It’s crazy that Aaron Paul went from a totally unknown actor that appeared on the price is right to become a character meant to die in the first season of a show that no one had any confidence in, and ended up impressing the creators enough to fully flesh out his character until the very end, making him the actual heart of the show that ended up being one of the most beloved shows of all time. Then he does voice acting on possibly the most heart wrenching and poignant animated show as a joke character who ends up being the heart of the show. The fact that he and Brian Cranston aren’t in more projects is crazy to me. Give this man the right material and he can be both funny and heart breakingly genuine.
An Emmy award winner was born out of that decision not to kill him off. What an absolute legend this man is, it baffles me how he’s not on more movies and TV shows. (Especially him and Cranston together 😂)

@@justmeagain9302 So happy that he got his big break. He was practically nobody when auditioning for Pinkman (which was supposed to die early). He could have lost the part to someone else and then we would have got no Aaron Paul.
I watched Bojack before Breaking Bad. It was really odd hearing sweet Todd’s voice coming out of another naïve kid with wasted potential whose good heart kept getting crushed by the machinations of his older, more flawed mentor.
It wasnt even just a look at one person's depression, its the beatiful analysis of all the ugly parts of a human psyche, one we dont want to even admit we have, one can never be the same person after watching this gem
True, it takes a deep look at everyone around Bojack and their struggles as well. There might be a focus on Bojack, but we most definitely see Diane's struggles, Princess Carolyn's struggles, Todd's struggles, Sarah Lynn's struggles and even Mr. Peanutbutter's by the end.
It's also a deep look into what happens when we don't have governance over our emotions. The loneliness of Bojack and his ability to buy himself out of his personal responsibility makes you feel both angry at him and hug the character. He had so much agency and ways to get out, but the road for him was hard and uphill... A soul drowned in Addiction
Everyone focuses on Bojack but if you look at Princess Caroline it also shows sometimes you need to stop doing what everyone else wants you to do and finally do things for yourself and enjoy life because nobody else will do that for you.
@@dspmt9854It also reminded me of his previous rant after [BREAKING BAD SPOILER ALERT] he got his face broken by Hank. "I'VE NEVER BEEN SO ALONE SINCE I'VE GOT WITH THE GREAT HEISENBERG!" "YOU DON'T GIVE A SHIT! WHY WOULD YOU CARE FOR ANYTHING AS LONG AS YOU ARE FINE?"
The fact that this man was a lead on one of the most critically acclaimed live-action shows of all time, and one of the main characters on the most critically acclaimed animated series on time, and the fact that he kicked ass in both rolls? It shows how phenomenal of an actor he is.
Both of the times he plays an initially silly and comedic character (which really makes you laugh in his moments) which then flawlessly manages to pack some of the heaviest emotional punches in the entire show. And he makes it look easy, too.

Man, I remember when this show was brand new I was DETERMINED to hate it. My preconceptions about adult animated comedies, especially ones you just suddenly see pop up on a streaming service, were that it would be low effort bottom of the barrel raunchy comedy. I’m so glad I decided to give it a chance, I’m so glad a lot of us did, and we got 6 seasons. It’s genuinely one of my favorites, and definitely my most rewatched.
“A comedy that also rips the heart out of people” is probably the most cliche, most eye-rolling pitch for a show you can hear, except in the case of Bojack Horseman it was 100% true. The ULTIMATE adult comedy that’s secretly deep.
I can't believe they canceled Bojack I mean at least they told them so they could write a satisfying (albeit depressing) ending, but still Netflix sometimes seems like a bunch of idiots who randomly walked into the wrong room and got hired to make really crazily important decisions.
The ending is heartbreaking in a way, but I appreciate that it's not the 'everybody's happy and all problems have been solved' kind of ending. The show consistently keeps things real despite being an animated feature with some obvious exaggerated parts. I think there's even a small glimmer of hope in the ending.
I literally can't watch this show... it makes me feel empty and helpless... it just tells me I need therapy if I'm not strong enough to watch an animated show about something I struggle with but so much of bojack I relate to 1:1
You can't keep doing this! You can't keep doing shitty things and then feel bad about yourself like that makes it okay! You need to be better! BoJack, just stop. You are all the things that are wrong with you. It's not the alcohol, or the drugs, or any of the shitty things that happened to you in your career, or when you were a kid. It's you. Okay? It's you. Fuck, man, what else is there to say?
If they ever made like a Bojack continuation or movie that shit would be Netflix’s magnum opus, nothing would ever really go above that (not that there even needs to be a continuation, I’m just a greedy little hog who craves more)

I’ve always just not liked Mr. Peanutbutter but what shifted my dislike to complete hate was when he took credit for stealing the D from the Hollywood sign. I just have a thing for people taking credit for things they had nothing to do with and it was the first time I think I realized that he wasn’t as good a dog as he wanted everyone to believe.
