I went to Skidmore College, and worked with Alma Becker, especially in my senior year when she cast me in her production. She meant the world to me, and made a world of difference while I was going through a difficult time. She absolutely mentioned Jon Bernthal, and how wonderful he was, and I’m privileged to have worked with her. She passed away several months after I worked with her, but she will always be an important and meaningful part of my life. It warmed my heart to hear Jon mention that wonderful woman.
Jon's shoutout and acknowledgement of Teachers and Educators is so nice as an Educator myself ☺️ his story about Alma making such an impact on his passion and learning is what educators should strive for! It reminded me of when I had the chance to work and educate young children from my Filipino culture. I had the opportunity to speak Tagalog regularly in Preschool with them and even though they were 3/4 years old it was still awesome getting them to experience and highlight an important part of their cultural identity they even learned a little bit of Tagalog to speak a little back to me ☺️
That's incredible man. And it's cool that you like let people know. Not like to name drop but to like build him up, or back him up. I saw your comment on another vid too, but I love Jon man, he's so genuine.
Jon Bernthal brought up an important point about the role of educators in one's journey of life. It's a blessing to have a guiding hand that leads you to the direction of self-fulfillment.
So true ... my JrHigh Drafting teacher and, later, my HS Biology teacher, both played a heavy hand in my life. Even into my adult life, whenever I'm back in my home town, I'd meet up with my JrHigh teacher for lunch, and I frequently reach out to my HS Bio teacher (poor guy retired in HI and has to surf all day).
Beautiful. Lost doesn't mean untalented or with no potential. Lost just means that you need a nudge in the right direction. There are truly some wonderful people in the schooling system that understand this and go unrecognized, but they exist, and I'm thankful that Jon found one.
My school, college and university teachers helped me alot in several ways by guiding the right path or encouraging to do what I was planning or even helping me to shape my goals. Teachers are Gem and we should respect them. The relation between student and teacher is sacred. From both sides there should be mutual respect and try our best to support each other.
Jon bernthal is becoming one of my favorite actors esp as a person off screen. He's so self aware, and introspective and retrospective... He genuinely seems like an amazing person to be around. Not saying he doesn't have skeletons in his closet cause he definitely could, I really don't know as we never know about most people, but on surface level, and the more I watch and listen to him, he impresses me in a way I've not experienced with other actors
He tattooed his teachers name on his arm! So f-ing awesome I was crying! So many teachers deserve that, we should all be covered in teacher tattoos! Edit: I'm 57 and want to say thank you to Mrs. Bires my Second grade teacher, She should be on my arm!
Jon Bernthal is such a great role model. Shout out to Mr Campbell, my 5th grade teacher at Glen Oaks Elementary for getting me hooked on mythology/folk tales and for being a great human being.
Thoughtful and sensitive men who end up with the wrong crowds naturally pick up acting chops. Showing the slightest bit of his "real" self becomes a literal matter of life and death. Tough guys are the best method actors, so much so they fool themselves.
tbf there are a lot of teachers who are the exact opposite of inspirational. i personally know two who don't gaf about teaching, it's a job and (ironically) a really well paying job (it's a nice area). it's very hard for me to hang out with them anymore.
For real. My second grade teacher, Ms. Watson, was perhaps the second most sweetest person I ever met. She helped me through hard times throughout elementary school. How much I really miss her! God bless you, Ms. Watson xD
I loved the Punisher series and his cameos in DareDevil which was also great. A bit different, but equally great. Would be interesting to see the Punisher and DareDevil also appear on Iron Fist sometime since a few other characters appear or are mentioned there
IKR?? I got thrown a birthday party when I was twelve...and then twelve years later(well, fifteen years)...I met a man called Nick Cave(well, Mick Cave, but I misheard him)...which is the same name as Nick Cave...who was in...The Birthday Party!!! Chills
He was incredible in that new HBO show about the real life story of corrupt cops in Baltimore, made by the same guy who made the Wire. “We own this city” is the title I think, or we run this city
It is podcasts like these that we get to see the real Conan that we all love. For those of us fortunate enough to have met these angels in our lives, Jon was bang on.
Jon Bernthal is immediately likable and has that characteristic that Kurt Cobain apparently had: of actually _listening_ to what you're saying rather than just waiting for an opportunity to speak. At one point he starts interviewing Conan, it just naturally happens because he's actually interested in other people's opinions. I like that.
I was an army brat from Canada and moved every two years while growing up. One early teacher made me pick either right or left handed. Why, teach goal of the month? I am dyslexia...not extreme but hard to present finished material or in math I would understand how to do the work but switch numbers around. Not one teacher out of maybe 130 teachers I have had...not one clued in. It's obvious looking back. I know a guy who was put in the remedial (special) class in high school...he was dyslexia. I would say atleast 50 percent of the teachers I had was phoning it in. Don't get me wrong I had some amazing teachers...for a year. Every Provence was different education standards and semesters. When I 9 years old I got the strap for defending myself, from an attack, from another student. My father explained to that principal why that was not going to happen again. The principal's feet was not touching the floor. I could go on and on..but why. If you find a good teacher...good for you. Every school is not the same. Best school I ever went to was in Trenton Ontario. I have always wished that we had stayed there. My next school destroyed any desire to farther my education.
I wonder if it gets to a point in one's life that after all the pinball flipper mentors that the next natural step is to become one for someone else, to find the next one by being the next one.
I think on Rogan, he explained briefly that his teacher saw that he kinda needed to get out of here (as in the states) so he wouldn’t be distracted or something along the lines of that I just wonder what his parents thought tbh cause that’s a big move
@@NostalgicTheFirst partly that, but i actually saw some other clip since this where he says his acting teacher believes this school in Russia is the best in the world. and he went on to describe how prestigious and revered it is and how good and lucky you have to be to get in.
