    "It's not a distain for relationships on screen, it's a distain for **heterosexual** relationships on screen." • @kathycoleman4648
      @kathycoleman4648 4 месяца назад +1

      Yes. Because the default of women IS to not want men. A man has to become worthy of her desire, which is why we have so many stories about this from practically every era of history. A woman's most solemn duty is actually to NOT have sex. Having sex is the exception, not the rule.

    • @julius-stark
      @julius-stark 4 месяца назад +4

      @@kathycoleman4648 I don't agree with that. Women need men for protection, period. In order to get a man to risk his life, to slave away 12 hours a day and give up his free time to take care of her, she has to provide some kind of value to make him want to be her protector.
      The women of the past knew this, as they knew how to cook or gave men children. Even when they had the right to work, they still knew having a man take care of them was preferable to working for a boss. Then LBJ allowed women to marry the government in exchange for kicking men out of the home and that all changed.
      Now women don't technically need men because they have the government, but the government isn't going to pick them up from work or hold them at night or protect them from a violent intruder. And instead of admitting this they double down on the "I don't need no man" rhetoric, and then wonder why they're single and lonely.

    That's easy if they even hinted at the slightest sexual energy of any kind, those same people calling it "woke" (whatever the fck that means) would be crying its too sexual for their kids or husbands or whatever else makes them wake up in a cold sweat at night. they (female "superheroes" in the live-action) are dammed if they do, dammed if they don't. while im not trying to make my statement political, this "problem" clearly sits on the one side of politics and why we are where we are and anyone who says otherwise is clearly lying to themselves. Lets take Rogue for instance, if Hollywood makes her as sexual as the comics or even the 92 animated series in finding an actress who could handle those figures, she could be as "woke" as hell as a character but due to her outfit or body, the same people using the word "woke" would lose their minds about her body and the actress would most likely end up having to delete her social media accounts.

      @Dragblacker 4 месяца назад

      That's the problem with the Right. Most of them were never actually "Right", they're just mad that the Woke Left intruded into their personal spheres. That's why they keep using past examples of "real females" as a counter to wokeness that generations ago WERE considered feminist icons. TPTB know that these masses can easily be placated by upping the sex factor while keeping the woke messaging. But there are also true believers who refuse to do that, out of "moral duty".

    The main reason why recent female superheroes have become "sexless" is that their characters are being written as caricatures of what the woke DEI writers think of as men. This means these characters don't effectively present themselves as strictly male or female, thus the awkward sense of "asexualness". It's almost like their overall character personas have been shoved into the uncanny valley of human sexuality such that the majority of the audience can't sympathize or relate to them as believable people.

      First, kids play "doctor," have crushes, genders, and orientations, go through puberty, date, and grow up eventually. Secondly, comics since the '80s appeal to adult audiences, due to the '90s antiheroes blowing away drug dealers, terrorists, evil ninjas, LGBT characters, femme fatales, erotic thriller plots, etc.

    Nerds are fascinating. Most nerds are male. Male nerds are stereotypically awkward, which impacts their dating lives. Female nerds are awkward, too....but can still easily get action if they really want it. So a lot of male nerds are sexually repressed. Which is why they like hot female characters so much (which I FULLY support, btw). But when it comes to movies, which are more digestible to female nerds....male nerds suddenly need to pretend they're offended by the sexual representation of real actresses and characters, because they are desperately trying to suck up to their female peers. That's all it is. All of thus. That's all it comes down to. Male nerds lying to impress female nerds.

    It's the difference between Steve Rogers and Thor having love interests in the early days, and what became of Peggy Carter and Jane Foster once they had to transform into 'strong female characters.' It's the change from Black Widow using her sex appeal as a weapon, to it quietly not being one of her tools anymore. And it's why Nebula has a man's body, and Gamora is an absolute bitch in the highly over-praised GotG 3. Women don't want to be the motivation for male heroes, and they also don't want their own motivations to be about getting a man. They've made this very clear. So bye-bye superhero romance, and good luck getting anyone to remember how to write you well. That's how we get Wonder Woman 84, which DID have sex, but the way they did it....
    And don't get me started on the male gaze. Black Panther established shirtless trial by combat for the rights to the throne. Think we could have gotten that for Shuri? In your dreams! And the excuse they hide behind is "It's not practical!" Which is why costume designs have gotten so boring. So you best believe Jessica Alba in her Fantastic Four suit > Whatever Marvel has planned for the reboot

    Shirtless men doesn't necessarily mean appealing to women. Think about Conan the barbarian. It's probably as much about men imagining themselves as the hero. But yeah, it seems weird if adult motivations are removed from movies, but The Marvels made multiple attempts to imply that female characters were either in relationships or - failing that - mindless hooking up. The costumes thing seems superficial as a measure. If you think about great film romances, often they would be between two fully dressed people. I mean, it's been a while since I saw them, but I liked The Boxer and Last of the Mohicans. In those, the male lead was Day Lewis. The female leads were Madeleine Stowe and Emily Watson. No leather catsuits that I can remember.

The first act of the movie is him working out, going from "dad-bod to god-bod." (Quote FROM THE MOVIE.) And then you had him chained up and naked, while being ogled by everyone. How does it end? With Thor in an apron, playing Daddy to a little girl who disrespects him.

    It's all about an agenda. They purposefully make the Women infallible because showing weakness is considered "Sexist", when in fact not being perfect and having flaws and going through struggle and issues is what makes us human and relatable. This is a HUGE reason why no one likes most of these female Superhero movies. Ironman & Dr. Strange were arrogant buttholes and had to be humbled because of it, even causing Strange to lose his love interest, and Stark also almost lost Pepper over it. Starlord was arrogant & selfish and became more selfless, even giving up his role as leader by the end. Thor had all his powers striped away and had to be humbled to be in position to become worthy again of being Thor, let alone King. Antman was a former Criminal. Most of the Men in the MCU are no where NEAR perfect, have HUGE flaws they have to overcome, and this growth is what makes them relatable and thus likeable. They also give them love interest and therefore "Something worth fighting for". However, with female characters, they can not make it seem like "A Man" is "Somethin worth fighting for". So much of the current "Feminist ideology" is not a out equality, or even "female Empowerment", but more so about demeaning and diminishing any and all aspects of traditional "Feminine qualities" as "Weak", only valuing Women through a lens of "Traditionally Masculine Qualities" in order to be considered "Valuable", while simultaneously trying to "Put down Men" and "Prove" how much "Men are not needed". This is why the vast majority of Men in these films have to be bumbling idiots who couldn't tie their own shoes if they tried. Modern Feministic ideology teaches Women that being "Feminine is Weak" and that their value and happiness in life comes from Degrees, Climbing Corporate Ladders, & Materialism. Yet when you ask people on their death bed, they will tell you that what they valued the most was the Friends, Families, & Loved ones, including Romantic Interest, and the memories of the loving experiences they shared with them. They will tell you that they wish they had more of that, not more Gucci Bags. As humans we are social creatures, always have been and always will be. In fact, isolationism can in fact be detrimental, as humans left alone can even go crazy, this is why too much solitary confinement for even prisoners is considered "Cruel & Unusual Punishment". It's like we can't walk & chew bubble gum. Yes, back in the 30s & 40s Women were seen as their ONLY VALUE was being a Wife & Mother, but that doesn't mean the opposite that being a Wife or Mother has NO VALUE and therefore is sexist and should not be desired or wanted. They do this because single people spend more money on Materialistic items to fill the hole in their heart from being alone, it benefits Capitalism. And movies like Captain Marvel are stuck fighting a battle that Men have not been pushing for over 50 years that Women's ONLY VALUE is sexist ideas like her "being in the Kitchen", hardly no one is saying that. I find more Men that can cook today, an essential HUMAN quality for anyone living as an adult than I do Women because Women tried so hard to NOT teach their daughters how to cook to "Prove a point", and now, when they inevitably have children cause most are having sex, they spend MORE MONEY buying fast food & junk food to feed their kids. The battle they are fighting is ridiculous, It's like, "Yeah, I'm going to spend more money & feed my children poison to fight Patriarchy & to stick it to the Man!" 🙄.

    Certainly not a new argument. I have seen and heard variations of this argument, for lack of a better term, on 'Right/Libertarian' media cites since the internet became universal. It surprises me still that, rarely mentioned in this (and I found this discussion far more articulate than most) is the rise in the last twenty or so years of small independent film studios that cater specifically to the Male Superhero Film audience's interest in female characters that exude sexuality as well as power. I am specifically thinking of Next Global Crisis (out of England); Zen Pictures (in Japan); The Battle for Earth (custom studio in the Pacific Northwest); Alzi Productions (a Russian RUclips channel that also has a subscription-based element) ...the list is now neigh endless. I assume the community for this channel is not altogether unfamiliar with them...and some of their output is quite good! The whole thing is rather brilliantly parodied by Adam Warren's indie b&w book 'Empowered'. So, I guess I would argue that rather than 'disappearing' from mainstream Hollywood, largely because of perceived political and cultural disagreements, this has been relegated to a 'niche' market. Thoughts?

    Yeah, the girl-in-the-fridge trope comes from Green Lantern. It was also one of thr complaints raised by Anita Sarkeesian when discussing the roles played by women in games. The problem with the woke activism take on media is, that what should've happened is the existence of alternate treatment of races and genders in media. What they did do, is the replacement of existing media with gender-neutral, sex-neutral, and race-neutral media. Instead of every audience getting what they want, nobody gets what they want.
