I find when breeding Plecos the Dad’s typically do a good job raising the fry. Not always, but most of the time. It makes it easier for you also. Congrats 🎉

I agree, leaving the eggs with the dads usually gives the best results. I've got my fingers crossed I have similar succes with my L397 group here in the UK.

They also have to learn how to be good parents. Sometimes it takes a few spawns, but their fry will actually know how to care for their offspring. Maybe you want a monopoly though haha 🤔

@@boddiesbuddy1380 My 8 397's are about 14 months in age.. I've had them now for 10 months... any advice on foods? I have many many wood options, they do semolina and algae tabs, come out for flakes, but I don't know if there is a best combination to make them 'ready.' Back when I did Bosmani Rainbow fish, simple frozen brine shrimp once a week and a water change 8 days later made them 'ready' but I've got no clue on these L397s. Bristlenoses were easy and often, so waiting to see but want to help them along so any words you might have are appreciated.

ADd to the tumblers some small catappa leaves. Boil them and let them cool discard the boiling water and ad the leaves to the tumbler. These leaves have amazing antifunga; properties, plus they make the water soft and slightly acidic, plus they promote aufwuchs growth great for otocinclus and plecoes.

Good video, with good content 👌 I'm a fan of plecos.
You're right, the drop in temperature associated with the proximity of rain and storms helps to trigger spawns. It's like a simulation of the rainy season with a reduction in atmospheric pressure.

I keep an app on my phone that watches the kili barometric pressure. Where I live 1014 is 'medium' and usually find it at 1020, but when a storm/rain comes thru it drops to 1008 and lower, making all my fish more active.

Congratz on the breedings! I have breed my Royal twiggs/whip tails multiple times. I leave the fry with the parents and have lots of anubias or Java Fern in the tank. For the fry to graze off of. I feed the tank new life spectrum grow and various types of algea wafers. The fry can't be moved around like plecos as they are quite fragile. I don't move them from the tank until they are atleast 5 cm. Good luck!

Hey man, just made a new acc with idea on sharing my knowledge on breeding tetras and other sort of egg scattering fish. Gonna be honest, i love what you do. Charismatic enough to where people like you, but not over the top like most youtubers.
With pleasantries out the way, i would like to ask a serious question about conditioning fish, which i dont see a lot of people, or actually any place on the internet talking about.
Live foods are the way to go, frozen are a good alternative, but what about places that are not in the US/canada that are harder to get their hands on live food? With corona stuff going on, here in serbia we only got access to grindal worms and micro worms from local hobbyist that kept their cultures going. So i started my research of alternative methods to conditioning, since getting some live / frozen food is ridiculously overpriced. Didnt find much, i'll tell you that... Any ides? Maybe even do a video on how you condition your fish since you have a decent size fish room, and those prices must stack up.
Why conditioning is important? Well, for someone looking to make a few extra bucks on the side, you cant get far with selling 10-20 fish comparing to 200-500 per spawn. And wasting all the food, electricity and time on 10-20 fish is less than ideal. So if you could spend few hours daily raising fry, you would much rather want to get as much out of that as you possibly can, hence the conditioning part.
Thanks for taking your time to read this long post, wish you all the best mate!

I heard in Australia the price is overly high. Here in China L201 L270 L397 fries are about 3-4$ each about 5-6cm. I breed about 26 species and I really really wished I was staying in Australia. Will make lots of profit there
