    Literally everyone there surrounding Bojack has someone. All couples. But Bojack, who promised to come back to that spot with Herb, is all alone.

      It is because it came from someone who was real. They were a person just like all of us. You can quite literally see this in their instagram where they draw out their daily life. Like how they own horses. They are just a average person who made a show with an actual story.

    I love how ambiguous this ending is in terms of the mood. Sure the upbeat music and bright sunny day make it seem optimistic but we know Bojack is unfulfilled and lonely here. His award doesn’t mean much to him and not only is he alone at the specific place he promised to celebrate with his friend one day, he is the only one alone. Despite that though, maybe there’s hope the “night sky is changing over” right before the credits hit.

    • @nitewing1898
      @nitewing1898 Год назад +3

      It's not ambiguous at all. The song is not upbeat either. The song is about distance in a relationship with someone you care about or love. The 'bright sunny day' further enhances the point of this shot; Bojack is alone. He is incapable of sustaining relationships with those close to him without hurting them, and the song choice, coupled with the fact that this is the spot where Herb and him promised to return to after their fame, ultimately adds to his feeling of loneliness in this season 1 finale. Not ambiguous in the slightest. Don't know where you got that.

    • @Peter_Pans_Labyrinth
      @Peter_Pans_Labyrinth 11 месяцев назад +5

      @nitewing1898 The song is not about that at all. "Although I do imagine that this would be an okay song to make out to, all I intended was to write something sweet that reminded the listener of a time before complicated relationships, drama and heartbreak. I was writing about my youth, a time when we got closer by linking arms and walking down our school hallway, or talked all night on the telephone about every thought or experience we'd ever had. It wasn't necessarily even about hooking up or admitting your feelings back then. In fact, that rarely happened. It was the anticipation of something maybe happening that was truly exciting and satisfying. We were perpetually getting closer, yet we rarely got physical with one another, if ever. These relationships existed in a state of sexual and physical ambiguity." The song, ultimately, is about the time before relationships were so overly complicated. For Bojack it's the same, his relationship with Herb was arguably the last uncomplicated friendship he had, until he threw it away.

      It is not optimistic!!! Rewatch the secretariat's audition... And the fact that in the same chapter they show the suicide at the bridge... That's too much, man! Bojack's essence...

    I think the song is so upbeat because it *should* be a happy ending for Bojack, but to me that makes it sadder because we as viewers know it’s unfulfilling for him

    I know everyone thinks this scene is weirdly optimistic compared to the rest of the series but think of it. Bojack just stares off in to the distance when he finally gets what he has been dreaming of. This fits into one of the main themes of this show. "What is success?"
    I mean it could be considered optimistic but maybe the ending scene was like that because if the series was cancelled out of nowhere or something it could be considered an ending.

    • @ken6517
      @ken6517  7 лет назад +74

      Definitely. This ending wrapped up the show with a nice little bow but did leave opportunity for a continuation. Also, this ending with the cheery music and gratuitous shot of the planetarium is one of the only happy moments in the show.

      @@yungt7351 Yo I know this is an old comment but if you like taking lsd and like watching bojack you GOTTA watch it while tripping. I've watched the last 4 episodes of season 3 and the last 3 of season 6 while tripping and IT IS INSANE. The voice acting feels so real and the emotions are crazy. You pick up on so much more stuff and you really understand how the characters feel in those scenes. Also I feel like there is some hidden message you pick up on only while tripping. Me and another friend made these crazy ass observations and theories while watching it while tripping alone, and we told each other our things and it was the exact same. The writers somehow put this secret underlying message in the show you can only notice while tripping. If you watch the last three of episodes of season 6 you have a REALLY high chance of having an ego death btw. If you want an ego death, these last episodes will make you feel crazy, in a good way. It made me trip the hardest I ever have in my entire life and now I like watching an episode of Bojack for most of my trips. The superb voice acting, the animation, the attention to detail, and all the subliminal messages really make the show PERFECT for tripping.
