- He came screaming onto the WLS airwaves on May 2, 1960, taking Chicago by storm. His personality was so unique, and his love for rock and roll artists and his teenage audience was so powerful that Dick Biondi aka The Wild I-Tralian, changed the way we listened to the radio. I remember the "Screamer ". All teens loved him in that era.
Dick Biondi was a real gentleman. He was always so nice to kids everywhere. Truly a great American Treasure.
He was at the right place at the right time with the right music. Never happen again those WLS days.
I was born in '77 and grew up listening to Dick Biondi on 104.3 WJMK. A Chicago radio legend!!
I was born in '81, same thing 104.3!!!
Awesome movie for an awesome on-air talent and probably one of the nicest people ever in the business. Thank you.
Thank you, Rob!
RIP Dick Biondi A true legend.
Pam has done it!! Her dream has happened. I could not be more excited for her.
RIP. Thanks
I listened to WAKY 790 in the day time hours, it faded out in the evening, (time ?).
At the time WAKY faded out.... WLS's signal turned up and WOW we had good
music all the time. That was around 1962 (I was 17) on thru adulthood. God
I miss hearing Biondi call out the stations I.D ..... "WLS 890 in Chicago" !!!!!!
We couldn't get WLS in daytime, signal was too weak, but in the evening, OH yea.
We know what you mean, Harold. Biondi lit the world on fire with that voice. That charisma. I hope you’ll get to see the film which will be broadcast soon. Visit our website dickbiondifilm.com. And thank you for sharing your thoughts, we appreciate it.
Rest in Peace Legend!!!
1960 - Dick interviewed me for an intern’s job in radio - then I didn’t make it.
I grew up in Chicago and Oak Park - St. Patrick HS alum.
1961 - I enlisted in the US Air Force till 1965
Spent over 50 years in the computer business.
We lost contact with each other until 1975
Dick was in Myrtle Beach SC…. And I went down to play golf.
At 6AM I’m getting dressed to play and I hear Dick’s voice on WNMB.
I call the station - he remembers me… he says come to the station now.
OK… I finish dressing - missed my schedule TEE time, Dick and I go play golf after
His show ends at 10AM….
Dick tells me when I get back to Maryland (where I live) I will be the WNMB Washington Correspondent
I did that 3 times a week (Mon, Wed, Fri) for 7 years - under the radio banner of “Hello People”. Until the owners sold the station and lots of people got canned…..
Hey - that’s show biz. We have only spoken a few times since he went back to Chicago from NMB.
the last words on his tomb stone should be “I’ll call you” yep I know him pretty well.
I’m old too… 80 now, don’t play golf any more.

1:11 Frankie Valli👍 I remember, when Dick Biondi got fired in Chicago, and the joke he told that got him fired.
