I can tell he really suffered with that depression. When he said he went through a suicidal period and the audience laughed and he says "I wish that was the joke", I felt that so hard. He's a beacon of hope. Turning his sadness into comedy. Able to see the humour in shituations. I admire that, dude!
Great moral. As someone who works in mental health and is pretty much required to not judge, it's fascinating how many people you come across that turn out to be much nicer than expected.
+Messofanego I was walking to my apartment at around midnight when a fully tattooed(even one on his face) huge mexican dude came walking up to me, full outfit with white tanktop dickys and bald head. He was also over 6foot, I said to myself "well I'm about to get robbed or worse" I mean really starting to freak out.......the guy got to me and asked me if I had seen his puppy..his.....puppy.......he lost his puppy during the day and had been searching for it for hours, I started to think he was trying to get me to follow him or something to rob me or worse then....the guy almost broke down in tears and I actually started to console him, all my prejudices and judgment went out the window and we both looked for about an hour till we found it under a car, little dirty but not hurt. He thanked me a hundred times with tears starting to form in his eyes, and we parted ways. I felt like a huge asshole after, for judging this guy without so much as a single word spoken between us. I assume it was his kids but either way that guy was super nice.
That was transcendental. Steve took me far, far away from the place I am today, some bullshit, burnt out do gooder in a developing country who hasn't loved anyone in a long, long time. I lived in the world he created, I remembered being young; I remembered a lot of things. Thank you for those 14 minutes and 11 seconds, I haven't been able to escape myself like that in a long, long time. I forgot that natural feeling of just...loving people.
Love is the only truth, every thing else is just illusion. Remember that you were engineered for this experience and every one is a work in progress. Sending you love from 90807.
I listened to him as a guest on Ari Shaffir's podcast while at work, and in the intro Ari said that you ( the listeners) would cry. And I thought " I'm at work I can't cry, I won't cry." And goddammit I cried like three times. It was a really good experience and I am seriously thankful for you guys
This has been one of the worst years of my life. I’ve been incredibly low and just generally been in a really horrible place. This came up in my recommendation because when I’m really doing bad I watch comedy shows to help. This one is honestly so sincere and so incredible. Great set, great message, I love this guy.
If you think you're the only one, let me learn ya something. You're not the only one I promise you that. 😅😂😭😮😇 I cant promise we aren't the only two... But I really, really doubt it. 🔥✌
‘Deep inside we’re just little kids that just want to hang out, love, have some laughs [...] the less you judge, the more you love, and you’ll stop judging yourself and start loving yourself [...]’ - I officially love this human. 😭💙 I wish it was easy for us all to be like this. T^T
I love listening to Steve tell a joke/story. Check out his special Remember This. It's so good. It's nostalgia at its finest. I'm just a buddy. No other affiliations, just true enjoyment.
This one was so amazing!! I’ve watched so many of these ‘This is Not Happenings’ but this one actually left me with a full heart and sincere happiness. Good job!! 🙂
Binge watching these videos in random order is amazing cause you’ll go from “so I used to work at Golden Corral” to “stop judging each other and start loving each other so you can love yourself” and then right back to “here’s the time I had shrooms and thought I was changing race”
The best part about this story is the only people that he thought we’re going to be mean to him were the only people that were nice to him. This is a book by its cover lesson and I hope everyone takes from it. Love those who love back.
When you become a source of happiness for other people, they are drawn to you. You are a gentle soul in a vicious job. God bless. And dude, I like your shoes.
The art of storytelling is exemplified so well and in such an authentic and charismatic way. I respect that you can do what you do in front of all of us, and tell some personal stories we can all connect with or relate to on some level. Thank you for making me feel better about my Peter Pan self that I have always admired within me even when society is so quick to push all of us to grow up and mature, usually in not the healthiest of ways. I was born in Croatia and can relate about the observation of adults as a child and how their behaviors and words were confusing and incongruent at times. Thank you for speaking from the heart and warming my heart
Not only was that story great, but your ending message was by far the greatest of this series. No disgusting acts or justifying terrible behavior. Just a funny story with an awesome message at the end. I'm now a fan.
He's beyond a comedian. I watch these for the crazy shit and fucked up humor, but this was such a feel-good set. I love that this was the message he put out. Loved this!💕

Chrono105 Aww, cute story :D
LazyStatic everyone needs love. Everyone. And sometimes a puppy is the only one who will love you. ... that's why i work at an animal shelter.
Steven Seagull just saying you work at an animal shelter because of the puppy love, makes me automatically love you!

I'm just gonna assume that the four down votes all involved individuals who did not wait until the end of the video.
Or the four guys it was about. XD
Jaday nah I’m pretty sure they liked it too
They were the audiences members that were looking at his back for 15 minutes
This definitely should be shown to a lot of people, this changed me 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Two very different styles of comedian, but you’re right. Joey’s always got some kind of a positive, life affirming message behind his jokes.
This is intensely relatable and also still funny. This guy needs a Netflix special too.
