Soldier constructs are hostile, while these ranger constructs appear passive The minimap now has X Y AND Z coordinates on it Rotation uses the directional buttons The arrow swapping icon no longer appears, perhaps to focus on the fusing mechanic, no more elemental arrows as you can make them on the fly, makes room for more bows in the inventory too. So far we see four abilities - Recall - Fuse - Ultrahand (get it?) - Ascend R seems to be a secondary action button instead of always being throw weapon, perhaps you draw your weapon and then R allows you too throw it. Fuck magnesis, we can now levitate *anything* Magnesis is dead, long live ultrahand I miss the darker brown horse seen in the marketing material for BOTW
I'm interested to see the significance of the yellow trees, since Aonuma mentions them specifically being found mostly on the sky islands it seems they might significant in some way
One of the items Link picked up from the Constructs was called the "Zonai Charge"! Seems like the Zonai, or at the very least their creations, weren't entirely lost to time.
That, or they got re-activared due to the precence of ganon being much stronger, I mean, the guardians got taken over by ganon, so i assume the zonai though this could happen and made sure their zonai things would float into the sky instead of just letting themselves be taken over.
@@Y_u_dum ooo that's a good point, hell they may have thought of this when Calamity Ganon first started appearing which is why they're entirely gone this time round. And now since it seems the true Ganon is back in full force their technology was activated to fend off potential threats, which may now include Link. But I wonder, it was theorized and hinted at in the game that the Zonai were something of a barbaric tribe, but I doubt if that was the case they'd have floating islands and an army of robots to defend themselves, with this seeming to be another form of ancient technology, maybe the Zonai and Sheika are more connected than we thought.
These mechanics are great and we can see how they'll make the open world fun, but man, I want to see this kind of stuff worked into dungeons. Imagine having to ascend into a hidden room above you to find some rare treasures or to escape a room you've been locked inside, or to have to fuse stuff to build a makeshift mechanism to open a gate or something.
I never got people's love for dungeons, but I'm pretty sure they'll be in this game. The director keeps saying that there's so much in this game that they haven't shown and many unique and creative ways to apply the new abilities.
For the ascend ability, Aonuma certainly alluded to it being useful when you are stuck in a cage or something with a ceiling. This might just be a reference to potential usage in a dungeon or at least a boss fight. Or it isn't and he just said that to illustrate the ability, but at least to me, it seamed like he is referring to a specific situation.
Notice the dilapidated houses everywhere? They have foundations and sign posts. I still think we will be rebuilding as a theme and that enemy bases, towns, and our home base will be buildable.
I noticed right after he builds the boat and reaches the shore there is a zonai construct that has a speech bubble. This makes me think that some of the constructs get corrupted by Ganon. You can't see it in your video due to your camera, but if you go to 9:04 of the trailer on nintendo's channel it will appear on the right side of the screen for a split second.
How are so few people talking about this? I paused the video, it says ‘Ranger Construct’. They look kinda reptilian? It’s hard to tell what meant to be what at this angle.
The name of the ability ''Ultrahand'' is probably named after the toy that Nintendo manufactured in the 60's, created by the late Gunpei Yokoi, creator of the D-pad, among other things.
@@hylianro yea, wasn't it not made clear way back to 2019 that this game is a sequel? Of course it's gonna look somewhat similar, the UI ig is a bit of the same, but still, what did you really expect? The game to have a completely new map? With a completely new UI?
The dog still being at duelling peaks stable is a great detail, i just hope we can pet it this time.... I wonder if all the npcs from botw will still be around
I'm calling it now, one month after release we'll all see a video titled "I made a working nuclear reactor in TotK with the fuse system" and I'm living from for it. So hyped
I also wondered about the meat arrows! I'm very excited about all of the piles of building materials, hope that we get to interact with and help build new (hopefully usable) facilities throughout Hyrule like we did Tarrey Town in the last game. I was always very disappointed that we didn't have more of that as post-game content.
My two cents on a meat arrow: You could probably use it to place bait at a distance. Luring enemies with meat was already a feature, but we could only do so as far as we could throw it. But with a bow and arrow? Way easier to lure enemies away from camps.
This has almost nothing to do with the gameplay footage itself but I ADORE Eiji Aunuma's English Translator as he even replicated Eiji's giggling as he talked during the segment talking about Fuse 😂its such a good detail that most would leave out in translation and it made it really feel like Aunuma was speaking to us in English and I love his translator for doing that
It seems like the Sheikah tech (esp. the shrines and slate) may no longer be present in TotK in favor of the Zonai techs. A good hint is in at the end of the BotW secret ending where Zelda mentioned that Vah Ruta is not functioning
I think the ascend ability is going to be used for underground exploration. Think about it, it makes sense if you can’t fast travel underground but simply use the ascend ability to climb back up to Hyrule from where you currently are.
I LOVE that fuse ability! The possibilities are basically endless! I love how they looked at what people were doing with botw (making makeshift flying machines with minecarts and magnesis for example) and decided to go all in on that. It's going to be so fun!! And I love how the Ascend ability looks too! The fact that when you reach the top, there's a prompt to exit which makes me think you can actually hang out there for a bit before exiting? Can't wait for this game!
There is also a _back_ prompt at the verrry bottom of the screen when you begin to Ascend, and it remains there even while Link is in that half-buried state the top. So I assume the game lets you hang out like that until you decide to either commit to the Ascend (exit) or return (back) to where you originally came. Clever. Let's players experiment and peek around freely.
@@Graphomite oh yeah! I see it now, cool! That's so cool! It means you could ascend up and peek out but if you see the area is infested with monsters or something you could go back and drop back to the ground! Such a cool feature?

the crafting and fusing is so much more intricate than what i expected. I wonder if they took inspiration from people making makeshift airships and stuff? People are gonna make some crazy stuff with this
I'm noticing that they've taken a few notes from Age of Calamity for certain things. Like having an instant food option. I wonder how it will work in the game?
So still hoping for underwater options. My guess is crafting items will be required, maybe with an armor that we need to reacquire or make? Heavy metal/stone attached to a shield to be pulled down? Gems to upgrade items? Looks like there is still cooking options... Probably even more options to do the same things!
In the section where he demonstrates the ascend ability, its in a town of some type. There is an item shop icon on the minimap. Also noted some type of shrine on the minimap when he is skydiving.
The world didn't seem darkened like in Twilight Princess or gloomy like in Mjora's Mask, so I am curious about how they will build the ambiance and depth of a world that is allegedly supposed to be the darkest game yet.
I feel ascend confirms surface world caves. Think about it. You delve down, but they're natural constructs and don't teleport you to the surface. Instead you go through the ceiling to get back to ground level. Gonna be some puzzles related to that I guarantee
The fact that those enemies are called constructs makes me wonder if even they are modular. Like there could be a great variety of enemies with some of the same basic parts. One can dream.
Kinda makes you wonder though if ancient weapons will even be in this game. If all the sheikah tech and guardians are gone, than how would you get these things? Unless, theres a new marketplace for scavaged items and people are selling them
These feel like features that would be really cool. In game that isn’t Zelda. There’s something about a battery icon in that setting that just rubs me the wrong way.
The reason why nothing much has changed in the graphics of the game from botw is that they focused more on the innovations that will make this game different. Imagine finding a hundred items and in-game and you can fuse it as you like depending on how you think you can use it. Damn our imagination is our limit in this game.
I swear when I watched the video by myself and I saw the word Zonai charge pop up I immediately had to think of you Zeltik! Gosh I'm soo excited for this game!!! 🤩🤩 3:33
MEATARROW! MEATARROW! MEATARROW! MEATARROW! Also, at the end, after he falls off the sky island and is skydiving, he does a pan around the kingdom. Its possible to see that he is probably close to where the great plateau should be. You can also clearly see cubes in the sky directly above where the labyrinths should be. You might be able to extrapolate a lot based on where certain sky islands appear relative to the ground, and that one shot is probably the best locating shot yet. Theres also a lot of those new towers with the 4 spotlights.
The new crafting system solves the issue of players hoarding top quality gear that they'll never use. Experimentation with combat is encouraged since you'll most likely be using expendable sticks and stones
As someone that is known to get lost in crafting, I am hyped for this. Now the only thing I’m left questioning is if we’ll actually get to play as Zelda in some parts of the game. Doubtful, but still something I’d love to see happen.
I’ll put below here something y’all need to know (including Zeltik for his analysis video): At 9:02 - 9:03, that Construct guy looks very similar to the enemy we saw in the E3 2021 trailer. The green one with the egg-looking things on his head. Except that, this Construct is not an enemy. It is an NPC, because its name flashes over its head, and the “Talk” option appears, both for a split-second. Its name is “Ranger Construct” implying it’s more passive than the Soldier Constructs that attack Link in this video. Edit: You can’t see the name here because Zeltik’s facecam is covering it, but it is there in the other reactions. I also realise the time when the Talk option and the name show up are inbetween 9:02 and 9:03. Sad.
Ok. Hear me out. In most of the promotional images, we see Link has four green vials on his hip where the Sheika Slate used to be. In this gameplay demo, we see link has four base abilities, essentially runes: Recall, Fuse, Ultrahand, and Ascend. I think we get these four abilities on the first sky island via the green vials on Link's hip. We probably unlock them in the first four shrines. Link also has four empty vial slots on his hip. These are almost definitely the dungeon items/abilities. The number four also matches how many divine beasts and therefore Champion abilities there were in BOTW. I think the evidence is pointing towards four dungeons with unique abilities/vials in each one. I just hope the abilities are more like classic Zelda dungeon items and not the same as the Champion abilities (passive buffs that you don't really get until after beating the whole dungeon). I want these new abilities to be critical to solving the dungeons, but you can tackle the dungeons in any order. Overall, this gameplay demo was so cool and I can't wait to discover what the Zelda team is hiding so carefully in this game.
Gameplay mechanics are very cool. But. I need some traditional Zelda stuff too to keep the essence of the series alive. If there’s no dungeons to utilise this stuff then I’ll be extremely disappointed! Cos god knows I can’t take anymore shrines!

Soldier constructs are hostile, while these ranger constructs appear passive
The minimap now has X Y AND Z coordinates on it
Rotation uses the directional buttons
The arrow swapping icon no longer appears, perhaps to focus on the fusing mechanic, no more elemental arrows as you can make them on the fly, makes room for more bows in the inventory too.
So far we see four abilities
- Recall
- Fuse
- Ultrahand (get it?)
- Ascend
R seems to be a secondary action button instead of always being throw weapon, perhaps you draw your weapon and then R allows you too throw it.
Fuck magnesis, we can now levitate *anything*
Magnesis is dead, long live ultrahand
I miss the darker brown horse seen in the marketing material for BOTW
Vials on links waist are batteries
There's an apple icon in place of where the Sheikah runes used to be
Istg I just saw you on a Bandit video 💀
Long live the Ultrahand!
@@ultomatosouper2194 true
I'm interested to see the significance of the yellow trees, since Aonuma mentions them specifically being found mostly on the sky islands it seems they might significant in some way
Crafting/combining maybe
They saw us sticking guardians on top of rafts to fly around and they ran with it didn’t they
These mechanics are great and we can see how they'll make the open world fun, but man, I want to see this kind of stuff worked into dungeons.
Imagine having to ascend into a hidden room above you to find some rare treasures or to escape a room you've been locked inside, or to have to fuse stuff to build a makeshift mechanism to open a gate or something.
I never got people's love for dungeons, but I'm pretty sure they'll be in this game. The director keeps saying that there's so much in this game that they haven't shown and many unique and creative ways to apply the new abilities.
my thoughts exactly i need to know if we will have dungeons in this game
For the ascend ability, Aonuma certainly alluded to it being useful when you are stuck in a cage or something with a ceiling. This might just be a reference to potential usage in a dungeon or at least a boss fight. Or it isn't and he just said that to illustrate the ability, but at least to me, it seamed like he is referring to a specific situation.
YO MAMA !!
@@JayJayNoelastnam You never got people's love for dungeons? Dude, do you even care about Legend of Zelda games?
Notice the dilapidated houses everywhere? They have foundations and sign posts. I still think we will be rebuilding as a theme and that enemy bases, towns, and our home base will be buildable.
I hope so
I really hope so.
This is gonna be Tarrey Town on steroids!
With all this crafting, all I can think of is Star Lord saying: “I’m gonna make some weird shit” 😂
The second I saw an item with “Zonai” in the name during the video, I instantly pulled up your channel to see your reaction.
Just the thought that we merely saw the hint of a glance of this game and that there is SOO much more to see excites me so much.
IKR? Alls they showed off was three abilities, and it was the perfect amount.
You can see it here too, but its for a split second
How are so few people talking about this? I paused the video, it says ‘Ranger Construct’. They look kinda reptilian? It’s hard to tell what meant to be what at this angle.
The race to make the first functioning battle mech is going to be real
Will probably finished one day after release. Never underrestimate the dedication of people.
@@dorianwiesner4477 More likely: Will be finished two weeks before release when the game leaks.
The name of the ability ''Ultrahand'' is probably named after the toy that Nintendo manufactured in the 60's, created by the late Gunpei Yokoi, creator of the D-pad, among other things.
This game is a lot more amazing then i expected it to be
It really doesn't it just looks like botw
@@hylianro and what were you expecting?
@@hylianro yea, wasn't it not made clear way back to 2019 that this game is a sequel? Of course it's gonna look somewhat similar, the UI ig is a bit of the same, but still, what did you really expect? The game to have a completely new map? With a completely new UI?
@@hylianro Its the botw sequel, so ofc it will look like it. It has so many more changes and so much more gameplay- well worth the 70$
@@hylianro bro just learned what a sequel was
The dog still being at duelling peaks stable is a great detail, i just hope we can pet it this time.... I wonder if all the npcs from botw will still be around
I'm calling it now, one month after release we'll all see a video titled "I made a working nuclear reactor in TotK with the fuse system" and I'm living from for it. So hyped
I loved your enthusiasm while reacting to the gameplay! Looking forward to your in depth analysis :)
_shoot meat_
_bear attack_
@@Graphomitethe meat arrows will probably be a way to bait certain enemies/animals to go where the meat is, separating them from the group
He did say that the arrows might be useful for hunting. Maybe the meat arrows would be useful as bait or something?
Grumble, grumble...
@@Y_u_dum Or, alternatively, *joining* them. With a bear.
This may be a very small detail, but I'm very exited to see what that travelling korok is about
New islands new golden drops to give xDD
Things are making sense now... like why all of the monster horns look more weapon-like now, and why the Master Sword isn't much more than the handle.
If we can fuse the Master Sword's hilt to other items, I'm definitely using the Master Hammer!
I was thinking the same. I will be the true hero who will wield the Legendary Master Torch!
meat arrows bouta go crazy 🔥
😏
My two cents on a meat arrow: You could probably use it to place bait at a distance. Luring enemies with meat was already a feature, but we could only do so as far as we could throw it. But with a bow and arrow? Way easier to lure enemies away from camps.
Meat + fire arrow = tasty meal delivery + death
Cant even explain how excited I am 😂
This has almost nothing to do with the gameplay footage itself but I ADORE Eiji Aunuma's English Translator as he even replicated Eiji's giggling as he talked during the segment talking about Fuse 😂its such a good detail that most would leave out in translation and it made it really feel like Aunuma was speaking to us in English and I love his translator for doing that
4:47 "Is that a really long spear in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?"
Someone else said. What if there's secret hidden rooms you can't get to by normal means so you have to ascend to get into them from within a cave
Something easy to overlook is that the map now has Coordinates. Also the Zonai have to do with this as the constructs drop Zonai Charges
TotK was being made basically when BotW was released.
@@Vixin24 I know, right? Not only can we shoop a doop up mountains and platforms, but "nope" right back down them? So neat. Nintendo really just letting the players have fun with the mechanics. TotK Link is overpowered in the best way.
Love the way they found other uses for monsters parts then just elixirs
the crafting and fusing is so much more intricate than what i expected. I wonder if they took inspiration from people making makeshift airships and stuff? People are gonna make some crazy stuff with this
I really hope they have regular weapons like the royal guards gear or just weapons that were in the first game
The numbers in the map are X, Y, Z coordinates to show position and height over/under the map
I'm noticing that they've taken a few notes from Age of Calamity for certain things. Like having an instant food option. I wonder how it will work in the game?
I think that the food icon is more to do with fusing, like the menu used when creating new arrows. I reckon its just for items in general
I have loved seeing everyone (you, bandit, monster, commonwealth & NBC) reacting to the weapon fuse. 🤣
As soon as I heard them say the word Zonai, I thought of you 😂 You were right all along!
looking forward to ur analysis in detail! I cannot WAIT!
So still hoping for underwater options. My guess is crafting items will be required, maybe with an armor that we need to reacquire or make? Heavy metal/stone attached to a shield to be pulled down? Gems to upgrade items? Looks like there is still cooking options... Probably even more options to do the same things!
fuse your own heavy boots just by adding a bag of rocks 😂
Under water is not gonna happen 😢.
I can’t wait to see what speedrunners do when the game comes out!
Fuse items to weapons for elemental weapons, bomb barrel to hammer, so many combos to be had.
Maybe there’s a progression over the course of the game.
Oh it's you
I feel ascend confirms surface world caves. Think about it. You delve down, but they're natural constructs and don't teleport you to the surface. Instead you go through the ceiling to get back to ground level. Gonna be some puzzles related to that I guarantee
It's slightly overwhelming to think about. So exciting!
My thoughts exactly!! Probably no fast travel underground, so using ascend would get you back up to Hyrule where ever you are at the time.
We couldn't have asked for more; this is perfect and the amazing part is that Zeltik covered it AAAHHHHHHH ♥
The fact that those enemies are called constructs makes me wonder if even they are modular. Like there could be a great variety of enemies with some of the same basic parts. One can dream.
I LITERALLY WAS JUST SITTING THERE SAYING "OMG" "WHAT THE FUCK" EVERY 5 SECONDS LMAO THIS GAME IS GONNA BE INSANE I'M SO EXCITED
I like the idea of the possibility of fusing a korok leaf to a claymore and making a charge attack tornado thing

Very curious to see what would happen if you fused the Great Elemental Blades.
Or the Ancient Chainsaw with literally anything.
Hear me out... Ancient Chainsaw + Ancient Chainsaw
Can't wait to create the Monado in this game
Kinda makes you wonder though if ancient weapons will even be in this game. If all the sheikah tech and guardians are gone, than how would you get these things? Unless, theres a new marketplace for scavaged items and people are selling them

These feel like features that would be really cool. In game that isn’t Zelda. There’s something about a battery icon in that setting that just rubs me the wrong way.
Zelda purists.
I’m digging the mini-map coordinates
This will make it so easy to share the location of secrets with other players

I love that you don't need the champion tunic to see enemies energy bars
If you shieldsurf with that puffshroom on it, does Link bounce up?

Did you see the Korok with a huge backpack by the stable?
I saw it! Does that mean no more Korok Seeds and the Koroks are just part of proper Hyrule.
I have been watching these videos alllllll day! I'm just so excited! ❤
Thanks for this video Zeltik!
never have i been more excited for a game in my entire life, can't wait!!
Fusing items to arrows probably means that bomb arrows are returning as well I love it
Then bombs may be collectible, considering the lack of the Sheikai Slate
This looks like a prime example of Nintendo innovation. The potential with these new abilities will be wild!
Zeltik's reaction to the Zonai charge was exactly the same as mine lol
Same! I was giddy the whole showcase!
I'm 100% certain now, those green things on links waist are battery cells, the more you collect, the longer your crafted vehicles are powered
I’ll put below here something y’all need to know (including Zeltik for his analysis video):
At 9:02 - 9:03, that Construct guy looks very similar to the enemy we saw in the E3 2021 trailer.
Sad.
Gosh this is so impressive I’m stoked
Man, I always love zeltik’s content
7:54 Every time I see this, I'm reminded of the Y-Wing fighters from Star Wars. Is it just me?
Gameplay mechanics are very cool. But. I need some traditional Zelda stuff too to keep the essence of the series alive. If there’s no dungeons to utilise this stuff then I’ll be extremely disappointed! Cos god knows I can’t take anymore shrines!
It's confirmed by the artwork there will be dungeons
@@Xf3rnaPlays oh really ? I didn’t know that
