Watching you target the money notes in the finest spots for each phrase is like watching the Home Run King call his shot - pointing at where it will land 500 feet away. It is truly a thing to admire. Thank you for being generous and sharing!
I was blessed to be able to spend a few hours with Guthrie yesterday having him share his extensive wisdom yesterday...if you ever can swing it....definitely book a lesson with him! My head is still swimming with all he showed me. And Guthrie...I was able to pick up my "In Stereo" copy at Glaser's. I know once I get my video, I will have years of things to work out to help me move to realise what I hope is my full potential. Thanks for a great experience I will remember forever!
Before our lesson I would guess I would get a "musical epiphany" once every 3 years or so. Since our lesson(and even before getting video of it)...I have had 3 "musical epiphanies" in 2 days! Breaking free of my old fingering habits will take time...but how I think has already changed..and changing how a 60 year old thinks aint an easy task!@guthrietrappmusic
These lessons are amazing. I've been casually watching every night for the past week and noodling around with each idea the next day during breaks at the studio and I can't believe how my playing is transforming so fast. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us!
Hey Guth Greetings from NC... Thanks so much for taking us UNDER THE HOOD... and explaining WHY this shit works! Much appreciated! bought your record today... Stoked!
Wow Guthrie! Best video and lesson yet! So information dense! I will be chewing on this for a long time. Thank you for sharing your hard earned knowledge so unselfishly! It is obvious that you are sharing the good stuff out of love for music, the guitar, and those of us struggling to unlock the keys to this music thing! You deserve all the benefits you gain from your generosity! I’m hooked! Fan forever! I gotta come see you in action with the trio. Kudos!
I have learned so much from his RUclips videos. Going back to the basics has helped me better visualize the fretboard and train my ear to hear the intervals
I took a page out of your book Guthrie. Was visiting my mom last week in Alabama. She gifted me her 75 Guild D50. Didn't have any of my gear. Just the guitar, an iPad Pro, and an idea for a triads lesson. Shot a 6 minute video unedited, no fancy thumb nail. That darn thing is closing in on 50k. haha. You really can't figure out this YT thing, ya just gotta keep going. Keep going brother and thanks for sharing your knowledge.
A little late to this video, but it’s a gem. Guthrie, your teaching and explanations are really making sense. You have come a long way in a short time as a teacher. Also your camera angles for fingering positions really help. For this lesson I looped the basic chords you threw out and just keep working the solo phrasing over and over focusing on targets and leading. Thanks for taking the time and being generous enough to share your knowledge and talent. All the best to you!
@@guthrietrappmusic learning the shapes and matching the major/main or pentatonic to the shapes was a big breakthrough. And then learning where the major third, flat 7 is all over the neck 🤘
Thank you Guthrie, literally had A7, D7, E7 arpeggio sheets laying on my coffee table this am getting into the Dominants. This one lesson is so awesome will take a few months to get it under my fingers but on the train! Awesome lesson.
Loved your humbleness in the Beato interview. Love those 10ths. I certainly hope you keep playing that soul. Making a creole shrimp sauce with your album rolling. God bless.
Dang ! Where have I been for 2 weeks ??? Thanks GT ! That intro was most gorgeous and glorious !!! Tele strapped on ! Cheers from Thailand !!! Whoa !!! 😎🇺🇸🇹🇭🇺🇸⚓️🎸✅☕️🤠😸😎
As usual educational and like gimmy page on since I've been loving you can see the triad and next position very good Guthrie thanks for making people understand
Thanks as always GT... I am just about to move to the advanced section in Artist works and your teaching is the greatest. I have learned more from your lessons here and on AW, than anyone else in over 30 years of playing. There are many great teachers out there, but your lessons are far and away the most meaningful, and important. You are making us all (WAAAY) better. Have a great week!
Ok that's the best intro ever lol I've made this comment a couple of times now. But, that was a nice blend of several styles and they all came together seamlessly, my man is proficient as hell in a number of things and blends those sounds together so dang well 🤘🤘✌️🖖
This is some high quality content here señor Trapp!!!! Thank you so much! I credit you and Unclectric for my growth on the instrument over the last year!!!! Seriously thank you so much
That was a master class from yours truly, jedi master GT,greetings and well wishes from Queensland Australia, you are making me sound better as a guitarist sir
I wish I could give this video multiple thumbs up! This is my practice routine for the next few weeks, excellent nuggets of information from a true pro. 👍👍👍👍
Great! I'm focusing on a mix of note leading, voice leading and searching for note relationships in changes. Playing out of nice chord changes is a solid direction for targeted leads, most of the info is right there. I'm curious and excited about different rhythms and progressions now. I've started listening to other genres on cool old vinyl for ideas and musical vocabs, thank you for that too. I just bought your Artistworks course. Really enjoying it 👍
Listen to 93-96 phish shows. 1994 specifically - Trey Anastasio has some of the best improvised melodies. “Reba” on Halloween 1994 will do you just fine
Watching this i had a realization...he is playing the guitar like a piano player. Looking at it like this where you use the chords to shape the melodies is huge. Big thanks to GT these lessons really changed the way I play the guitar.
Mr GT, always comprehensible insights. One big take away is to not think of the chords in any given key as standing alone. The notes of the chords of a key are so interconnected, and seeing triads makes that so clear. Thank you for these great concepts.
So this would be applicable to songs where the 7th degree isn't actually played in the progression? Playing lead over the using the implied 7th (maj or min or dom) still giving us these ear worms?
Your guitar tone on the Opening Intro is Absolutely Beautiful! Interestingly, the tritone intervals (Dom7 and Maj3) in each of the 7th chords used in this video are located right next to each other on the ④ & ③ strings. This visualization technique might be helpful for some of your viewers. E7 - 6th fret ④ G# ③ D A7 - 5th fret ④ G ③ C# B7 - 7th fret ④ A ③ D# I’ve mentioned this before in a previous comment, how immensely powerful it would be for you to analyze one or two selected ideas from your Opening Intros. This would add tremendous value to your guitar lesson presentations.

Glad you enjoyed it!
D*** Guthrie, I got so wrapped up in that intro I burned my popcorn. That's got to be my favorite intro of all.
Geez!

Great Lesson Guthrie, I'm going to repeat that one again and again until I get it. Thank you.

Outstanding , "All I need are some tasty licks, a cool guitar, and I'm fine". You inspire us all. Thank you for sharing.

daaaang the intro
Your playing knocks me out every time. Beautiful
Sounds great, so wish I would play guitar like that

Dripping with taste, he is so musical.

Thanks for another great lesson. Holy insight, batman. Lots to work with. All the best.
Thanks for watching!
Guthrie, you never disappoint. It was 2/10/20 I came to you for an amazing lesson. Let’s get you to 100K!
Can't wait! Thanks a million

Really enjoyed this Mr G. Thank you sir 💯

Your phrasing is so perfect 🫶
Yes ! When you play it, I can hear it. When I try to play it, not so much. Hahaha Keep Rockin' it GT !!!
There's no getting around it. You are a Gunslinger. Just like many of us here. Lots of good stuff in this video, (as always). Much respect...
Thank You Brother...❤
Thank you so much for the great lessons. If the trio ever goes on a world tour please visit Amsterdam.

Thanks a bunch! I love Townsend and the Dancing Bear. And of course the park.

I always get a lot out of your videos, thanks. I can’t get an In Stereo cd on your website though. Are you going to make more?
Thanks GT, I can’t yet play how you play but I sure can play a lot more than I did before your free lessons. Where’s that Tip Jar?
damn i might have to fly home to see gt and ul play together
GT, you should fade in some canned applause after your intros! That would be hilarious! 😂
Gun slinger? More like an assassin Guthrie. Good video.
Am, dminor and e7 run that you did on instagram. Plz share a lesson video of that arpeggio 🙏

WTF?
This may have been asked...
Will the NY gig be live streamed or at least recorded and uploaded?
Loving this chord based approach, and really connected with this lesson. Just sent you ten bucks via PayPal. Hope to see you in France some day! JK
