I find it funny that Pacino doesn't usually do accent's often. I think off the top of my head, this is the only movie I saw him in that he did extensive accent work in and he did a great job with it. I just wonder why he never decided to do it again.

Because of it, when he was offered to voice Tony Montana again for Scarface: The World Is Yours, he had to refuse due to him being unable to recreate it. Fortunately, he was able to point Sierra to someone he knew who could do a dead on impression. His name is still in the credits of the game, though, because they used audio from the original movie at the beginning.
His accent here is more iconic than it is accurate. The accent is classic for sure, you hear anyone speaking like that and you know they're imitating Tony Montana, however that accent sounds nothing like a Cuban accent, and that's coming from a Cuban.
