd installment of the Terminator franchise. There are 6 movies in all.
If you are adamant about seeing Kyle Reese again in the apocalyptic future, I recommend Terminator: Salvation. It would be the 4th released Terminator film. -OG

So James Cameron (a friend helped him) wrote this story and directed T1 and T2. The story was too long to put it all in one movie and also there was a good span of time between T1 and T2 because the technology was not developed far enough to do the effects he wanted. IE the new liquid metal terminator. AFTER this movie, the rest are kinda fun sometimes but they are NOT the REAL Terminator story any more. Different directors and lots of stuff making money off of the name. (you can't be that adorable and do a creepy look no matter now much you try) So very sorry about that. Hi Elena, I am assuming you watched the original theatrical release. In an extended version Michael Biehn (Kyle Reese) appears in Sarah’s dreams in the psychiatric ward, inspiring Sarah to stay strong to protect their son John. The actor portraying the liquid terminator Robert Patrick, would go on to portray bad-ass characters, as a hero or villain in TV and films. Two sets of twin actors appear on this film. The psychiatric ward security guard and his copy were actual twins. Linda Hamilton (Sarah Connor) played the Sarah copy while her real-life twin sister appeared as the real Sarah Connor. I haven’t met anyone yet who has not shed a tear at the end of Terminator 2.

Robert Patrick (the evil Terminator) trained for a long time not to feel emotions - not to blink at shots, to run without showing fatigue.
And Arnold just put on his glasses.

    • @JFrazer4303
      @JFrazer4303 7 месяцев назад

The not blinking is the only part of that which is a myth.
Anyone who is taught shooting, from day one is taught to not blink or flinch or else you miss.
I was in my Army field hospital unit with nurses on the shooting range, and it's standard training.
Nurses didn't have to annually qualify with counted hits, timed like the rest of us, but any trainer would teach to practice that way, and anyone would demand some precision of themselves. Everyone else (men and women, even if not infantry: mechanic like me or truck drivers, medics or X-ray 'techs) have to prove some accuracy & precision, and blinking or flinching on shots ruins that.
The expert performance of Robert Patrick is the economical identical motions while walking or running and as you said, stone-face expressionless.
Any actor you see who is blinking or jerking the trigger or predicting the recoil and moving it very much, wasn't trained very well, doesn't know how to shoot at all competently.

Fun Fact: The guy who snaps the photos of the T-800 in the Mall after he gets thrown through the window by the T-1000 is the same guy who plays the Cop in The Terminator who the T-800 beat his head up against his car, steals it and then imitates his voice after his eyebrows are singed off. It was a film ride attraction from orlando yet it acts as the next chapter within the TERMINATOR story. The other TERMINATORS aren't up to the original standards unfortunately. 😒 But if you want to still check them out then go ahead.

    Great Reation Video.....
As leads up to this movie being released, there were commericials showing an assembly linemaking Terminators and at the end of the line they all got Arnold's Face (The Model 101)......
Sadly, a few of the commericals let the cat out of the bag that Arnold was the Good Guy this time, before it opened in Theaters..........
When it is came out and it was realized that the "Bad" Terminator was discuised as a cop... there was a lot of flack created cause the video game meant the player was "Killing Cops".......
Arnold carrying his shotgun in a box of roses was a nod to the band "Guns and Roses" who had multiple songs on the soundtrack.....
The scene where the T-1000 runs after John on the Dirt Bike leaving the Arcade had to be reshot, cause Robert Patrick sprinted so fast he caught the bike on the first couple tries..... He also trained himself to not blink when he shoots.....
The "Twirl-Cocking" of the shot gun needed a special prop..... Rumor has it that one day Arnold picked up the wrong shotgun to practice the cocking maneuver and broke a couple fingers.....
There are 2 sets of TWINS in this movie.... The Deputy at the Mental Hospital, and scenes where you see Sara twice in the the same frame (Playground, Taking chip out of Terminators head, Final Battle) is Linda's Twin Sister, Leslie.......
Jenette Goldstien (John's Foster Mom), I like calling her the "sequel queen" has roles in this, plays Vasquez in Aliens, and is the cop that gets blown up on a diving board in Lethal Weapon 2..... She rarely appears the same in movies............
Reason Sara stops from killing Dyson...... is she is starting to realize she is acting just like the Terminators and the Machines........
There are (Fan) Theories and I think there are books that state the reason there is more movies (Events don't stop), is that the research Myles Dyson was doing, it was backed-up off site and those files were not destroyed with the building........

As much as you loved Kyle, it's a shame that you didn't watch the extended version of this.
After Sarah is drugged, she dreams of him and Michael Beihn was in it for a while as Kyle. See him also in the second film in the "Alien" franchise, and in "the Abyss" also by James Cameron. You should teact to these.
The M-79 "thump gun" grenade launcher was Vietnam war era. Minimum range for the explosive shots is 14 meters to not endanger the person shooting it: To blow a door open, you'd need to back away.

The Terminator and the sequel Terminator 2: Judgment Day (one of the best sequels in cinematic history, and even better than the original, in my opinion) certainly hold up very well in this day and age. In fact, they are even more relevant nowadays with the emergence and rapid development of artificial intelligence; Sky Net and the dawn of malicious machines are right around the corner!

It's such a small part of the overall chase sequence but is actually one of, if not THE most dangerous stunt ever performed as part of a film. The weapon that Arnold loads a round into after firing once to destroy whole cars is generally called a grenade launcher. Think of a heavy, bazooka-like explosive, but lighter and with no thruster to launch in a straight line or over long distances. Some rifles have an underslung variant, for extra firepower in the field or from an individual combatant wanting to do damage from a range further than throwing a hand grenade.
