  • How to replace/upgrade the governor pressure sensor and solenoid in my 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 with a 48re transmission. My understanding is this is the same for the 46re and 47re transmissions also.
I am not a professional. but this was pretty easy.

You just described my problem perfectly. My local transmission shop gave me an $1100 estimate to replace the solenoid. Thank you for the video

I went ahead and installed a BD-diesel transducer along with the Borg Warner governor solenoid and adjusted band. Seems to be running stronger with good shifts. Great video details.

When doing this job. Its a good time to change filter and install a deeper pan for cooler trans oil or atleast an aftermarket pan with a drain plug

      Install
      Nut weld to pan
Bolt with crush washer flush with nut .
No need for 300$ after market pan
      Weld 2 pans
Now you have a deeper pan and keep hundreds $

Hay i liked your video. I'm in the middle of this same project on my second Gen Ram 2500 gas . I need more information did you use RTV on the transmission pan ? And did you use a paper gasket or rubber ? The rest of the information you put in the video was like Gold to me.
    Thanks

Can you tell me if that is also the temperature sensor for the transmission too? I have an 03 Cummins with the 48re, and my trans temp reading just went away on my Smarty Touch. Still shifting just fine but I'm assuming the temp sensor failed.

Yes there is a kit where you re-lace both the pressure solenoid and the transducer, common problem on these and they both should be changed

I’m lost over here with my 04. It suddenly stopped locking up, and I have no trouble code at all. We hooked into a live data scanner and it appears the computer is commanding the tcc solenoid as we can watch it go from low to high volts (assuming of to on) when driving however the tc will not lockup. I have no issues with shifting it goes through the gears just fine like I said it just will not lock up. Do you know if this could be the issue? I’m going to go check all electric external of the trans now that I have a day off it’s my daily tho and don’t want to tear it down and possibly not have a way to work Monday. Any info is greatly appreciated

That sounds like trans temp sensors, sending low voltage low temperature signal to the computer, computer is thinking it just needs to warm up that's all so it's not allowing lockup

      Ebay

    • @Roller76
      @Roller76 3 года назад

@@Tieknee No disrespect but I wouldn't buy any parts from ebay. They may be cheaper, in price, than all other part stores but there's a reason for that. Unless you know for a fact that the part your getting is a brand name other than that they are all from China. Some people may shrug and not care, but I'd assume everyone's vehicle is your means to get to work, which is most important. And that's just one reason to use quality parts. Plus why go through all that trouble just to put in a cheaply made part that is fairly important in making the vehicle go.
Best way to go about it, if you can wait, is order from Rockauto.com. They have the best prices. BUT I way my pros and cons with buying locally because if you buy a Standard Electric Product they have a lifetime warranty. I replaced a Throttle Position sensor with a Standard and about a year later it went bad. I took it back to O'Reilly's and they replaced it no questions asked.

hey @Tieknee, amazing video, hopefully it helps with my install, I noticed that when you installed you're solenoid, that you might've connected the connector upside down, it looks like you got the Borg Warner Solenoid, and if so, they require you to turn the connector 180 degrees around for the connector to snap onto the tab, I found this out on this video! ruclips.net/video/PcPtT1NpBhQ/видео.html . hopefully im wrong and you havent had additional issues with your trans requiring you to drop your pan again! I see its been over 2 years now. Thank you again for this informational tutorial.
