I know this is an old video, but be careful doing the head gasket. It is common for the head bolts to pull the threads in the block when the head gasket goes. The way to go ,is fit “Time-Sert;s.” I have a 2.8 Z3 I had to do this on. The Time-serts always work and will save the engine.

I shouldnt laugh but when the roof and windows shut, your face! haha. Cant wait to see this one.

Man that headgasket is badly gone, hope it's a straightforward job and the head is all good. Another great video guys! These things will definitely be an expensive classic soon

So badly gone. This was a run and drive on the website! Apparently this engine has a habit of ripping the head bolts out of the block too when they overheat.... Hoping it hasn't come to that.

The magical mystery car with a mind of its own! Were you short on a project? The Volvo, your BMW and the Fiesta not yet ready, more work in the workshop. Or is this a project for the future?

This’ll be interesting to watch as I own 1 of these and have done for 5 years now, and done some tasteful subtle mods to mine, and mines black on black

We're going to get this one mechanically sounds before we do anything. Should be a great series 😁 What mods have you done to yours?

@@WhitelandRestorations yeah, I agree with getting that 1 mechanically sound etc, and whatever that roof is doing, weird…., bit of a shame, as I recently did a feature video on my car for my channel, but deleted it about 2 weeks later, my mods list, all original bmw still, but….
Exhaust, original but middle box deleted, and rear box replaced with a smaller 1, done professionally, it gives it a nice deeper sound to go with the engine and some pops n bangs, but not too in ya face
Wheels, refurbished and re sprayed imola red
Angel halos in the front to act as drl’s
And front indicator lenses replaced with nice smoked 1s and special indicator bulbs that u only see when the operate
Rear lights exchanged for the facelift led 1s
The gear stick changed for a nicer m sport carbon 1 and the leather gator changed to m sport red/maroon leather and matching handbrake gator, and the handbrake lever changed to a carbon look 1
And the windows blacked out….., everything has been done professionally, by various companies
I was thinking of eventually going for a supercharger, cos my opinion is, and as uv kinda said it, this to me is the working man’s M3, and on normal road use, apparently a supercharger put on it, I’ve been told I’d outdo the M3 🤷🏻, but I’m now thinking in the future of getting the E92 330 m sport…….

Almost seems like the system that is meant to secure the car when you remove the key is somehow doing the complete opposite? Tbh I was impressed that all.the roof motors and sensors are good and cakibrated to the point that the roof is operational. Great car.

We have a sneaking suspicion that the lock barrel has been damaged and the car thinks the key is in the open position which would power down the roof and windows..... But you're right, at least the mechanism is working! 😁👍

This is why copart are not allowing members to view cars ?. Interesting video.

We think it's exactly why. They are making the most of Covid with not being able to go and have a walk around. We also think they had cleared the codes with the OBD port hanging open........ They really should be held accountable more often with the horror stories we hear all the time.

    во сколько обошлось?

    • @WhitelandRestorations
      @WhitelandRestorations  2 года назад +1

Это стоило 1350 фунтов стерлингов. В то время казалось хорошей ценой .... пока мы не вернули его в мастерскую! Извините за плохой перевод!
