  • Join us on an epic 2000 km road trip from Phuket/Thailand to Penang/Malaysia in our 40 year old Mercedes-Benz 280 TE (W123). Despite of some breakdowns and problems there were lots of highlights like Railay Beach/Krabi, Ko Lanta, Ko Lipe, Georgetown/Penang, Hat Yai, Songkhla and Nakhon Si Thammarat.
We will show you what documents are necessary to cross the border from Thailand to Malaysia with a Thai registered car and how the process at the border looks like at Wang Prachan border checkpoint and Sadao border checkpoint.

Love your videos on this old Benz. I have made two long trips in my 1985 500SEC since purchasing it last July. One from North Carolina to NY and back. The other from NC to Florida and back. The only issue was when I hit NY my shocks hated the battered roads and so I had them replaced. Turns out the shocks were original! Yikes. Otherwise the original owner did all needed maintenance so the SEC is quite nice. It doesn't need much.

Great video of your trip and of your W123. If you drive down south again into Malaysia, you can consider Taiping, Ipoh, Kampar (pass by), Tapah and Cameron Highlands! Am suggesting these places as you prefer to drive along the old highway. Keep up the good work with your videos! Vielen dank.

why wouldn't you carry out a simple service /pre check before setting off? this would have prevented almost all of the issues you faced
