You might consider watching "Practical Magic" for Halloween. She gives a great performance in it. Dennis Hopper (the bad guy) is just an incredible actor and is in so many fantastic films. One of his crazier roles is in "Apocalypse Now" as a journalist in Vietnam. I'm glad you got a chance to see this film. Every single person that watches the bus hit the baby stroller holds their breath. Myself included. I have seen this movie dozens of times and that part never ceases to paralyze me. I know it’s not a baby. It doesn’t matter. The thought of it is horrifying.

He increased the speed of the train to make it jump the track before it got to the end, because if it had hit the end of the track at full speed it would have crashed harder at the end and been more likely to kill them. Once it jumped the track, it started slowing down quickly, so it wasn't going as fast when it hit the end. A risky move, because it might have crashed into a wall when it jumped the track and that would have been as bad as hitting the end at full speed, but it was the only chance he could come up with to maybe slow the train down before the end.
The wall is on the side. You don't hit the wall you slide along it. That is an electric subway. As soon as it's off the track it no longer has any electricity so the motors stop running and it slow rapidly. People don't seem to understand that there are redundant safety features on all elevators, very difficult for modern elevators to fall. Dennis Hopper is the bomber. A famous actor that died a decade ago. A shame younger people don't even know who he is.
At 33:16 I never really noticed before, but they could have gone left instead of right. Going right is jumping a huge gap when they just could have gone left and got on another interstate... Hmmm...🤔

Yes and no. Homelessness was less widespread, but in the areas where it was (downtown, Hollywood, etc.) It was waaaayyyy more intense. Also violent crime and gang violence were off the charts. Think about Freeway gun battles between Chinese street gangs, Russian gangsters killing each other on the West side and Chicano/ Mexican gangs VS El Salvadoran gangs.)
