When people talk about having someone do Layne or Chris Cornell, this is the level of vocalist you need, boss level.
Soul singers GET Layne. They understand his tone and the power behind his vocals. It’s a particular style that many people can’t perform which is why so many AIC covers seem lackluster. Layne does a lot of cool stuff with his voice. The falls he does at the end of phrases, the vibrato, the way he pronounces certain words, the riffs/runs, the melody choices. It’s more than just belting. The vocals gotta have SOUL.
I agree, it's tied between Layne and Chris Cornell, had two of the most powerful voices in Rock History.
This is 100% on point!
Spot on. I was going to say something like it and then I read yours.
@@jeffgriffin5550 😊😊😊😊😊
Good insight , arm chair singer and ya soul is what I do . Layne does some distortion with his voice box that I couldn’t do if you paid me lol. But his pitch his tone how he Carries notes it’s soul-like
I'll be honest I'd never heard of Liv Warfield before this. Wow. She has a new fan here.
She’s made me a fan
I've followed her for a while... AMAZING!
Samezee… I want her to go sing with soundgarden
Me too ✨
Same WOW
Your voice is soo powerful! This is the most intense version after Layne. I would like to hear her sing more AIC songs...
One of the many underrated tracks from Facelift!! She sounded great!
There are no underrated tracks from Facelift but I know what you're saying lol
Sooo....HOLY SHIT!!!! My mind is absolutely blown, SHE GETS IT!!!! Sorry for sounding like an idiot, lol!! There's just not enough words to express the perfection and brilliance in her performance!!!! She felt every single word and note, then you have the band that's equally as incredible.... WOW, what a beautiful combination!!! This performance is one of the best I've ever seen, definitely something special, it's like she was meant to sing this one!!!! Ok sorry guys I'll stfu now, lol!!!
A late reply, but please don’t stfu…I can and have talked AIC all day and I’m not alone
I'm still picking my jaw up off the floor after that performance! I knew she was badass from her time with Prince and then her debut album, but OMFG!!!
This one was one of my favorites because she really put it all out there and didn't hold back.
That voice gave me chills, amazing job, Layne would be proud
I'm not really a fan of most covers, but this was fantastic. I had to look her up because she's got an amazing voice. I'd love to hear her version of Rooster.... Or really anything for that matter. Wow.
Prince thought she was pretty amazing too, she was an official band member of the NPG!! She just keeps getting better too!
@@jeremyserwer2586 Damn!!!! It’s worth diving deep into the comments- I did not know that but it now I’m like “duh”
Just spitballing here… I wish a Layne & Prince collaboration could have been a thing. I know, I know…totally ridiculous… but still
This cover did something amazing! They took a metal song infused with blues, took the blues element, infused it with soul and funk, and made a unique masterpiece out of it.
Liv and everyone else who worked on recording the cover, you really outdid yourselves!
Just watched for the first time and after 30 seconds of thinking how to describe it, I found the words, then I found your comment. I’m 2 years late to the party but feeling validated, lol
if you listen closely the original is blues man
Liv Warfield needs to make an entire album of Alice In Chains cover. It just had power and energy that I feel that so many other of the covers just lacked. For me my top three songs are Rain When i Die from Dallas Green, Them Bones from Fishbone, and this song. They all made the songs their own.
Woah. I'd pay good money for that!
Her voice is strong asf
She OWNED this song. Best performance of the night, and there were so many great ones! I hope Alice in chains brings her on tour with them to open for the band (once the pandemic is over). She's just gained a whole fanbase for herself with this outstanding and powerful rendition! ❤️❤️❤️
100% agreed best singer of the night
Yeah for real
Yes she did good but somewhat this sounds like disco on the verses lmao
You think this is something, check her out here! ruclips.net/video/kWAKFtq-VWI/видео.html
Absolutely! Killed it!
Oh my effing god....... who is this woman, and why have I never heard of her ?
She sang for Prince in the NPG! Used to see her play small clubs in Portland.
Right? Dayum.
Isn't it the truth? Check out this acoustic song with the same guitarist, Ryan Waters. ruclips.net/video/bKdTUQIxg_s/видео.html
She did effing amazing, but are we not gonna talk about that guitar structure in the background? Where is that? What is it? How can I get one of my own!???
The guitar structure is in the museum of pop culture and it's in Seattle. You just need to buy around 100 guitars or so then you'll be set, lol! It's definitely an amazing sight, good luck building yours!!! Soooooo cool!!!
@@sandyhowell8833 thank you for the info! It's a really impressive structure!
Holy shit.
That was wicked.
Finally, someone who can belt out an Alice tune like it should be!!!
I’ve always said that the only people that can give Layne his due justice are women belters 😭😭😭
every once in a while you hear a vocalist you've never heard of and can only say "WTF?" - who is this woman and where has she been hiding. After the first time I saw this video I did some RUclips searching and saw her do a couple of Heart tunes with Nancy Wilson. Warfield crushes Barracuda and Crazy on You - (Nancy might be telling big sis that it's time to retire).
I want to hear her do Rooster.
True, it would be amazing too !!!
Nutshell
Ha, YES!!!! That's such a great idea, after hearing this one it would be great to hear more!!
She should have just done every song.
nobody cares what you want your egoistic individualistic need, enjoy the music at once !!
If she does Bleed The Freak I'm gonna buy a ring.
What an incredible voice this woman has !!!
This is a song i never thought i'd hear covered, and here i got getting a whole new artist to follow. Liv blew this away. This was amazing!
She owned this song!
That was fukn POWERFUL..
HOLY SHIT!!!! 😍😍😍
I can’t stop listening! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
She OWNED this!! 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
Fuck yes! Just gonna wait for this to blow up now...
DAMMMM nice to meet you Liv!!!
Layne would have absolutely loved this!!
G'ahead, sis'....G'ahead.
What an incredible voice. So powerful!
Killer version
Man the pipes on this woman! She’s got such similar energy to Anne Wilson too, I love it!
Look up her cover of barracuda
One of the stars of the night . A tip of my AiC cap to Liv Warfield
hell yes
I think she done a good job she knows definitely how to sing you know heaven's happy now and it was already happy but even more now awesome Spirit you can feel it
That was fucking great!
After hearing this and then William’s Rusty Cage cover vocals it also reminds you how great it would have been if they had ever unleashed William to sing by himself on a track without tons of layered harmonies. While it’s a feature of Alice it wasn’t always the thing on every single song. It would just be nice to hear some balls-to-the-wall vocals again like this on a new studio track.
That's my only bitch about the latest albums. Layne got to go off by himself and let it out. It seems Duvall really doesn't get to.
Yeah like William is great and I think the majority of fans love him. Have you seen him do never fade acoustic? It's pretty awesome.
EXACTLY. He's got great vocals but it's overshadowed by all the harmonizing. His true abilities appear live when he sings Layne's songs. He nails it most of the time.
This is fuckin' great!!!!
HOLY SHIT!!! 100% on that vocal performance..i want more !
What a goddess, I just can't stop listening to this cover. Fucking amazing!
Years later I'm still obsessed with this, it's so fucking good!!!
This version is awesome!
wow!!!! 🖤 Fuck yes!
This lady’s voice is amazing!
This woman took me somewhere. Holy crap!
What? Hairs are standing up like crazy! Mind blown!
Same!
Holy $hi+!!!! I had goosebumps all along my legs the entire song! Liv killed it! That totally made my day
🤘😆🤘
This is iconic!! You can feel her voice in the depths of your soul. Did AIC so much justice!
Could you imagine if this soulful rock voice combined with Staley and Cantrell's harmonies?
Holy cow! Those are some serious pipes! Definitely my vote for the best in the whole show!
The ONLY person to sing for Layne. Liv is fricking brilliant. Was just at the MOPOP a few weeks ago. They need to AGAIN focus spaces on ALL of the great artists from the Seattle area. Not just Pearl Jam, Nirvana. Do better, MOPOP.
I'm a guitarist for 30 years and this cover just hit my brain with such a fresh and unique vibe! Wow this is amazing!
Every music fan. “No one can cover a AIC song and it be better then the original”. Liv Warfield “Hold my beer”
There are very few AIC covers I like. This is now on the list
Liv ... That was incredible ...
Nice! That’s nice.
Epic
GOT DAM
Vocals on FIRE
Great voice
She's got the job
I like this version better than the original on Face Lift!
Awesome version of 'Put You Down' .

First time seeing and listening to her, she is awesome.

She's got that vibrato.
Holy shit! Her voice just gave me a black eye 👁️
God damn god am! Fantastic rendition and nice deep cut!!
This deserves more views, makes me wonder why AIC fans are not clicking on her video? I want to hear more soul singers cover AIC.
I have heard very few singers that give me the goosebumps, Liv does that for me. Good God she has the power in her voice, WOW!
(Would LOVE to hear her sing Would or Rooster).
That was badass! Just sayin'
That was amazing!
This was the one
Wow. She just owned it. Great stuff!
💙
nice
Wow.
Great interpretation of this song, wow!! She is amazing! 🎤
You guys should look her up singing Crazy On You with Nancy Wilson. OMG
Nailed it! Just fabulous, I love it!
So good 🤘🏽
OMFG, Liv brought it down! Whaow!! This was awesome.
She should be the AIC vocalist. Damn she smokes
she brought back the soul of 90s
