I am currently training for my first marathon! NEW YORK MARATHON!! And I’m also training with Runna! Absolutely loving my training and so proud of the progress I’ve made. Did my longest run this past weekend, 14.3 miles.
@@runningchannel I’m really excited and nervous. But like Sarah says “run the mile you’re in” that will be my mantra that day and will also write it out. Thank you so much for the content and great energy you guys put out! I truly have learned so much and appreciate it.
I’m also training for my first with Runna and it’s NYC marathon. Did my long run as a half marathon race in Jersey city and clocked 2:19. Hoping to complete marathon under 4:45.
I’m training for the Perth (WA) marathon and I’m using a runna plan. It is such a massive help, I love it! I’m hoping for under 3:50. Coming back from a bulging disc injury and feeling good!
Well done Jess! You are a fantastic runner and such a lovely person. You were so kind when I met you en route at the marathon pour tous. Best of luck in Berlin
See you in Berlin Jess! I'm trying to break 4hrs in Berlin for the 1st time, that will be a 15 minute PB for me, hopefully my training will get me there!
I'm training for Eindhoven marathon in October. Race pace: 5:15 per km. My last interval training was 3x 1k @4:00/k, 3x 400m @3:50/k, 3x 200m @3:40/k, in between half of the interval distance jog, but is was mostly walking because this was pretty hard for me.
Good luck Jess! I'm training for the London marathon, my first marathon. My goal pace is 7:15 min/km... I'm amazed that your conversational pace is 4:15 min/km...I can't even sprint that fast🤣
Great to see how you stick to your pace in such a hot weather. I struggle so much in heat and humidity. I am training for my 2nd Chicago Marathon this fall.
Currently training for the US Marine corps marathon, hoping to beat my current PR of 3:22. Best of luck on your training, I can tell that you're in great shape to hit your goal in Berlin!
Training for my 7th marathon in Nice-Cannes in France this November, also sub 3-hours attempt. Working hard daily 😄 Good luck with your training! I ran Berlin twice and it was amazing, set my PB on both
Maraton Północy - Bieg Czterech Latarni, which translates to the Marathon of the North - the Run of the Four Lighthouses (my 3rd time there 😬) + Valencia. Something cosy, and picturesque, but challenging + a huge one for a change of pace. Thank you for inspiration and have fun with your training ♥️
I just did my first sub 5 hour Marathon in 4:59:38 on the weekend (as part of a private 6 hour run, but the last hour was bad, so I finished at 46.12k) 3 Hours is sooooo far away... 4 might be possible at some point Good luck!
Have you ever considered "Jeffing" (Run/Walk Method)? Although it Sounds contradictory, I've heard plenty of people smashing their marathon results with those intermittent walks. TRC made one or two videos on it, too.
Can totally recommend doing a workout like this for a sub 3 attempt instead of smashing it on the track in shorter Intervals. I just feel you get more bang for your buck here. I did this session at 3:55 per k but managed to do 4x3k towards the end of my training block. Perfect workout for a sub 3 Marathon in my opinion.
Training for the Galway City Marathon in October in Ireland. My 2nd Marathon attempt after not finishing in my home, one in Cork in Ireland, went out too quickly, and the heat on the day eventually told and had to pull out with 2km to go. Lessons learned, hopefully for Galway!
Training for the same race and it was meant to be sub 3 hour, too. A big chunk of my training block went totally not as planned so we'll have to adjust my goal 🙄 still looking forward to it 😊
I'll be running Valencia too! It'll be my third marathon, and I'm hoping for a sub 3:30. London's big half first though. Once that's done, I'll be starting my marathon plan!
I am training for the Chicago Marathon. I am also using Runna and hoping for a 3:30 to 3:45 hour time that will improve on my 4:09 at London this year!
I’m training for Chicago Marathon! It’ll be my first World Major! Would love to do all 6 one day. Goal is to run in the low 3:20s and hopefully get into Boston.
Training for my first half marathon, the Mount Nebo, while coming down off of peroneal tendinoptathy, trying to build my distance back up without having the pain return. Only two weeks away. I was out for almost two weeks and just started running again. My first full marathon is next June, the Utah Valley Marathon.
Currently I'm training for my two first 10k races, one on the upcoming sunday, the other one end of september. Goal is sub 50, maybe sub 45 for the second race. Afterwards I'll train for hanover half marathon in april 2025. I'd love to run a marathon some day but I want to keep things realistic. My longest run until now was 15k (5:45 pace) last saturday. Thats quite a long way to go. Dreaming of running london marathon 2026 😊
Yes! Valencia for me this yr. PB is 3:10 on the nose, and wanted sub 3 but think sub 3:05 might be more sensible a target..... Using Runna for the first time too - enjoying it, but there's a lot of intensity in there eh!
I ll be running the berlin marathon too the second attempt at a sub 3h i did first attempt in mai run 3:00:20. But got injured i took one month of gained 10 pounds started trainig at the end of june hope i can be in a sub3 shape at the end of septembre
Training for Chicago, 8 weeks done of 16 week plan. Would love to see something on what to look for in stats (or elsewhere) for indications of improvement. May sound obvious but have been following a plan and don't feel I'm progressing and looking at abandoning this plan and going to a different plan for last 8 weeks. Will be my 16th marathon but plan was v different to previous marathons and I have doubts it's been working despite doing all the miles and pre/post drills etc Best of luck in Berlin, hope you get your goal!
Currently training for a 10K in October, aiming to hit sub-45, which seems like it shouldn't be any issues. Considering aiming for my first marathon after that, Stockholm Marathon in spring (31st May). Gives me plenty of time to build up mileage and strength, as I have had knee issues before from upping the mileage too quick. Not sure what time to aim for, but I think that will become clear when it gets closer
I’m currently training for my first marathon in Amsterdam in October.. 9 weeks to go. My plan is to do it in under 4 hours, and my Garmin watch claims I should be able to make it in 3h35. I doubt that though. Runalyze claims just above 4 hours with my current “marathon shape”, which sounds much more realistic to me, but obviously there is still a bit of training time left. (I use Garmins daily suggested workouts only this time, but sometimes shift them around as time allows). Ran 2 hours on my long run yesterday and that got me 22km, but that was not at marathon pace, so sub 4 should still be a realistic target. Tomorrow and Thursday a threshold run and on Sunday a 2h20 long run is planned in, which should be around 25k. The other days I do easy runs of about 45 to 50 minutes. Then again, those are “nice goals”, it’s still my first marathon, so in reality i just want to finish it. The times are for my own motivation and training, but secondary.
jess id love to run a run with you not t your pace though you are too fast but i admire they way you can just talk and talk when running at that speed ; i love to chat while running i have one or two friends that we run together for that reason ; i think your amazing
I am training for my first marathon in Amsterdam in October and can just about maintain a 6:30/km... Even thinking of that pace makes me feel sick. I am also training for the Malaga Half in December where I hope to PB.
I'm currently training for my first marathon, Auckland marathon! Loving the training but finding it hard to judge what pace to aim for with few references!
Training for my first marathon in Oct in Bucharest. The target is not do die and finish it. Started last year to run and for the moment a marathon feels impossible 😫
I wonder how to adapt this workout for for other marathon times. Should it scale constantly: your goal pace - 20s or should it go linearly like -30s for 3h30 and maybe 40s for 4h marathon? Currently I'm training for a 3h30 and feel that 4:40 pace wouldn't push me nearly as much as 3:50 for Jess.
I am a 15 year old starting running, i think i am managing quite well. My first run was a 3k on 4:30 pace, but anyways i'ma need some budget shoes and watch. Do you have any recommendations? I have a bit of money from my job, but don't want to spend 300 on gear to start off
I also am a big fan of brooks (pricey but they last super well) and saucony (which often have cheaper models) and a lot of shoe companies will have back to school discounts right now!
Relax into the pace @3:50/km 😂. I’d be relaxing into an ambulance.
this made me laugh so much. thanks for that
Like "Warm-up not faster than 4:45/km" :-) That's faster than my 5km "race" pace!
That comment sent me 😂
Haha! Same!
It's good to see Jess's training videos because it shows the effort needed to get that higher level of results.
😂 the warm up is my sprint lol currently training for my first half-marathon in September, using the Runna app. Loving it 👍
Amazing Rebecca good luck! Which half marathon are you taking on?
Have fun!
