I'm going to tell you two of my experiences. I almost bled to death when I was little, but a female doctor who was a graduate from Yale saved my life. My male doctor almost misdiagnosed me with leukemia, but my female doctor gave me a diagnosis of ITP. She saved my life. My sister went to a doctor from that same clinic and he almost diagnosed her for a rare disorder that makes your skull collapse. We got a second opinion and she has a severe sinus infection where she could've became blind. Through these experiences I have reflected that you need to research your doctors and make sure they are the competent type.

I have RA (also an autoimmune disease) and boy was it a struggle to finally get a doctor to listen to me like I wasn't crazy about the pain and fatigue I was feeling. There is no test for RA that's a guarantee like many illnesses. Having the diagnosis and finding others like me didn't take away the physical pain, but it was a measurable improvement to my happiness. To have a doctor acknowledge my pain as real, was one of the most gratifying moments in my life. Finding people like me who have been working on feeling better was a game changer. They gave me better advice than any doctor ever has. I second the other poster on diet. What I eat really does have a big impact. I kept a food journal and the patterns where clear to be seen. I still have flare ups, but they are endurable now that I understand the nature of my illness and that the pain isn't a sign of something slowly killing me or something.

Sunlight and led light causes seizures and strokes and shuts down my ability to process information or move my limbs at times. I’ve had to live in darkness alone for 7 years straight now. That’s the only answer they can give me. Stay inside and away from light. Forever. I spent my entire life exploring the mountains and the desert. I was studying science. I can barely walk half the time or remember anything anymore. I’m a mother of 4 and grandma of 2. I’m 40. My mother and daughter are also sick but not allergic to light. Lupus patients are most like me but I still don’t fit in that category either. Ms was suggested but again the light is such a trigger they don’t really know. I have been left to just die in darkness. I’m called a vampire and told to move to a dark hole or to Alaska. It’s quite humiliating and very painful. Diet helps a lot but not enough. I don’t eat much because my body can’t process a lot of nutrients before my kidneys or liver shuts down. Medicine trials have almost killed me more times than I can count. For the first 10 years it wasn’t as bad. I would just get tired and a rash. It slowly took my life away. That’s my story anyway. Sorry about the long post.

He also took a test and it came back negative. 2 years later he went missing for four days. January 28/2009, the police found him in a field almost a mile away from his vehicle and three hours away from where we lived. He was tired of the specialists not believing him and ended up taking his own life at the age of 50 leaving me a widow at 40 years old with two boys to raise on my own. This is going down in my book as 1 of the greatest TEDx Talks ever. I got sick about 5 years ago, but it wasn't COVID related. The doctors couldn't figure it out and tried to convince me it was psychosomatic. The only compassion or help I received was mostly from female doctors. The males were completely uninterested in "figuring it out" and treated me like I was a child just like her. I noticed obvious things in my lab-work and procedure reports the doctors had missed, almost as if they weren't looking. It was as if I had to figure it out myself. The problem was I was in no mental condition to do so. To be so intelligent and respected and overachieving, only to then be belittled by the doctors, was a humiliating experience I never want to go through again. I'm left now with chronic fatigue and am just a shadow of who I use to be. Something has to change. There are waay too many of us out here.

You have to do your own research. There are medical websites that narrow down your symptoms and link them to chronic diseases or conditions. Which area does it affect; we have 11 systems, cardio, circulatory, integumentary, skeletal, etc.
Try to retrieve you medical history information before you were sick and compare it to after you were sick. Talk to blood related family members to see if their is a family history on either side. Bottom line you have to do alot of homework. Check your diet. Keep a daily journal. Do you need to upgrade your health insurance. What is or was your occupation and does it have a health risk factor. Alot of the work will fall to you.

Nurses are almost always better at this than doctors! I’ve suffered from chronic illness, and pain from an injury, for years. Doctors told me I didn’t have endometriosis until my uterus and abdomen were too full of adhesions to remove! I was told I had “no injury” to my neck and, after 20 years, I got new imaging and found my top rib had been lodged under my collarbone, the whole time. I had it put back in place, and have not had that pain again, but my shoulders are full of debilitating dystonia from being stuck that way for so long. I was told I didn’t have multiple bladder infections and yeast infections that were always improved by antibiotics and Diflucan. I didn’t test positive about 3/4 of the time, but it’s extremely obvious when you have a yeast infection, and all STD tests were negative, too. All the while, nurses have just helped me and done what worked, clinically, including treating me for Osteomyelitis diligently for months, before it was confirmed by biopsy. Yes, a doctor grudgingly signed the order, but nurses really listened and did what it took, until I felt OK. Same with my ehrlichiosis, when my Nurse Practitioner kept on testing, after doctors dismissed me for suspecting Lyme disease that didn’t show up (ehrlichiosis is also a tick-borne illness, with similar symptoms). I owe my life, and my quality of life, to nurses. Thank you for what you do!

My shortness of breath was to the point that I couldn't have a conversation. Doctor told me it was anxiety, asthma (which I've never had in 65 years), and to go home and relax. Both times that I thought I wouldn't make it through the night and called the nurse helpline, I was told if you start to turn blue go to the E.R. I survived without medical help but I still have brain fog. It's terrible the way women, minorities, and veterans are treated. Thank you for speaking up.

I’m so glad I ran into your video. I tested positive for covid on December 16, 2021, which triggered my asthma. I ended up in the ER on January 1, 2020 as my chest began tightening so much that I could hardly take a breath in. I praise God for the shift of doctors that were working when I arrived at 2am at Newton Wellesley Hospital in Massachusetts! My doctor was very thorough and explained everything, even without me asking. He did so many test on me that I was surprised. I made sure to stare at his name tag several times so that I could reference him later. Thank God for His guidance in doing so. Because the shift of doctors that came on around 7 am that morning, were the opposite and the doctor I had on that 2nd shift, wanted to send me home; even after I answered with much doubt about doing so. Then I remember Russell, the first doctor. I began referencing him and stating what he told me and how he didn’t want me to leave until my heart rate had returned to normal. All of a sudden, “okay, Ms Landrum, we won’t send you home until you are comfortable”. From your talk, I can clearly see how this particular doctor didn’t want to admit that he was wrong for trying to get me up out of there. The simple statement, “ Well Russel said…”, which I said as often as I had to, made the difference and caused the other doctors to stand at attention and listen.

This video should be presented in doctors conferences/education forms.
This is a very powerful talk in so many ways and on so many levels. Thank you very much.
I did not have Covid and hopefully I never will.
I had a flu shot and after my 12 hour shift I went to our emergency department regarding symptoms. Immediately I was told it was not the flu shot. I told our Occupational nurse what had happened and her comments were similar. Neither one of them had an open mind and said it’s not the shot.
They treated me similar to your experience.
I am not below them and I know my body. I am a person that was affected by a flu shot and hoped for answers and help.
I looked up online and found others who had the same situation as me. It did not change things but it comforted me to know I was not alone. It’s a month and a half later and my hip is not any better except the burning down the leg and hip is gone. Walking any stairs is challenging as it was not before.
I am grateful that I did not have to go through your extremely difficult situation.

The western medical paradigm actually has a poor record with chronic disease in general. Probably owing to the philosophical assumptions and naivite that underlies much of the profession's history. Descartes, after all, basically viewed the human body as an android inhabited by a ghost. With such a simplistic view of a human person, it's no wonder that medical outcomes can be so poor in our society when diseases don't have obvious causes.

I believe all types ,professionals, races, ages, can become addicted, but does that mean they should suffer from other illnesses? Did it ever occur to the morality judges that maybe this or that person 's addiction started because of great pain. I am not attacking anyone personally what i am trying to get at is yes i understand some people will want drugs from doctors but all people get sick and we have no right to judge. I just recently found out about medical gaslighting and did not know it was a real term. I knew it happened because it had to me many times. I just did not know it had a name. It is so very sad that it has a name because that means it happens that much. It is almost like we ask the medical community to police itself and we know it won't do that. I think they really need to make a huge effort to change. Much like other organizations in our society.

Infact no one knows how this virus works. I was struggling from health issues for more than a month but never expected it would turn out to covid 19 after a month. My days were so horrible proir to the onset of symptoms. High heart beat rate, high bp, will feel dizziness while walking, will feel dizziness while getting up from seat, even any emotional situations or talks, especially anger, will show improper or rapid palpitations. I was wondering what was wrong with me. This lead to anxiety. Because i dont know what was happening. Indigestion used to be there in every one or two days. Surprisingly this all symptoms were present when there was not any covid symptoms. But once i got fever, this all symptoms went off. And new symptoms, which is usually considered for covid started. Infact the symptoms in assymtomatic is worst. And i feel this virus will stay dormant within body. And activate during favourable condition. Dont know why i feel this. I think may be bcoz it took too long to get cured unlike any other disease. It is a poison rather than a virus. Poison designed to float in air with the help of spike protien. Its designed for destruction, destruction of citizens part by part, gradually distorting cell by cell. This is what i learnt, it harmfully sequenced poison.

Men don’t go to doctors so when they present their bodies are compost whacked up. But women do tend to go at the unset. But then doctors think we are crazy. This also applies to a work world. Women say an opinion and are expected to prove without a shadow of a doubt that it is right. A man does not.

The second week, I could not breathe anymore; I felt cold coming from every extremity into my chest; I told my wife, "If I died tonight, I want you to know that you are my one and only love," I closed my eyes and didn't remember anything else. This lasted almost 2 months, and the COVID-19 test was unavailable to the public and was in short supply. My retina doctor ordered an antibody test four months later, but nothing showed up. I could still not mow the yard or sing and constantly coughed. I was in the middle of my MAF and had to drop out of the program. It took me around 6 months to fully recover from it; oh! And I still wear a mask; I don't care what uneducated people say; I just don't trust them!

We did Box jumping (dunno the English word for this, sry) and we were jumping for hours. At night my whole body was hurting and I struggled with breathing cause even that hurt. I lived in a boarding school at that time and my nurturer immediately assumed the flu like with many other pupils. Next day the doctor didn't even look at us (we were 4 ppl from different classes in his office) and I was sent home ill. Well. It only needed a mom who actually listens to find out what was bothering me. Not the flu, what a surprise. Only the worst sore muscles I ever had. All over my body. As a very sympathetic person, I finally came to the age old conclusion that experience is the best teacher. SO tired of being asked: on a scale of 1-10, where would you rate your pain today? This seems to me the least productive question with zero technology. Had Covid 19 back in the winter and canceled my monthly medical appointment to protect others and after hearing my symptoms, my doc agreed. He simply called in a Z-PAC and a round of anti inflammatory tablets which I asked my son to leave on the porch for me. Unfortunately I’m got textbook and haven’t got well, although Covid and Flu tests can’t back negative. I also have Parkinson’s so life has become a battle of survival now. No fever here either quite the opposite, with my temp dropping down to 94 sometimes, constant chills rotating with smothering sweats. Was very close to death and finally had a bad gallbladder removed in October returning the ability to keep foods and liquids down, gained weight back to 78lbs before Covid took me back down to 72. Back up to 78 now with my short term goal of 80. Was enjoying food so very much again before Covid knocked me back down, but climbing back up by making myself eat. Enjoyed that short time of pleasure between surgery and Covid, although surgery pain hasn’t left yet LoL. Presurgery
      tests also negative btw.
God bless this beautiful soul for her honesty bc I know from experience she is being very truthful. Would love to say she will remain in my prayers but I can’t lie: thanks to Parkinson’s and malnutrition, I have already forgotten her name that quickly? Parkinson’s is a killer too, so please keep check on anyone in your family who has it. Sure, research on it is a money grab as of now so it’s a hush hush killer. But we who have it learn as it progresses how cruel it really gets, and as far as I know, nobody is honestly even researching this; only pharmaceuticals to help symptoms. After offering my help, I earned soliciting calls and letters for money to the point of blocking them like people trying to sell extended auto warranties on my 11 year old car. I simply wanted information on dealing with symptoms, or to help them learn since mine has progressed so far. They wouldn’t listen, just sent a package on how to recognize onset of LoL. Symptoms from a couple years ago in my life. Please pardon typos from tremors, vision issues and headache. Wanted to share in case it may help someone in any way.
James, thank you for your time. At this time I’ve forgotten the topic, so can’t be of much help. GBU

Awe, usually don’t wish any pain on anyone. Now I wish each doctor could be trained by one day each week “in the life of” each patient they treat rather than the extremely expensive high college payments paid for the MD Certificate. This would award patients with better healthcare while affording dedicated people with higher education. But would not prove as beneficial for the Insurance Companies in which they ultimately end up employed by, so that’s a dreamful wish. Thank you :)

I've been sitting out in my back yard and walking around barefoot for about an hour or so (or only just 30 minutes if I don't have much time) for the last few months and it helps me feel calmer. Wooow what a touching, amazing testimony. Humility is key. Put your ego aside.. Treat the patient not the symptoms especially if it seems so unclear. I can't begin to imagine the ordeal you've gone through in the name of compromised ethos, intergrity of such a noble profession as Medicine.. Attitude is also important when treating patients and to assist them in making informed decisions. Unfortunately most doctors fail to communicate effectively with patients attributing this to a feeling that we have little information and it does not seem to bother explaining diagnostic procedures and medical impacts on patient's health. So frustrating but hey I admire your resilience. Well done!!

I was raised to have a deep respect for doctors and nurses. Then I grew up only to discover that the overwhelming majority of them were and are outrageously arrogant with the emotional IQ of a snail. While I empathize and respect them for their valiant effort that they put forth during Covid to serve us, I sadly must admit to having a strong disdain for them as a whole now. And I literally have to pray before and during appointments not to allow that bias of mine to color my interactions with them.

Nurses are trained to be patient advocates, but, most of the people in doctor’s offices are NOT nurses. They are techs. Some even have the gall to call themselves nurses. Nurses are RN’s and LPN’s. The nursing profession is being watered down to save money. They were part of the system of checks and balances that helped identify and eliminate problems in hospitals and with doctors. Now they are powerless.

@@ccc-yp8ot i had to call a doctor to speak with them about a patient of mine. Someone answered the phone and said "nurse line, how may I help you?" I proceeded to explain to her in medical terms the issue, thinking I was speaking to a nurse. She got angry and told me to slow down and that she didn't know what I was talking about. I was confused and asked her if she was the nurse. She said no. I asked to speak with the nurse. (After all, it was the nurse line) she stated that there were no nurses, only medical technicians.

I had to go to 3different hospitals before my daughter was treated, cause they kept saying if she not better or get worst bring her back they was giving her meds and it was making her sicker and she kept throwing up and having real bad pains. I had to be like look something need to be done I can’t keep going back home with her just to have her crying out in pain and throwing up and end back up in E.R.

A good question to ask is has she been getting flu shots all along. Our immune systems are gifts from God. Our bodies want to self heal. We are exposed to a lot of toxins. This sounds like severe toxicity and actually a vaccine induced illness. We are not immune from problems. Our bodies have to be able to handle what comes our way.

So sorry you’re suffering thru this illness & hoping for your complete wellness.
I’m one with cardio issues and cardiologist can find no reasons for the constant yet unpredictable unstable heart ♥️ rates and lost of consciousness.
There’s no rhyme or reason to these episodes . Absolutely none. I’ve worn the monitor for up to 14 days at a session with very little or no no unusual activity & inadvertently sometimes later I’ll have one of these episodes. Only two this year to point of complete unconsciousness. I dare not cook when I’m home alone bc I’ve once had near fateful situation, etc. The last total unconscious episode being May 25 & I was home alone. I feel so damn silly trying to explain to my cardiologist what’s actually happening.
