The Incredible Hulk is Extremely underrated. people seem to forget its part MCU
Its also the most over priced on Steelbook though
@@Stuart267 until now. Best Buy has it for $20, whereas the 'blufans' version is $90+
@@xboxgod7725 Dammit! That sucks, here in the UK it costs £35 that's over double the cost of the US version, I just paid £38 for the fancy Zavvi collectors edition of Endgame off a site called CEX
@@Stuart267 zavvi can have bullshit prices for US customers. They want $55 from US customers for 2003 & 2008 Hulk movies as 4K Steelbooks, yet I got 2 copies of 2003 Hulk from Amazon France & a BB steelbook of 2008 Hulk & still saved money instead buying through zavvi
@@xboxgod7725 I know what you mean it is over priced to ship anywhere outside of the UK, which is weird because Zavvi is an American company, CEX is a Brit company that sell Steelbooks dirt cheap. I got the entire Alien 4K collection on Steelbook for under £80-$104 for 6 films is pretty cheap considering the price they sell for on eBay
2008 was a good year for comics movies. Iron Man , Incredible Hulk , Hell-Boy : The Golden Army & The Dark Knight. They were all great .
The Incredible Hulk is underrated
Darby Reviews No, its ok. Hulk 2003 is underrated
Alvaro Nostades no both are underrated
Agreed.
@@alvaronostades2773 2003 is stupid, Hulk doesn't get bigger and taller the more angry he gets, he just gets stronger.
It's technically a spiritual sequel to the 2003 Hulk. It was originally written as a sequel and a lot of those elements are still there.
For anyone interested Ang Lee's 2003 HULK on 4K looks amazing. I know people think this is a bad movie but I love it and Jennifer Connelly in 4K is worth every penny.
The HDR on this disc is absolutely fantastic. Specular highlights abound and look fantastic on the OLED. Fantastic black levels. It makes for a much better viewing experience over the standard blu-ray. I would definitely recommend an upgrade for the visuals alone if your TV handles HDR well, contrary to Jeff's opinion.
Criminally underrated movie. Ferocious, powerful and angry hulk. This is the best representation of the character in the movies. Everything except his leaping was spot on. The angrier hulk gets the stronger he gets, the way he’s supposed to be. Great movie. Nice steelbook.
This movie is one of my major go too!!!! Demo 4k movies for killer bass. The fight scene at the end is a classic.
Underrated Marvel movie, I especially really like the score!
One of the worst easily. It has not aged well.
Agreed, not my favorite but it is definitely better than people make it out to be.
Same these earlier marvel and MCU movies feel like they have a lot more heart. I'd rather watch this or The Punisher over a random Thor, Capn America , etc. Even many good MCU films feel so bland
Connor Stephens its one of the best, ucm got worse by the time, avengers end game was pure shit, FFH was the worst superheroe movie of all time
True, the score is good and certainly better than most Marvel scores.
I can´t speak for the "new" DTS:X audio. Other than that the "old" 5.1 was enough for my neighbour to call the police. That´s always a plus in my book for the mix being extra delicious. Luckily that neighbour is long gone. 🙈
In my opinion, besides all 3 Sam Raimi's Spiderman Films, The Incredible Hulk is my favorite Marvel Superhero Film.
This channel is so informative. I'm learning a lot. I would of never know that all 4k blu-ray will not blow you away. It all depends how the movie was shot and what elements are in the film. Great review!!😊
Watch Pacific Rim in 4K. That was done as a 2K upscale and you'd never know unless you looked it up, it looks phenomenal!
Fun movie - def fallls higher on my list than Thor 2 and Iron Man 2
Just watched this, I forgot I got it on a black friday deal. It's been sitting there on my shelf, thanks to your review I watched it. It was AMAZING sound!
I have the blu ray and the 4k disc, and I showed a buddy of mine a demo of this and he immediately ditched his Bose 321 system and got a receiver and speaker package and hooked it up. I got him into home theater with this movie
Hey Jeff I appreciate your honesty! Good review! I I'm keeping my blu ray version of The Hulk since the 4k picture isn't much better.
Hello, Jeff (Geoff?)! Question: What do you think the chances are that the Bill Bixby / Lou Ferrigno Hulk series will come to 4K? I saw that it made it to blu Ray.
Great review as always... very informative, cheers 👍
Is this audio track different than the previous 4K release for the movie? Is this steelbook actually a different disc?
Great review! I like this movie more than most, don’t see why people hate on it so much
Got a great deal on this one awhile ago. Glad I didn't have to pay top dollar for it. So glad you said that about the audio. 👍
Hey I just purchased the reason you hear all over on the DTS X is because it’s default setting is DTS X MA which is all channels intresting first movie that I've heard with tht mix sounds great worth upgrade .
Dude, first of all, i like very much your channell, i found it recently and is very informative. When you talk about the CGI in this movie i think in all my discussions about it, i never understand why people dislike the Hulk movie of 2003, not only looks better than this one but has a better cast, (i'm not talking about the quality of the actors, i'm talking about fitting the right way into the comics imagery) and the CGI looks awesome. When i watched The Incredible Hulk in 2008, my feeling was like watching a PS4 game, and that was a great disappointment. What is sure is that Marvel, in some ways, tried to link both movies whith the travel of Banner through Southamerica, and that was one of the reasons thet led to the dismissal of Norton who wanted to do a tribute to the series while Marvel wanted to create the MCU. Both movies are fun, but i prefer the one from 2003. Ang Lee is great artist and you can see that in the movie
It's a 2K upscale because it was industry standard at the time to lock them at 2K. That's just as high as the standard was at the time. I'm sure it's been pumped up now because 4K is more common.
Mines been on pre-order...no ship date from bestbuy?
Have you seen the Zavvi steelbook for this? The artwork is phenomenal! They also offer Hulk (2003) or a boxset with both films. Also includes the DTS:X track
Does it come with a digital copy?
Easily my favorite Hulk movie. I was happy with the bluray too. It's a shame the EP couldn't work things out with Edward Norton. Then Norton could have remained a part of the MCU. 🤨
I hear hulk 2003 on 4k is amazing i think both hulk movies are underrated especially the 2003 movie it beats anything mark ruffalo has ever done
For sure! I thought this version was okay but I actually like the one Ang Lee did better too bad it doesn't get more recognition
Gabe H i know right
I have the 4k version of hulk 2003... And have a very good picture... Also is 4k di
That's good to hear it has a 4K DI that's awesome!
This will be released in a few weeks?! This 4k steelbook was supposed to come out several months ago but never did. The original release date, and any release date for that matter, has also been removed from the pre order listing on Best Buy site for quite some time now. Those who have preordered it never received it on its original announced release date and have no idea when its releasing. How did You get this and what sources know the date when this thing is actually coming. Fans have been in the dark on this steelbook!
True. I have mine pre-ordered and I'm still waiting
Thank you for your honest review.
One of my favorite MCU movie ..... I mean it's Edward Norton VS Mark Ruffalo, what more can I say? In the early days of MCU they really try to pick actors that can carry the film all by themself despite the story. Him & Robert downey jr were exactly that.
I own it on Blu-ray and I love it
I got both Hulks with that awesome collector's set from zavvi in 4k. Love those 2 especially the 1st and didn't even think about it to upgrade to 4k, even if it's little difference in image quality. Just to point out that we see these blue rays that look very cool compare to the 4k in 4k tvs...
Hey just thought you should know your audio sound slightly muddled and distorts when your voice gets louder. Probably just this video
Enjoy the channel thanks for the great reviews
I have a technical question: Do standard Blu Rays, 1080p, look as good on 4K TVs as they do on standard hi def, 1080p, TVs? The reason I ask is DVDs look better on standard def sets than they do on hi def sets.
The film was a joint project between Universal (because they own the Hulk) and Marvel Studios. It doesn't have the logo because Universal made the film and distributed it. I believe the Spider-Man films don't have the Marvel Studios logo in it either.
Still have the blu ray in the green blu ray case, always know where it’s at in the shelf😂
Same here. I believe the green case adds more specialty. Also there were only a limited number of them . Did yours also come with a holographic cover?
Unfortunately no, picked it up at a pawn shop like 7 years ago for $2
How would you feel if they applied film grain to the cgi parts in post? Would that blend?
George Rios I’m not sure how to handle it 100% right. You could do what you are suggesting, but I think the real solution is to shoot digitally if you’re going to use a lot of CGI. But nowadays with CGI technology you can probably get away with it better than they could in 2008
@@JeffRauseo right. With some of the video games I've been playing such as, "Star Wars Battlefront 2" and "Call of Duty: Warzone", they both have film grain affects that look pretty convincing. It would be interesting to apply those to movie cgi and see what happens!
Hey Jeff, Should I get the 4K of Parasite, or get the Criterion. Im torn
It was digitally shot at 6k and I think the disc looks amazing!
I'm a Criterion collector and I have no intention on buying the Parasite Criterion.
Travis Spazz same
IMO the only reason to get the Criterion is it will contain the B&W version.
@@travisspazz1624 thanks ya'll
I've been waiting for my steelbook forever. Was supposed to be out back in May but ended up as "delayed" by BB. Hope you're right that it's coming in a few weeks.
September 8th
Norton at the end of the movie made you feel there were awesome things to follow in a possible sequel.
That's because there was but norton didn't want to do it. He didn't even want to do this movie
@@BradShaw1690 Norton most definitely did want to do this movie, and was instrumental on how it was made. He just butted heads with Marvel on future productions and money.
Which are the five best 4K MCU movies in your opinion? Just based on the picture quality.
Thanks!.. I Believe The More CGI Gets More Believable, EVENTUALLY They Will Be Outdated,Hence Christopher Nolan Likes To Use Practical Effects As Possible..But Hopefully They Don't Become Outdated..
Great Review Jeff.. I Hope Lord Of The Rings Doesn't Look Outdated When It Eventually Comes Out..
Could you make a video on your sound setup ?
I would like to see that as well.
Hey Jeff , question for you. From 9ft away what would you rather have 65" A8H oled or a 75" 950h led for 4k movies? The room can get pretty dark
If the room gets dark why not go OLED and get even darker!
@@JeffRauseo that's what I'm leaning towards. everywhere I read though, it says to go larger
Its the best sound ive heard felt like helicopter was crashing on you.and yes the picture ain't great.but its worth it for that dtsx audio
Can you do a review on the original Blade Runner 4k, if you have not already?
Give the 4K release of Ang Lee’s 2003 “Hulk” a look. Massive improvement over the Blu-Ray. (And my preferred Hulk solo movie.)
I have the blu-ray steelbook which looks the same, probably gonna pass on this! The CG is a little outdated! appreciate your review Jeff!
ive been on the fence too. it its not much of an upgrade on the 4k im not going to bother either. especially for that price.
I recently saw the Blu-ray and yup doesn’t look that great.
Best Marvel movie ever made.
Hey, If my tv and soundbar both have eARC, can I connect my UHD player to the tv and get Dolby TrueHD?? Or do I need to connect player striaght to the soundbar??
Probably, assuming the TV & soundbar also support TrueHD (and Atmos over TrueHD).
@@richellebrittain2127 tv and soundbar both support TrueHD, so I should be good right?
@@raider52cg Yeah. Just make sure they're both eARC & TrueHD compatible as you say. (DTS-HD MA would help too, if not DTS:X.)
To all you Hamilton Book fans, they currently have the OOP Ringu collection box set for $60. Snag it while it lasts
Love all the info on your channel.. do you collect any hd dvd?
yeah this movie does have the best dtsx sound for sure. i would even say better than most atmos flicks as well.
silly question, what is grain?
Film grain: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Film_grain
Speaking of the best DTS:X audio. IMAX Enhanced pops in my mind. Maybe you could do tech review/info about that - if your setup support that. Not many titles to support it - Bad Boys for Life is the latest. IMAX Enhanced does some tricks on video and audio. At least on video side there is one negative issue - that system will reduce noise and grain.
Great film
For those who collect Steelbooks, not having the Marvel Studios logo on the spine is a major let down. Even their standard 4K release had the correct Marvel logo on it. And the disc used in this steelbook looks identical to the standard 4K release from years ago. It would put it down to the Universal marketing department not paying attention.
The Steelbook for The Incredible Hulk is one of the most expensive out of the MCU Blu Rays
Most people are interested in audio more than video. I purchased it today on Amazon for $9.99
Why is does it look like the wording on your shirt is digitally added? It doesn't look natural.
Loved this movie more than Iron Man 2. 🤘
Too bad it's a movie that i don't feel like watching again in my life
*HULK SMASH!!!*
I need a new hulk movie it’s been so long
Who would you prefer to return as Bruce Banner/Hulk? Norton, Ruffalo or someone new?
Ricardo To be honest I’ve always wanted Norton in the role especially in the avengers but I really liked Ruffalo in the avengers and wanted to see his own movie but ever since marvel’s been mistreating the character I’ve been wanting someone new in a stand-alone reboot similar to daredevil (Netflix) or Joker
I definitely liked this version best. I didn’t care for Ruffalo at all and they changed the look of the Hulk to look too much like Ruffalo
The Avengers Hulk is arguably the best version after the "abomination" that was Ang Lee's film. The Incredible Hulk could have been so much better but the acting outside of Ed Norton was horrible as well, as was the script. Decent action scenes though
Edward Norton was hard to work with, and they opted for Ruffalo for that reason.
Moe247365 Edward from what i hear actually did rewrites to the script to add more layers to the character development and the studio cut all those scenes out i think he beats anything mark ruffalo has ever done mark is too happy go lucky fucking smiling his tits off bruce banner is not supposed to be happy go lucky he is supposed to be impulsive demanding and cold and is supposed to have alot of repressed anger and hatred
Jackko 3.0 agreed. Norton tried to capture the feel of the bill bixby incredible hulk series.
AdamCarter MI5 yeah that was a great show it deserves a blu ray release
Jackko 3.0 they have it in the UK. And if you know how to download it for free online. It looks amazing. The blurays from the uk wont play in USA bluray machines, but the bluray rips play perfect.
AdamCarter MI5 i dont know if they play in Australian machines
HULK SMASH
Still waiting for lord of the rings 4k edition
Frustrating you have this steelbook when I ordered mine back in March and I still don’t even have a release date on my order
Andrew Parr September 8th
Films At Home yeah I’ve heard rumor this and 47 Ronin are coming that day but why won’t BB share that date?
Andrew Parr I’m not sure but I also have 47 Ronin
Films At Home 47 Ronin steelbook? I already have the standard 47 Ronin 4K release
Andrew Parr yeah the Steelbook. I got all of these from HiDefNinja and Universal
First!
I'm staying with blu ray not switching to 4K anytime soon
OK KAREN 🏳️🌈🤣🏳️🌈
@@TRUMP_2024_PREZ ok gurl have u seen the prices for 4k like cmon dude
Edward Norton > Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner
Disney is the WORST for a lot of reasons but also their 4k's suck.
2003 don't exist to me its garbage
I remember revisiting this film during my marathon before Infinity War. I hadn’t seen it since it came out. I remember really liking it. WOW this movie has NOT aged well in the slightest. I found it to be painful at times and just a slog to get through. Say what you will about the Ang Lee hulk, but it least he was trying to do something interesting and different. This is easily one of the worst MCU films to date.
Great review of a mediocre movie.
The production team really should've used the older silver/bronze age Hulk comics (68-85) for creative reference than the post 2000 comics they did use.
To be fair it was better than the cinematic shit sandwich Ang Lee served up but it is still inferior to any of the other MCU movies.
