I think my biggest disappointment in Witch Queen was how little they used Hive Guardians. Honestly a cool feature they could add to strikes is to have set spawns of potential "hive ambushes" with a Hive Lightbearer leading a group to try and stop you. Hell set it so that sometimes they don't spawn to keep players on their toes.

The incessant whining of this community has been the only thing all year that made destiny worse. I love logging into destiny every day and participating in the large variety of content available. I love listening to the lore and looking at fan theories, art, concepts... The most exhausting thing in destiny is opening Twitter or reddit for more than 20 minutes and being told that the game isn't fun because it isn't.
After watching the video, I feel you glazed over the positives of witch queen and its year of post launch support and a lot of the criticism you aimed at the game felt very vague, like you were hinting a larger motive on bungie's part when there just isn't one.
It's OK if you're feeling some destiny burnout man, we all do sometimes. But holy hell this video just felt like a compilation of the communities most reactionary hot takes presented as a year in review, and a waste of 44 minutes of my time.
This is a long comment just because this video felt very pessimistic, which is completely the opposite of my experience with the game. But, I do want to say you are one of the most important content creators for this game and I do appreciate what you do. Also, I don't think all of your criticism is invalid either. Bungie still has a lot of holes in the ship they need to patch. I just feel like destiny is pretty far from being better without the Witch Queen.

And the hive being homicidal is irrelevant because when you are resurrected all your old memories/tendencies are supposed to be wiped clean...so it would be surprising for some ghost if their new hive guardian would start behaving like it used too....granted I don't think they intended anyone to really look that closely at any of these reason so all arguments are basically paper thin.

When the Traveller gave them the “go ahead” to revive the Hive and they were approached by Savathun/Immaru to do so, that was the incentive they needed. Sure, the Shuro Chi checkpoint is the fastest, but that's strictly for those who are making it their sole effort instead of... you know, interacting with the other aspects of the game. You did that to yourself and you literally played yourself into making it a negative experience. Instead of investing time into playing other experiences in the game, you made it a chore. That's not the games fault for making it a negative, that's your own doing. The same could be said when trying to farm random rolls. Why spend 100 hours trying to farm a singular roll? I think that Datto's view on crafting is a good one, its supposed to be a failsafe but people are treating it like the main goal. also I think that efficiency is king, again a mindset change you don't need to be efficient there is a lot of time to do what you want the only reason people feel that the acquiring red boarders and leveling of weapons is a problem is that they are impatient. Also I don't think that the enhanced perks are so much better that most people can tell them apart most perks just increase ease of use by 2 to 3 seconds and most people wont feel the difference unless they are really looking for it. people want stuff as soon as possible which leads them to do unfun things and in the end making the whole experience a bad one. I managed to convince some of my hardcore friends about this and they've had more fun since taking it easy. TLDR if you're not having fun do something that is fun, the point of the weapon crafting system is a failsafe and leveling is supposed to be a passive thing that happens while using the guns you like to use. people will start have more fun if they focus on fun and hyperptimization (unless that's fun for you in which case go ahead). Well this is just my opinion so take it as you will.

For real, I got plenty of good or perfect rolls before coming close to unlock the patterns for most of the weapons. I still crafted them since I had the time to get the patterns, but very little of it would have been necessary. And I'm still grateful for the no RNG option to be there incase I want to try out a specific combo or have bad luck with drops for a while. I really noticed this again with the uncraftable SotW weapons, I still haven't gotten the perk combo I want for the pistol and GL even after 30 full runs and a few additional first / second encounter farms.
Adding enhanced perks at all was a mistake due to how mandatory they feel for many players. As you said the benefits are really minor for most of them and it was only meant for topping up the weapons you like and use regularly already. I never had an issue passively leveling the SMGs for example, they are just good weapons matching my playstyle no matter the perks. I got the mini tool to level 100 in the time it took me to get a scout to level 10, without ever actively grinding for it at all.

Worst Expansions Rank, Walk of Shame (hard truths will be spoken)
1 and 2) Curse of Osiris/Warmind (Activision influence bringing 2 weak expansions that couldnt justify the cost for the content, they dropped in price quickly and they were given for free with Forsaken. Easily the worst expansions of the bunch. The worst one was the expansions Trials shipped with as it had very low amount of content & Trials failed and had to be rebranded. 'It came raw'..
    3) Shadowkeep (weak story, lots of public events tied to the campaign, also it was the pinnacle of unbalance and powercreep (ex Recluse) that started with Forsaken. It eventually led to sunsetting). The seasons before and after were very barebones (dripfeed content) and Season of Undying before Shadowkeep is widely considered the worst Destiny season ever.
    5) Beyond Light (Stasis unbalanced class and the calculated, intended deprecation of the Light subclasses were the least problems. The biggest was the Stasis fragment gathering for all 3 classes which led to a far better Light 3.0 system 1 year later. However Beyond Light had one of the biggest influx of players because of Xbox Pass and Steam). It might be worse than other expansions, but it has one of the highest important expansions for that reason alone.
    6) Witch Queen (made many things correct and introduced many concepts that plague D2, some worked, some didnt work so good. Its most important contribution is in the overall D2 story, previously even the story was dripfeed.
    5) Forsaken (In retrospect, it made many things wrong (gameplay wise), but the community was too eager to absorb the content, which was good. 3 studios worked on it and the level of quality shows. One of its biggest problems was the power creep. Many high-end teams abused the power engram farming to have a chance in the raid. These systems wouldnt fly together in the community. Lastly Forsaken started the big powercreep with Luna's Howl (400-600$ it costed on the black market, can you imagine? Some were asking for even 1000$.) Still, its the best expansion and new players are always amazed at Destiny's best location (Dr.City).
?) Lightfall (Guessing that Lightfall will be around Beyond Light and Witch Queen. Not sure if D2 has the momentum of these 2 expansions but even if it hasnt, Bungie can easily turn this around with price drops and various deals. Also not sure if it really can turn D2's aging problems (grinding, light level farming) and the PvP community concerns as a whole (these are more difficult to fix than a simple handcannon buff). But these will be the major factors (along with story/gameplay) that this expansion will be judged after a few months pass. So all it needs to do is at least be on Beyond Light's level.

The main story of Witch Queen was my favorite, way more than Beyond Light, but as for the Seasons, I'm going to give my pros and cons about them.
    - Season of the Risen
While it was the starting season for Witch Queen, the story as well as the missions were mixed feelings, sure we saw a side of Saladin that I really liked and we get more to Crow's confliction with his past as Uldren Sov, but everything else was not that great but not bad.
    - Season of the Haunted
With the return of the Leviathan, I was hoping we'd get some big fight with Calus after we helped Crow, Zavala, and Caiatl quell their Nightmares, instead, we get a disappointing fight with a sub-par ending, despite us learning that Calus has become a Disciple of the Witness.
    - Season of the Plunder
By far my least favorite in terms of gameplay, while I do like attacking other pirate lords, I felt like we could have had more to it. While the story was also gave me mixed feelings, bringing back Osiris was a nice touch for a bad season.
    - Season of the Seraph
Personally one of, if not, the BEST season for Witch Queen, from returning to one of the old bunkers from Season of the Worthy, to going back to Mars, to going into space and fighting against a now Scorned Praksis, to Rasputin returning but sacrificing himself to save us from Xivu Arath to the final moments before Lightfall, this season gave me hype unlike anything else. My complaints however; are on the encounters for both Mars and Europa, while Mars gives us a chance to reactivate the Escalation Protocols, I feel like the Kelgorath fight could have had less witches than ever, because I cannot tell you how many times I've had trouble with those witches, especially on Europa. The Shrieker Boss for Europa gave me flashbacks to Savathun's Song back on Titan and when I did the Thorn Quest on that very same strike.
These are my personal thoughts about Witch Queen and its seasons, I won't go over the Raids and Dungeons as they had their ups and downs, but at least they'll last and have some fixes to them in the future unlike the Seasons.

We'll probably lose allies, have the witness completely mess us up and feel completely and utterly defeated. Super fitting for how unstoppable we felt this past year.

I have an issue with your opinion about health gated bosses: not all health gated bosses should be put into the same bag, you should distinguish the health gating done in witch queen from the health gating done in other content.
First of all, I see that your main concern is that you think that the only thing introduced with health gating is a form of wasting players time.
This is true in every case in which the health gate does not involve increasing the effort that the player has to do in order to kill the boss (like in strikes, or in seasonal activities, the only thing that varies in these activities when health gates are introduced is the amount of time that the player has to waste).
In witch queen, it also happens (mainly in the europa mission) that you have to spend more time in order to kill the boss because of said mechanic, but in this particular case something makes it different than a waste of time. To make it really clear, after the boss health gates itself, you have to deactivate four shields, and after that, you will be able to kill said boss. In this case, we have a problem: each time a health gate happens, a lot of enemies appear near the shields, and in legendary difficulty, they hit enough in order to kill people with restoration. Because of this, you have to strategically use the cover in order to approach each shield. Not to mention that you have to be further away from each shield because after you finish one of the boss’s health bars, enemies appear near them (something very dangerous). This is why it forces you to think more, to make a greater effort in order to win, and a bigger effort (which is not the same as more time spent) in almost every case involves bigger gratification after completing an activity.
So, it wouldn’t be true that the health gate mechanic makes the campaign worse, it would be invalid to state the opposite as a fact, saying that it makes it worse is only a matter of opinions.
And, in my opinion, the wq campaign is better than some of halo campaigns (obviously not all), so I have to disagree with your last point.

Yeah...I don't agree with most of this. I don't like you're trying to nitpick certain issues and complaining about it. The issue of all light subclasses all having access to all grenades is nitpicky and throws away the main thing about light 3.0. Having access to all the grenades didn't make the classes the same. It's the subclasses themselves. A Void titan doesn't play the same as a hunter or warlock. Just because they can use the same grenades, doesn't make it samey. I agree that the seasonal cycle is stale and needs to change, no doubt about that but you're also implying that we should push Bungie into crunching so we can get these changes sooner. Big changes need time, putting a bandaid on it just because it's OP for a month, doesn't fix the issue.
We want changes, at a reasonable pace and I think they're getting there. It's not perfect, but nothing is. Shouting into the void about speeding it up, only makes them feel worse. This video completely dunks on what was a great expansion. It's not the best, but it's better than what we've gotten over the last few ones.

I feel like a big issue with destiny these days is simply the approach to grinding. I feel like in d1 no matter what type of player you were, you had a grind geared toward your activities. Strikes had heroic strikes, where you could chase good drops as well as strike specific loot, then there was the multiple difficulty levels of the prison of elders, add on raids and PvE players had multiple activities geared toward different levels of skill as well as group size, and on TOP of that we had factions, as well as weekly weapon orders (i forget exactly what they were called, but you basically requisitioned weapons weekly from Banshee). I cant speak for pvp cause i was a pve player back in the day, but with pinnacles you feel shackled to the same grind that bungie has decided is the most fun. For me, i liked being able to choose where to spend my time as opposed to now feeling like if i dont slog through modes i hate and get slapped around until i get a pinnacle for simply being there that i am now wasting time and falling behind. My idea of playing Destiny 2 is a bit over the place, especially with the team I'm in, since some are veteran players from D1 and some are relatively returning players. I do enjoy the end game content now that I can enjoy a raid to completion, but sometimes it feels forced when it comes to keeping the grind up at times. this video honestly feels really half-baked, evan. i understand this is your opinion, but some of your points feel like they ignore crucial bits of information. as other commenters have mentioned,
    - fynch joined us because he saw how the hive used the light and didn't agree with it, and the worm familiar and savathun's worm are different things
    - your argument for community sentiment at an all-time low is the steam charts, which always tend to be low at the end of a season, and especially so at the end of the final season of the year once the seasonal quest ends
    - maybe i'm being nitpicky here, but you commenting on the lack of people in the throne world really doesn't hold up to what i see; usually the throne world is massively populated, and maybe that's due to different servers but it really confuses me
    - the order of dungeons and seasons (especially so with haunted/duality and seraph/sotw) is fine, honestly? how else would the final cutscene go if it was haunted instead of seraph? i feel as well if it was the case that duality and haunted were the last bits of content in the year, many more would complain about calus' storyline being abandoned until the last season and start to feel rushed. seraph makes a perfect end to the year and the perfect preparatory season for lightfall.
    - they need to charge for the season pass for the cost of servers, paying their employees to make lightfall and the final shape, etc etc. as it is a free game, although i do agree with dungeon passes, charging for the dungeons definitely feels a bit messed up to me.
honestly, this video is the one negative video i've seen for the witch queen. there have been far more positives than there have been negatives, and this video seems to me like it's made to be a contrarian point. sure, the witch queen had some rocky aspects, but all in all bungie has learned and it has been a relatively stable dlc.
