" Been together since 1961..." Are you joking? They have split-up & sued each other more times than I could ever imagine. Do your research before you post b/c it makes you look like you don't have a clue.
I remember when I heard this song for the first time in 1968 on a Top 40 (AM) radio station in the San Francisco Bay Area. I was a mere babe at the tender age of 11. The disc jockey exclaimed, "The Beach Boys have done it again!" Ha! Nice play on words, but you could tell he was also delighted to hear a new hit from the boys. BTW: This is one of my favorite beginnings to a Beach Boys' song. I love the fuzz drum beat!
I love the Beach Boys but it comes to watching them on television or watching them live they are like a giant Chinese puzzle you never know who the hell is doing what! Mike love floats around the stage like he's having a conversation with some entity From Another Dimension and nobody seems to know their parts! You can't actually pin down who the hell is singing what! I was only 10 rows from the stage at one point and still couldn't tell who the hell was singing! All I knew for sure is that was John Stamos on the drums! LOL
Jacki Stevens Actually in this case,2012, you are wrong. All five Beach Boys on stage were either Hawthorne originals ie 1961, except Bruce Johnston, who joined April 1965. Either side of 2012 you are correct though with only Mike Love and Johnston involved.
This version kind of sucks it's the sidemen doing all the harmonizing. It gets worse as the years go by. I saw them in Costa Mesa California and I couldn't see anybody actually singing into a microphone! Mike love walked around like a mushroom not even knowing where he was! one of my favorite bands of all time, and the lousiest concert I've ever seen.
Beach Boys are my second favorite band of all time, but this is a sloppy mess. Objectively, just terrible. You can see it on Al's face, like, "What am I doing here?" Brilliant song but never put Mike Love out front to drive the train into a ravine, which he will always gladly do. Must have been a huge payday.
Read Mike Loves autobio . He said it didnt make a profit until the European leg as it was expensive to combine Brians version of the band with Mikes touring version. Brians wife also made demands not agreed upon for tour. I'm surprised with the friction between many of them that it held together for a tour. 15 piece band. 25 crew members and a revolving door of special guests. One bus for Brian paid for by everyone etc. They received a lucrative offer for an Israel concert but Melinda said Brian was going home. So the 7 piece Mike Love.version continues on to bookings post tour. Said big tour sounded great on stage.
Watching the Beach Boys is like time travel back to the 60's.
Long live the memories of Dennis & Carl Wilson. xoxo The Clarences
Brians smile at 2:20

Very awesome song June 3rd was the day I was born.
How amazing they can still maintain the relationship. I love Mike Love's voice despite all the controversies around him. I just enjoy the talent.
Actually they can't at the moment. They only did the 50th for the money, then Mike and Bruce betrayed all the band again for the money lmao
@@Tommy-TwigFan bullshit! Get your facts right
@@yaniingham-thomas5001 nah, you get them right.
The dude was the Beach Boys

Little Honda
Where was this, and what around date?
Beach boys were nothing without Carl Wilson
Why is John Stamos even there?
Because he’s the coolest guy ever
So sad.
Dave is good but no Carl.
mike love has about as much appeal as seaweed wrapped around a boat prop
At least that can be repaired. As for a nasal baritone, no hope.

Gary Snow i was there, but its John Cowsill that was on the drums. I was only a few rows back as well but on Brians side 😊
I grew up with the Beach Boys.....sorry this is NOT the Beach Boys. The two that are left are riding the coat tails of the original B.Boys.

Wake up Van Winkle. Its 50 years on.
They look like old fossels being rolled out to the stage.

Sucks
Nice to see the real Beach Boys, not the Mike Love Band.
