  • Sewing a Vogue pattern in real time, whilst chatting to you about the most random things such as getting botox and ageing . Perfect content for your sewing session, it's as unfiltered as it's going to get!
    I call this sewing pattern "day time pyjamas" because they have such a relaxed vibe about it. Elasticated waist trousers, and a long, baggy, vest.
    This pattern is beginner friendly, such an easy sewing pattern for dressmaking.
    Hope you enjoy this sewing vlog.

    The sewing pattern I use for this sewing project is: the Vogue pattern V9375
    Fabric is from Rainbow Fabrics (I think) I can't quite remember, bought it probably two years ago.
    I am currently trying to get through my stash of fabric, instead of buying new fabric. So far it's going well! I am very proud of the progress I am making.
    About me: I’m Alexandra and I live in Oxfordshire together with my husband and our adorable daughter. I sew and make videos about it. I love creating and I want to share my progress of spending time with my craft, whether it’s sewing or other activities. I want to give you as much encouragement for your creativity and my hope is that you’ll find a lot of positivity on this channel. Lots of love, Alexandra

      Ah thank you. Yes, practice makes improvement. The weather is absolutely rubbish in the UK at the moment. Makes me feel very uninspired for sewing summer dresses. But who knows, if the sun comes out?! Maybe I will feel inspired again! Thank you for watching! 💕💕💕

      @@AlexandraBurnett well, maybe "fake it till you make it". Sometimes you have to make your own weather, if you know what i mean 😉. Maybe sewing a summer dress on a rainy day will make you feel better, but I feel you... There's been a heat wave in Poland, so not particularly perfect weather for sewing either, I sweat A LOT! But I've got a pretty important deadline aka "wedding guest dress" to make 🙈

    I got back to sewing after a break of 38 years. I bought a dress form before an Overlocker. Both are great but if forced to give up one it would be the dress form. The Overlocker is a game changer as there are so many things you can do not just finish seams. Happy Holiday and good luck with your move.

    Im 52. GET THE BOTOX! The sooner you start, the sooner the muscle will not permanently overuse in that area. I also rec you start a low dose tretinoin cream. I started very late in life, like this year, lol. If you never ever go in the sun then dont worry about it. Alex, the best sewing advice I can give you ( ive been at it for 35 yrs ) is invest in a serger. I got mine on Amazon, for $200 ( Juki Mo-50e) and it is a game changer. Have a lovely holiday!! Im editing this comment bc i posted it before you talk about not getting a serger, girl, ya gotta get one. I have a dress form, never use it but use the serger every time I sew :)

    • @AlexandraBurnett
      @AlexandraBurnett  11 месяцев назад

      I love this comment so much! If ever go for it I will let you know. I don’t go in the sun much and if I do, I use protection! I have used retinol but it really irritates my skin, no matter how slowly I took it ( I have v dry skin) so I wonder how my skin would react to tretinoin (I have heard good things about it so good you’re on it)
      How long before you have to top up Botox? That’s the main thing isn’t it? You have to keep it up!
      It seems like the comment section is really keen on their serger which only means good things!!!
      Xxx

      @@AlexandraBurnett I get Botox twice a year. I have very dry skin as well, it doesn't age the best. Keep up with the sunscreen and maybe a good vitamin c serum. I regret not starting it all sooner. :)

      It definitely opens up a whole world of sewing with knits. I realize space constraints may be an issue for you but if you can find the room, sergers are relatively cheap (especially used) and speed up your sewing so much. Some people are put off by the cost of threads, but I’ve found you can sew quite a lot with a medium grey color. I would definitely get a 4-thread model but wouldn’t bother with those that can do a cover stitch. Changing back and forth is cumbersome. Those of us who have been sewing for some time have certainly collected a few gadgets, but my serger is one I value a lot.
