It's possible that since Zelda said her father wouldn't believe her vision as anything more than dreams, perhaps Impa took her seriously and asked her to draw out these weird dreams. Partly as a comfort (since it's a tactic therapists use in the real world to see what might be bothering a child who can't really explain) but partly because she knew with the number or consistency of them (like somehow this girl who has never left the palace knows what the inside of Goron City looks like) means she should save these images for later to study them for what it might mean.

I don't know about the item jingle one, though: it's a seven-note run each time, yes, but they have different timing, and, in the case of Majora's Mask, you know it's a play on the Song of Healing.

    • @HonterDax
      @HonterDax 2 года назад +4

It might be a combination of a throwback to the original jingle and a new jingle based on the songs of the game they are in. Like Windfall and Kakariko having the same theme but being two diffrent songs. Or Outset island having refrences to the Kokiri forest. Anyways it could also be that MM's jingle is not a reference to any other song but the other ones are. We would have to ask the composers to be 100%, and even then, they might not remember :(

      @HonterDax 2 года назад

@@wthinthecompassofman it's almost as, I said, that THEY WHERE DIFFRENT CHORDS. The cadence and melody is the similar if not the same. I guess thos scrambled names on the map of BotW aren't a reference to the original, unscrambled names of the places they are supposed to reference (see the other Zeltik video about each reference in the map of BotW) because they aren't the exact same name? No. They can change the tune to fit the games but that doesn't mean the song isn't referencing the original. If you look closely, they have very similar structure. And as I said, MM one being a play on the song of Healing doesn't make it so it can't reference anything else. In fact, it is very different from the song of healing, only using the same tonality as the song of healing. But I don't hear you saying that it wasn't inspired by the song of Healing because it was meant to reference it.

Nice finding. They are all similar, but as far as I can hear, there are at least four different 7-note jingles heard in this part of the video. The common pattern is a fast and ascending melody of two triplets followed by a half note.
Version 1: Heard in Adventure of Link. The melody is disjunct. Notice that both triplets descend and the last note is the highest.
Version 2: Heard in Ocarina of Time. Similar to version 1, but notably, it resolves to a lower and less bombastic note, beginning and ending on the same note.
Version 3: Heard in Majora's Mask. It's reminiscent, but instead of doing one or two broken major triads, it's based on the motiff of the Song of Healing. Also, this is much more conjunct.
Version 3: Heard at least in Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, and Breath of the Wild. This is disjunct. Notice that both triplets ascend instead of descend. This jingle is very familiar to me from those 3 games.

Regarding Louise, there could be 2 possibilities:
    1) Louise should have been Darbus pet pointing out a softy behind this rather dangerous looking Goron.
    2) Instead of a random Goron, Darbus was supposed to be the Goron guarding Telmas Bar and the cat grew fond enough of him to be near him.
There could be other reasons too but 2) is most likely the case.
Another would be that Telma was supposed to take Louise with her to Kakariko and after Darbus' rescue he would have been one of the Gorons guarding the Village with Louise finding a liking to him.
Either way I doubt that a Goron would own a cat conciderning DeathMountains climate but with the concept art (darbus pose with Louise on his shoulder) I won't rule out the Idea that this cat is a scrapped Idea and was reused as Telma's.

This was fun, and thanks for mentioning stuff from the older games. So often, it feels like current content creators, who probably weren't even born when Zelda started, don't feel like these oldest games still matter. Ocarina is fun. I really like Twilight Princess, and Wind Waker, and while I hold no love for Skyward Sword, it obviously has a following, but it often seems like OoT is about as far back, in production history, as they feel they need to go. As someone who was a child when LoZ first debuted on the NES, and fell in love with the series from those two games (yes, I know most people hate AoL), and who still holds LttP as one of my favorite games, its always nice to see callbacks to these oldest games, even if they don't still seem to fit in among all the interlacing content of the series, as most content creators like to discuss. Thanks much!

I completely agree. When all these OoT Fanbois started going “oh Link’s Awakening was my first and favorite!!” when the Switch Remaster was announced…I was livid.
Like, nO IT’S NOT!! or there’d have been faaaaar more fandom content with theories or comics/art/dubs or hidden details/theories over the years verses…almost exclusively OoT, with a side of MM or WW and TP when they “branch out”
But like. There’s still a lot of meta fodder for NES zelda, LttP, LA is an entire philosophical dilemma and true tragedy. And there’s plenty to be said for games that followed them, too (like the Oracles and Minish Cap. FS and FSA kinda…almost deserve their position as forgotten games since they demanded coop to even be playable. I’m all for cooperative play, but…they have to function for players who don’t have anyone to play with (and families that only have the one device and/or game to share between 2+ kids.) Getting off topic but, it’s honestly pretty pathetic that most gaming companies have figured out coop/solo while Zelda…has not.)
But…yeah. It always makes me happy to see the non3D games have inclusions

The "Mask Get" and "Minor Item Get" sounds from Majora's Mask and OoT respectively are different from the Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, and BotW minor item jingles. They sound nothing alike. Even the OoT and MM jingles you mentioned are different. They both have seven notes, but the actual notes share nothing in common. Maybe the fact that they have seven notes is of significance? Of those mentioned, the only ones that seem identical to one another are TP, SS, and BotW. The actual notes/chords are exactly alike.

In Majora's Mask the mask jingle kind of sounds like a variation of the Song of Healing.

    Hello. A musician here.
The jingle that plays when you pick up an item in BotW _IS NOT_ the same as the notes that play in Majora's Mask when you pick up a mask, and neither is it the same as the song in The Adventure of Link or Ocarina of Time. They are very different notes. Their cadence is the same, much in the same way that the cadence to Twinkle Twinkle Little Star is the same cadence as Hit Me Baby One More Time (and Camptown Races, and Old MacDonald Had A Farm, and my point is that having a shared cadence isn't exactly indicative of a relationship).
EDIT: Just in case anyone wants to disagree with me on this, the notes that play are
*BOTW* (Key of F♯) - F♯ A♯ C♯ B D♯ F♯ C♯ ; an ascending F♯ major triad followed by another ascending triad of that previous triad's subdominant chord, finishing with the subdominant note of the first triad that was played
*MM* (Key of C modulating to A) - B A F B A B C♯ ; this is actually a variation of the Song of Healing leitmotif playing (thematically appropriate given the healing involved with collecting masks) which is a descending diminished subdominant triad followed by a "2 1 2 3" of the new key of A that the song modulated to without you even realizing it
*TAOL* (Key of B♭) - D B♭ F E♭ B♭ G F ; a descending 2nd inversion B♭ major triad followed by a descending 1st inversion triad of the subdominant, finishing with the subdominant note of the first triad
*OOT* (Key of A♭) - A♭ F D♭ B♭ G E♭ A♭ ; a descending triad of the subdominant followed by a descending triad of the dominant finishing with the root note
*TP and SS* actually are the same jingle as BotW, that's true.

Zeltik... What if those are Zeda's drawings in Impa's house? Or descriptions of her dreams, and Impa drew them out thinking they were important? Impa was Zelda's Royal attendant, and put stock in her dreams. Perhaps she made notes of them, or had Zelda draw what she had seen.

The grave reference is a bit deeper than what you went into in this. FF 1 NES and Famicom version had a reference since the beginning, but was different due to release dates in Japan and here at minimum, and other factors I assume. In the NES FF 1, we got a reference to Erdrick, and if you ask me, seeming to indicate in America that it was felt Dragon Quest was a either bigger competitor, or maybe more like-for-like game (also a more recent release to us than Adventure of Link). At least one other version kept the Erdrick reference here. But in Japan, and all other US releases, it was a reference to Link. It's also important to note that this all started when Squaresoft and Enix were different companies, meaning originally it was just Squaresoft basically saying "we're on top of you both", as Enix, the original owners of Dragon Quest, and Nintendo were all competitors at the time. And looking over release dates, it seems we didn't get it at all in the US copy because Adventure of Link came out here before the other two, despite Dragon Quest release predates Adventure of Link in Japan. And in Japan, Adventure of Link was released much closer to FF 1.

Regarding fact number 2, Squaresoft and Enix hadn't merged yet at that point in time. That merger happened in 2003. So they weren't really reciprocating a reference with a reference, it just looks like that now because they now own Dragon Quest. But at the time Square owned Final Fantasy and Enix owned Dragon Quest. As a side note, though, for some reason in the English version of the original release of Final Fantasy (i.e. the NES version) also referenced Erdrick, instead of Link like the Japanese version, which I think is kind of a funny coincidence when looking at the situation as a whole. All future remakes / ports keep it as Link in all languages though, with the exception of one remake that makes it Erdrick in all languages.

I like the idea of Louise being a wanderer who you can find in places she has no right to be in with a variety of characters. Much like some real cats Louise has multiple families and “owners” who all call her different names. All of them admit to not knowing where she wanders off to sometimes or that she has other “owners” but know she’ll be back eventually. From the heart of Death Mountain to the throne room of Zora’s Domain. Maybe even cuddling in Yeta’s lap after you defeat Blizzeta. Maybe once you enter an area it’s a random chance that she’ll show up, really adding to the adventures an outdoor cat could have.

I've noticed that the item get tune that plays when you get a spirit orb is the same one that plays upon getting a piece of heart in Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. It makes sense considering the spirit orbs are basically Breath of the Wilds heart pieces, but still something to note.

  • @aammirati91

I'm gonna have to contest that whole last bit with the item sound. Only Skyward Sword and Twilight Princess match Breath of the Wild's notes (with a little more flair on the last note for each). As for the others, Ocarina of Time definitely uses its own set of notes for both small chest and rupee, but this is distinct from the set in SS/TP/BotW, and the ones in Majora's Mask and Zelda 2 are also unique from these and each other. That makes 4 distinct sets. I knew something was up because I KNOW the Majora's Mask sound by heart. It's based on the Song of Healing (first three notes same). Definitely not used anywhere else as far as I know.

Not sure I quite agree about the mask obtained jingle from Majora's Mask, I can see that it riffs on the base jingle but it's more based on the Song of Healing from what I can tell, which makes sense since the song is behind a number of the masks in-game

Use the hookshot to enter the Forest you cannot enter otherwise. Use the hammer on rusty switches. How to make a fire arrow for eye switches. How to work the sunlight switches. How to get the pesky key in the Shadow temple. Raising the water levels with the Trice force crests in the water temple. May not be foresight. Could be architectural plans if Sheikah were involved in the construction of the temples, or just Impa collecting knowledge of the temples for her library.
