      For me it really depends on how you mean it. Jon seems like he's trying to be the realest person he can and he's been extremely successful in what he has chosen. If you only judge who a person is by what they do therefore surgeon/doctor equals incredible human being then I don't agree with that mindset. Achievements are great and it's fine to acknowledge the achievement but putting the human being on a pedastal when there is so much more to who a person is as a whole through-out their life, that makes little sense to me.

    • @salesp6351

      Yeah this “Doctor “ is so full of crap. He doesn’t even believe the bs he says. A man that stands up here and lies to your face about big pharma and for profit corporations, and he then says it’s not just us it’s everybody on different sides of the ball that are for profit. I guess according to the doctor, two wrongs make a right.

    Real Ones podcast helps me to be a better person, giving real life lessons I haven’t experienced myself at 25 years old.

      Love to hear that! Thank you for putting what you’re hearing & learning into practice.
      Sometimes that “how so?” is the engagement and acknowledgement people need in their lives that SOMEONE is actually listening and *interested* in them.
      Too many people don’t have or feel that.

    Hello. I was asked when I was in practice to come into ucla school of med to guide interns/residents to improve their patient skills. Today I loved listening to Dr Nick discussing his style of working with difficult life issues in practice. You can’t do it like he does without a tremendous amount of deep empathy, compassion and kindness. You can hear it in his voice. Patients are lucky if he’s their provider. Skills and heart.

    The affection between two brothers is genuine and endearing. I agree that those of us who work in hospital systems should endeavor to allow young adults access through shadowing and other programs for exposure to health care careers. There are many jobs available in a hospital setting and often, folks can obtain higher educationa dn training as part of employee compensation. Bravo!

    Few things in life are more beautiful than listening to a family member express deep pride and respect from the heart. You can tell when someone touts your accomplishments so they can impress someone else and somehow gleen some shine indirectly or just get a dopamine rush from the other person’s reaction. It usually well meaning but can unintentionally leave the subject feeling weirdly dehumanized. People with letters after their names know that the letters don’t make you a good human and being a good human is the most impressive thing. Once the humanity is elevated above the accomplishment THEN it becomes extra cool to speak the facts as a means of celebrating whatever effort, integrity and commitment went into making a funnel or force multiplier for good in the world. Focusing on the person and real humility THEN the title is the pathway towards rebuilding post-pandemic trust in the scientific community.

    • @HoodLilKrillin
      @HoodLilKrillin 3 месяца назад +1

      It’s also important to remember that accomplishments are meant to be achieved, not remembered or admired. I mean it’s good to receive commendations, but it’s better to do so without the intent for recognition.

    • @docabj8097
      @docabj8097 3 месяца назад

      @@HoodLilKrillin Of course, as you hear in this pod and what you usually see in life- the people who do it for the accolades are rarely the ones who do the quality of work that deserves the accolades! That said, there are a surprising number of people who are unaware of just how much their unaddressed traumas create blind spots in motivation and drive. There is nothing wrong with wanting a win and basking in the recognition that comes with the win but there are a lot of people who have a lot wrapped up in proving somebody wrong or getting positive recognition because they are running from an empty feeling or wound. That is the heart of true adult narcissism and clout hounding and a lot of people suffer from it. You know it when you see because they will usually tell you about it or make you feel bad for not noticing! Nick Bernthal definitely doesn’t fit that….but I bet both of these guys know a few!

    The world has gone crazy and with this podcast alone you are doing the lords work helping people stay grounded and true to themselves, and showing lost soulds that being a badass doesn't mean you shouldn't care - quite the opposite. Being "normal" in todays society is so far from our nature. Paraphrasing Jordan Peterson; Truly being a good man is when you are capable of great violence but choose not to give in to it and show kindness instead. Keep it up brother! Much respect and love from the cold viking north.

    • @Ladybird.21
      @Ladybird.21 2 месяца назад +2

      Quoting Jordan Peterson commenting on what makes a “good man” is WILD.😳😵‍💫
      He chooses violence instead of kindness literally all the time when it comes to trans folk.🤦🏻‍♀️

    • @megavore97
      @megavore97 2 месяца назад +3

      Yeah I agree with the overall sentiment of your comment, but Jordan Peterson is not someone who espouses kindness (and he’s a grifter).

    • @Arebe100
      @Arebe100 2 месяца назад

      @@megavore97 You're right. I probably should've chosen to use a different word like goodness or gentleness when paraphrasing, but the message would still be the same. In times like these I hope you agree that conveying good principles are more important then arguing semantics when it sounds like we are on the same side of this craziness. I never claimed Peterson to be a jolly and pleasant man. He has some sharp edges for sure but that doesn't remove the weight of his words. Bless

    I am an older woman and I also worked as a consultant to a legislative Committee on health and genetics. I approach doctors differently. I have to decide I like you as a doctor on first look. I have to trust you on first get go! I stopped using male doctors after my childhood and left home for college. As A woman, my reg doctor was usually telling me about woman Mefical stuff and I wanted someone who knew how I might feeling on um period or if I was having a baby. Thus I chose women physicians even years later when diagnosed with breast cancer, my whole team were women. I have nothing against male physicians, almost married one. Too often people are so intimidated by the title doctor that they do not asked questions,it is not the fault of the doctors, but I would hoe they all engage patients enough that they lose their fears.There are no stupid questions when talking to your doctor. He or she is suppose to be smarter than you about your health. If I don’t like a doctor, I change.My breast cancer surgeon was a woman and quite brilliant.For my lumpectomy, she came and asked me what type of music did I want her to play during my surgery. I told an album called Silk Road by Yoyo Ma, the cellist, was I surprised she had the album.That was in 2013. It’s 2024 now!

    Jon became a mothereffen monster when he was younger, then he learned how to control. That is what you are supposed to ne like. If you have always been a nice guy then you are useless, sheep, follower. But if you where a monster and choose everyday to be a good man thats power thats a leader, thats someone to can learn from. Confuses said its better to be a warrior in a garden than a gardener in a war. You will get eaten up in life, people will walk all over you, take advantage of you, talk behind your back you will become a push over. Jon is a great man. We all can learn from him.
