Our lives should be lead by the holyspirit. I just don’t see the holy spirit leading me to a tattoo parlour, but if i yield to the flesh I can surely end up their while claiming my faith as an excuse. Your body belongs to God let him determine what goes on it. If you had it before giving your life to the Lord then fine, but if you desire it now where did that desire come from? Is it from above or from below???
The influence does not come from Godly roots and unfortunately we are emulating ungodly people in their pattern of living.
I pray that we can discern whether tattoos please God or our selves. Shalom my sister. I pray for you that you will excel in the knowledge of the one who called you for he is holy (set apart).

I disagree with this. I know MANY believers when it comes to tattoos and this passage (Lev 19:28) who say context is key and I agree context IS key! But with this passage we CLEARLY see tattoos stem from demonic roots. The word of the Lord does NOT change. We are called to be Holy and treat our bodies like His temple. At the end of the day tattoos is glorifying YOURSELF! You can have an “innocent” tattoo on yourself but you’re doing what your flesh wants. And as believers we know our bodies are not OURS it belongs to God! Ask yourself this if Christ was with you would He sit with you while you’re getting tatted? Lol I’m sure He’d have something to say.

    • @PeterBornAgain

I am with you 100% I also disagree (strongly) I myself have many tattoos covered right to the finger tips on one arm and a full sleeve on the other, their on my neck, back, legs, everywhere except my face.
I got them all before I repented and I know I will be forgiven but I would never ever get another tattoo in fact I warn others not to get any and I also believe Leviticus 19:28 to be a direct command from God as the scripture follows through with "I am the Lord."
Our bodies are holy temples and we should not be vandalizing them and soiling them with ink.
As one lady once told me a long time ago "All tattoos are ugly because "evil" itself is ugly" she proceeding to say something like "if only these poor people would soil themselves with the blood and love of Christ" and she went on I don't remember the rest as I hadn't yet repented but it was really enlightening what she said and hit close to home because I knew what she was saying was the truth.
Also that is a great way to put it that Jesus would not be OK with people getting tattoos, if he was here I would be on my hands and knees begging him to pls remove them for me lol.
      Grace & blessings. ✝

Revelation says Christ has King of Kings Lord of Lords written on his thigh. And also that he has another name that no one knows but himself. Ntm it says he already has said name written on his garment so why would he have it written on him when it's already on his white garment? Probably because the garment is not apart of his body and he won't be wearing the same thing all the time. He probably owns many garments each with its own unique creativity, yet the names written on him represent his authority which is everlasting.

Mess with your blood? I haven't heard that before. As someone who does have tattoos, I personally think it depends greatly on your reasoning forgetting the tattoo. I know a lot of people who get them for stupid reasons and their tattoos often look garbagey and unprofessional. Or they get tattoos? Worshiping Nordic gods obviously paganism which is disgusting in Christianity. But I've known plenty of people who are Christian and have Christian tattoos. I do think it greatly depends. Thank you for considering the context of the verse and for calling fellow Christians to consider the heart/motivation behind the desire to get a tattoo! There is no black and white answer. There are biblical convictions/standards, aka preferences built from scriptures and personal life experiences, but those are personal and don’t apply to all.
I haven’t ever gotten a tattoo because I was taught as a child “my body is a temple” and that to tattoo it is to essentially graffiti it…lol I don’t think it’s bad to abstain from tattoos, but I do think it’s bad to take verses out of context and twist them to fit your narrative.

When you say it's a verse that doesn't win anybody over my friend. Throwing the book in someone's face doesn't win, especially if they're not a Christian or if they're a baby Christian who isn't into the full context of Christianity yet, especially with the prevalence of protestantism nowadays where there isn't as much structure in the church. Even as a Protestant, we're not very orderly and that's part of why a lot of people like us, but it also allows a lot of deceit. And if you want to come at this, you have to be nice and loving like Jesus would be. Just because something is connected to idolatry does not make it idolatry in it by itself. For example I can bow down and worship false Gods, that is idolatry but that doesn't mean that because it's connected to whatever then that's a sin it's the complete opposite when we do it for the Lord. It's called perversion. I'm pretty sure that cutting yourself up for these reasons is not very good.. But a lot of people choose to tattoo things about the Lord. Now am I promoting tattoos? No. Because the Bible isn't clear on it especially when we read in context. So all I'm doing is showing why your argument can't stand. That doesn't mean that I'm saying tattoos are good.

Just as i would believe a false rumour about someone or simply believing or following an idol is the way they will always be when they perform on stage. The verse is from when pagan practices mourning. Egyptians were branded by their gods marking them as belongings to the pharoah. During these times there were idolatry of other gods. Tattoos were rites and ceremonies with which people expressed their sorrow at their funeral. The heathen did so to pacify the infernal deities they dreamt about, and to render them favorable to their deceased friend. God commanded that this must not be imitated by His people. His people, whom the God of Israel had set apart for Himself must not receive the image and superscription of these worthless deities, and therefore must not make cuts or prints in their flesh. Such practices were signs of rebellion against God Himself.

Tattoos are unequivocally wrong and contrary to God's design for the human body. The Bible clearly states in Leviticus 19:28 (KJV): "Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD." This command is not a matter of belief, but a divine decree from the Creator. The human body is a sacred temple, not to be defiled or marked. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (KJV) declares: "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's." Tattoos desecrate this temple and show disrespect to its Maker. Those who have tattoos must repent and seek forgiveness from Jesus Christ. Repentance involves acknowledging the error, turning away from it, and seeking restoration. 1 John 1:9 (KJV) assures: "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."Jesus Christ is not a religion or belief system, but the living Son of God who came to earth, died for our sins, and rose again. His existence is a historical fact, documented not only in the Bible but also in non-biblical sources. The transformation of lives throughout history and the fulfilled prophecies in Scripture testify to His reality.People must surrender their lives to Jesus Christ because He is the only way to salvation. John 14:6 (KJV) records Jesus' words: "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." This is not a matter of choice or preference, but an absolute truth. Surrendering to Christ means acknowledging Him as Lord, repenting of sins, and living according to His teachings. The urgency of this decision cannot be overstated. 2 Corinthians 6:2 (KJV) warns: "Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation." Tomorrow is not guaranteed, and the consequences of rejecting Christ are eternal. Those who accept Him gain eternal life, while those who reject Him face eternal separation from God.

You don't know what you're saying. The biggest problem with Muslims is that they're not studied in Christian theology or church history. Did you kiss the black stone to hopefully have your sins forgiven yet?

You first. It is a ceremonial law for that specific time and people. It being abolished is crystal clear in the New Testament. By your self interpreted theology, men must not trim their beards, and we must not eat a medium rare steak. Even though Jesus Himself says it is not what a man puts in his mouth that defiles him but what comes out of his mouth (speech).

bible interpretation is an art, no two are alike, perfect example this young lady, and pretty much anyone that draws "wisdom" from ambiguity

Something nice and tasteful, a cross with Gods image on one side, jesus's on the other and the holy spirit around all three
It's an honor to have His likeness on my flesh, i know worshipping images is a sin so i won't worship my ink, however i will smile with joy whenever i see it
It will remind me of Him daily, nobody is worthy to be on my skin, nobody but Him
I will repent, a tattoo isn't an unforgivable sin, taking my own life is
I am a fool in His eyes and Only He can forgive me

So you’re basically saying that, “well if this sin is legit then all the other sins that you do that you don’t think are sins…you have to consider those as sins too.” This is one of the most evil interpretation of scripture I’ve ever heard. You should NOT be advising anybody about biblical matters. At all!

I would definitely say do not let your own conviction lead u to ur decisions because if you want it enough you will convince ur self it’s ok. God makes it clear and simple he says don’t do it and then he never says to do it for him so if God don’t even want you to do it for him self why would u do it for anyone or anything

This is wrong. God told Israel that he had tattooed them on the palm of his hand in Isaiah 49:16.
Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.
Also, see Ellicott's Bible commentary concerning this verse for clarification.

Is it ok to put my parents names on

    • @tom24865

I know it's been 5 months but I have four tattoos. One tattoo is of my dog Lucky that I grew up with. I cried for 2 weeks when he passed away. He had saved me from suicide and I thought God sent him to protect me and above his picture is a verse from a song that helped me cope alot when I was depressed. I thought God had set to me. Then I have my dog buddy who I also grow up with who helped support me through that time. Then I got a matching cross that I have with my sister and it is some 23:1 which is our grandmother's favorite all-time verse. And I had roses added on to it to make it look much nicer and put together. All of these were motivated at the time in my mind for God and I thought it would be a good thing. I'm starting to see how that wasn't a good decision and how I influenced my mom and my sister to get tattoos and a few other folks and how I'm starting to regret that. Even though my motivations were for Christ, they may have still been sinful. But in my mind at the time I didn't understand that. So since you haven't gone through it and haven't really gotten the want for tattoos that comes when you get them cuz you just want more. It's very addictive thing. I would advise for you to not get those tattoos. There's a lot of things you can do for your parents. You can get a nice beautiful necklace, beautiful rings that have your parents names. You can get picture frames and things like that to commemorate your parents and how much support that they give you and so much love. A tattoo just isn't necessary. I hope this helps from someone who is in the same boat as you. Or that you would be joining the crew on the boat?. If you have any questions, I usually see my comments. I'm one of those people who rereads them.
