Looking at these guys compared them to today’s bodybuilders is like comparing 70-80’s cars to today’s cars.
Back then they all had characters and could tell them apart.
All of these guys look amazing, granite hard muscles everywhere.

It’s unbelievable how huge Big Louie got in the 90’s! Go back and compare how he looked in the mid 70’s to how he big he got in the 90’s. What a transformation! Regarding Lou, I agree partially. In the famous comparison with Arnold that is universally known thanks to Pumping Iron, my personal impression has always been that I liked the natural, genetic shape of Lou's physique more than Arnold's. In Arnold's case, it looked like the muscles were an external over-structure hanging on him. Lou, on the other hand, like his father said, looked like a Michelangelo's statue. Nevertheless, in that Mister Olimpia, I believe Arnold preparation was more complete (even though with a couple of defects that I will probably mention in a further post). Furthermore, Arnold had an advantage: the contraction of the biceps. Unfortunately Lou's biceps, beautiful as his whole body, I think never reached that point where their shape changed to a balloon-like form, in contracted position. When Lou came back in the 90's, he was indeed huge and his body was stellar, but in some ways I think it had lost the original Greek sculpture elegance.

Old school still works for me. Don't get me wrong . I love seeing Phil Heath and Brandon Curry too. They are great looking. They are griving the judge's what they want. I hope they go back to old school size. Then we may see a better detailing from our new school bodybuilders like never before. Like Robbie said about Ronnie Coleman. He looked better when he was smaller. He might have had less health problems being smaller. Bigger is not always better. Great video Thanks for sharing your video.
Actually the judges do their judging in an attempt to give the fans what they want. The more of you that make known you prefer the classic old school golden era look the more present day Champions you will see with that look. I'm trying my best I really am but the gains come at a glacial pace. It's very discouraging. Some times it seems the harder I train the worse the results get. Makes me wanna return to playing tennis and chess.

Until you saw him next to Lyle Alzado, they did a cereal commercial in the late 70,s and Lou was definitely smaller compared to Lyle.

Starting curls with the heaviest weight first and then working down seems like a way to tear something.
Dont watch Kathleans videos.I do agree on warming up first set
Can it be done the other way round? Start light and progress up to as heavy as you can handle
You warm up and then go to heaviest weight and start stripping weights off and keep going.
Obviously starting with heaviest weight without a warmup is asking for trouble.
Once the muslce is warmed up it's ready for the heaviest weight 1st.

I'm 53 years old and I have 19 inch arms. 6foot 2. 210lbs. Same size for the last 30 years.
To me these were the best physiques in history. The bodybuilders nowadays look too big. The guys of this era, we're actually functional. The guys nowadays can't even turn around. Lee Haney had the best physique of them all.

ive been training over 45 years and i still think im in ok shape ,sadly the old school gyms are dying out,only to be replaced by "fitness studios",young people train by looking at their phones to see what to do next and then do some strange movement that does fuck all !!!!! old time lifters huge ever wonder why ???????
