Hey Guthrie, you are truly a breath of fresh air. We are spreading your name up here in the great white north far and wide. If you need some shovels for snow we have lots of extras. We love everything you do. ❤❤❤
Hi GT. I always enjoy your videos. I hope you have a great trip to Hawaii. That will be great marking that off your to do list! I spent Saturday with your parole officer, Chris, and had a good time. I miss seeing you, man! Hope to see you soon. Bill
Excellent, excellent stuff, explained and aptly demonstrated (for free) - what's not to love? I'm going to try to Cooder-ize some of those ideas, and sneak it into my blues somewhere! That snowy vista at the close is nice, too.
Great playing as always Guthrie, thanks for sharing! Man, just going into a different tuning can be so much fun and creative. You almost can't help but come up with something new. When I first started learning slide, I would regularly play in open G. Then, I came up with some pretty cool riffing on the low strings but changed my high E string back to E so I could solo more comfortably. Turned out to be a great tuning for me (DGDGBE) - would definitely recommend it to everyone). Rock on Guthrie, have fun in Hawaii! Hope you have a great trip.
Guthrie you are the man ! Damn dude that was killer, thanks for all the inspiration and your time ! I love the Drop D stuff especially on acoustic. So much here to practice with, love it ! Many thanks and more non guitar vids please . Puzzles are a blast ...mostly in the winter for us northerners ...
You dedicate so much of your time to playing guitar gigs tours teaching that you definitely need another outlet a hobby. Jigsaw puzzles are awesome to do. I use to do the crossword every day from the local paper and Sundays big crossword. Having a hobby that gets your brain operating in a different way that's a gift good for you man!
Absolute joy. That's what your videos bring to me Guthrie. If this doesn't make you grab your guitar and dig into it idk what else would make it. Thanks!
Thanks so much for inspiring and sharing your adventures with us - we never get tired of hearing your lessons and stories! ZZ Top will be making a stop up here in Canada in June and I'm so excited to get to hear them play. Enjoy Hawaii!
love jigsaw puzzles haven't done one for awhile... I had one of an underwater ocean scene that I poured clear resin over to make a table top .....looked really cool. Fun to frame them and hang them on the wall too.
Hi Guthrie, from Spain here. Thank you very much for all your videos and explanations, it helps a lot! I m planning a trip to Nashville , but I d like to have at least the chance to see you playing. I ll be there end of February and beginning of march. Will you be in the area, may be a gig during these 2 weeks?
Luv that Tom Buko chord change ..always luv your playing .Thx mate , cheers Leigh ( ps I would be happy to send you some cooking you tube recommendations if you let me know what you like to cook , Ive been involved in the hospitality business my whole life )
Enjoy Hawaii, GT. Sounds fun and a heck of an experience. Not every kid on the block gets to do that, and not with the Rt. Rev. Mr. Gibbons. Growing up in the 60s, I never thought I'd see the islands with my own eyes. Then got to sail there in a 29' boat (not the safest one, either) at age 20. There's magic and danger all around those islands.
Puzzles are great GT. Thanks for the nod to us puzzle nerds out there. Check out Blue Kazoo. They have some pretty high quality puzzles. I especially like their planet and space series. The round ones are challenging.
Me and my gal puzzle every winter..it's freaky when you get into the flow state. Thanks for all you do. Do you and Josh Smith happen to know each other? If you ever shared a stage that'd be some hot fun!
There's a company called Pomegranate which does a great range of Jigsaws, their repros of great artworks are so rewarding. Ravenburg too. Loved that opening jam.
Greetings from L.A. My guitars burned up with my home this week, been watching your vids again, homesick for Tennessee. You are my jigsaw puzzle today, GT - thank you, I needed the distraction.
I've got a 5000 piece puzzle thats a Van Gogh collage that was like $100 bucks. It's a big boy puzzle been sitting in on a shelf for probably 10 years now. Its huge and would look killer framed. Feeling froggy say the word its its yours GT! But I do love puzzles and used to do them a lot when I didn't sleep sometimes! 🤣
@stevec9972 No seriously that's part of the problem. Need a big piece of plywood on sawhorses or something in the garage. Someday we'll get that fucker together! Lol Funny thing is that many pieces you'd get to the end and be missing a piece for sure! Completely devastating!😂
Thank you sooo much for all of your videos. Trying to learn more about the fretboard and you’re helping immensely. Quick question, do you typically use amp distortion or pedal distortion? I’m sure you rely on pedals often if you’re using backline amps but what would be your preference? Thanks again!
We’re making headway. It’s just a slog though. And yes. There are several pieces that we don’t believe exist. I was as shocked as you were about how gratifying puzzles were. Had totally forgotten. Really wish I would have started on 500 pieces though.😹
Got a nice fire going.. cracklin', and nice and warm.. emptied the puzzle onto the table (1000 pc), an hour later, threw the puzzle into the fire.. still nice and warm.
@@guthrietrappmusicIt’s great that you’re living your dreams, man! We met awhile back, and we’ll meet again! Love that you’ll be hanging out with the Reverend BFG!!! Safe Travels Guthrie!!!
How aware are you of the chord you are playing over? Do you have to ask yourself ever - what chord is this? Ah… a G ok… then see the g chords… i have to do that if its new music and im composing a part up the neck. When you were new to this how much did you need to ask yourself what chord you are over?

Thanks, that’s great to hear!

The licks , phrasing and endless ideas is really amazing! Jaw dropping playing.

Great to hear!

“ A fingernail ripper offer!” I love that terminology GT. I’m stealing that one ! Great video as usual my friend.
Puzzles are cool. My Buddy used to have one going in the lounge of the studio in Oakland all the time. Great for taking breaks
That’s a great idea for a break!

You’re killing it Guthrie Trapp. I wish I could afford to travel and actually SEE you BuK and Jedd. Hopefully one day I will.
Go to Nashville and see him at the underdog. GT plays usually Monday's, Jack on Thursday. Well worth the effort.
@@jega157what about Buk
@@slyyeti4336 not sure where he plays out.
Man, that Tele sounds soooo legit! Could listen to you for hours.
Absolute joy. That's what your videos bring to me Guthrie. If this doesn't make you grab your guitar and dig into it idk what else would make it. Thanks!
That’s awesome, glad you like it!

Thanks, I’ll see what I can do!
I'm completely a seat of the pants cook and love to be creative with it. But I get ya.

Firing on all cylinders my good man.

😢😔😔 Glad you're safe but sad about your home and guitars. Hard to watch those tools feed the flames but the creator - you - is still walking.
So sorry to hear this. Our hearts go out to you. I can’t imagine what that’s like.
dominant drop d always makes me think of a million movies
You love the guitar, so you MUST be a puzzle fanatic!
Hey Guthrie, I got the biggest puzzle of all although I can’t do jigsaw because I’m blind, but I got a bigger puzzle the guitar

5k pieces.
you may need to have a puzzle room set up to assemble that 😅

Jigsaws are brilliant. Get some sudoku books as well mate. You'll be addicted. A great travel companion.
Never been a fan of guitars that color, but you sure make that one sound purdy.
Your tone is always really good, love the guitar and the amp...and you can play good too😉
Thanks a lot!
Thanks Guthrie! Love that swampy drop d so cool!!

Brunswick Stew is My Specialty 😊
Question on drop D...are both you and Tom in Drop D on "The Window"?
Yes indeed.
A wise man told me once, that it's only work when you don't enjoy it.
That’s a really good one!
GUTHRIE!!!!🍀
You fumble around? On the guitar? Yea ok whatever bro lol
❤❤❤❤❤
Have fun in Hawaii.
My wife and I have been working on a 1000 piece for about a week. I got a love hate thing going on with the puzzle.
I thought they were missing pieces from the factory. Ha
We’re making headway. It’s just a slog though. And yes. There are several pieces that we don’t believe exist. I was as shocked as you were about how gratifying puzzles were. Had totally forgotten. Really wish I would have started on 500 pieces though.😹

The thumbnail photo was the story today. Do you still play harmonica?
❤
You got a Paul reed smith or only teles?
One Tele
