How well does the stinger work with off line maps? Do the maps work as good as my jeeps off line off cell phone coverage maps? My jeeps offline knows exactly where I am even when you think there are no roads. Meanwhile google maps only covers in cell phone reception and in cities well.
Hello just purchased this unit waiting for the installation next week. Is the navigation sd card worth adding, or would the navigation from my phone be better? Also if I wanted to add navigation, where is the as card slot? Can you add it once after the unit is installed?
This has the main things I've been looking for as an upgrade to my 05 cummins. 1. Single din (im not cutting into the dash) 2. Volume knob (don't fix what isn't broken) 3. Dedicated gps capability. (I.e. not plugging in my damn phone to be able to use it.) 4. Floating head unit. The rest is all optional stuff that im sure at some point would be nice to hook up but for my truck its not needed. However for stuff like heated seats and camera integration is something I've been looking into down the line so its nice to have controls for it already on hand if I want to go that route.
Is anyone else having problems with the navigation system? I also bought the Navi card when I bought the head unit. Constantly get the message "GPS SIGNAL LOST" while driving down the road. It does whether or not I'm using the GPS. It even does it while using Google maps even though the guidance is clearly working.
Hi you have to use your USB cord to connect to either one and it should work. Make sure the cord isn't long the shorter the better. Just had mine installed this week and learned that
It does have HDMI input as well as component video input. You can connect a device to one of those to view RUclips... Just need to have the parking brake engaged. Safety first!!!
Just ground the parking brake wire to the chassis, thats what I did. then i hooked up a Firestick in mine and was watching Coming to america 2 on mine.
@@jermer808Edit: If you got the Heigh10 system, it'll have EVERY wire labeled with its name on each wire. It's the parking brake switch one and put a small Eyelet connector on and ground it to the chassis of the unit.
@@tvgautomotivespecialties1562 okay so I have a question because I'm trying to decide which system you recommend is better the Stinger Heigh10 or the Kenwood DMX 1057xr
Great question, depends on your vehicle. Kenwood is a great unit. Very comparable. If it’s going into a Jeep then I like the stinger because the fit and finish is better.
I bought it and a tint/music auto shop installed it. I am very happy with it. The 10 inch screen is definitely worth. The reverse gear camera and navigation is very good. I think inputting the addresses could have been a bit easier, but I am not complaining. The navigation is asking for the name of city, or the zip code first, and sometimes, none of them are in the system. You can add additional addresses to the saved places. The music sound is great. The cell phone favorites gives you only 5 people to add. I wish that could have been expanded. Overall I give it 9 out of 10 stars.
Why would these options work with the jl and not the jk I have heated seats I also have doors that open and close along with many of the Same features the jl has.
The biggest difference between the JL and JK are the dash, stinger just created a kit for the JK, at the time of this review that kit wasn’t available. So yes with the correct parts you can also get this option for the JK
I installed this in my 2014 JKU. Haven't found ANY vehicle integration anywhere. VERY DISAPPOINTING Stinger doesn't inform you of What years the integration does work. Best I can tell is it only works on JL and maybe JT.
Quick question. I just got a 2021 Rubicon and looking to upgrade the head unit. After all this time do you still recommend this over the Alpine? I had the Alpine in my JK and it sounded amazing, but this seems to have a lot more options.
Are you still enjoying this unit now that you have more time with it? Really displeased with the stock audio setup on our Rubicon and going with this headunit would make things a bit easier for the amp install. Obviously in addition to all its features and benefits over the 7".
the stinger unit I think is much better than the stock options, and a better price point than the Alpine unit. I also have a pioneer 9" unit that I have been using that I hope to be making a video on in the future. I'm mixed on if I like it but I am still testing all the capabilities. So far for the price I haven't see anything beat the stinger unit .
Is there anyway to skip the annoying Stinger 10s delay when you turn the car on? Aside from some other little things, this unit looks epic once you have it installed.
What a Piece of Junk...Paid good money and had installed here in Sierra Vista, AZ....March of 2022 was my first unit...right away things went bad with this unit....Back-up camera locked up....GPS signal would get lost and many other things went bad....Then a replacement went in around the end of June 2022 and as ell this unit ...The back up camera locked up...GPS gets lost and Locks-up....sometimes cannot answer my phone as it locks up....and now lately this unit goes into rebooting itself when it wants and nothing works....All icons will not work for awhile and thn everything starts to work....I believe it cod be some kind of wiring issue hopefully they will fix when I take it back in Sept.
I don't need a monster screen like this, I just want a touch screen with carplay and a physical volume knob. Seems most of the touchscreen options with volume knobs are all low end junk.
On my third screen, and going back to the shop for a possible 4th one. Have yet to actually enjoy it longer than a week, having issues with it booting up, was told by stinger cs that ita an issue with the brain in the unit and needs an update that came out 2 weeks ago, while the shop installed my third screen they added the new update last week, was actually Thursday they put the 3rd new screen with the update, started having issues today (tuesday). As of right now I do not recommend this product!!
Man that's a sweet radio dam I should of bought that one instead I bought a Tesla android radio for my caddilac escalade It kind of sucks because this dumb ass radio I paid 850 for it does it even have sub output only has 4 rca for voice and has the camera set up doe but I might just see if I can return that radio I bought from Amazon and try to buy that one good stuff
This(Stinger Heigh10) has no capability for apps to be installed I haven't got Android auto to work since I got this thing. The past two weeks it started lagging more and more. The external microphone that I have clipped up into my interior does not work. The green phone button on the steering wheel does not work now, I have to hit the middle one and then my Google Assistant will make the call for me. The USB on the dash barely charges my phone anymore I can't use it I have to use the one in the center console to charge the phone. If you have a sport JL Wrangler you will not have the climate control on your radio. I've seen radios that do so much more with apps, internet, Spotify, etc for literally half the amount of this one. I will be returning this .

If I recall it does.

How much you pay around? Do you recommend?
Can u get other apps like Netflix RUclips on the unit
Does the radio work with voice command from steering wheel? Does it tell you that you have a text message from such and such?such?
Did you have any issues getting the rearview camera guidelines to display? If so how did you fix it?
Can you change the start up screen from stinger to anything else?
Not that I know of. I installed this in my 2014 JKU, No information anywhere about it, so I doubt it.
So the stinger radio uses the factory XM antenna? Does it use the factory microphone for Bluetooth calls?
I just watched an install and it comes w a separate mic and speaker..
What aftermarket speakers did you go with? Also, will it work with the jeep speakers.and can you use RUclips video other apps
Thanks for the tutorial. Do you know if this head unit supports video-in-motion?
Does it fit in a 2017 LT tahoe? Thx Bro!

Still debating between the Stinger and Linkswell 5. The Stinger with Jeep kit is $2000 where the Linkswell is 1300. I’m not sure
Will the gauges be available for jl sport version as well?
I kind of skipped around through the video but is it Bluetooth compatible with my Android phone
Yes

You can do up to 4 cámaras

Yes it will. Both CarPlay and Android Auto will work wirelessly.
