Obviously he takes good care of his fish... really heathy collection and awesome variety!!! Very nice! I like seeing fishrooms from other parts of the world, the one thing we all have in common is lots of air lots of sponge filtration!!!!
Sponges are good, but I prefer a Tupperware bowl sitting on top of rocks in the tank. The bowls are full of lava rock or gravel or I have these clay pellets that have been like super heated to make pores. Anyway you just pump water from the tank to the bowl and let it overflow/decant into the tank. You get the advantage of gravity/settling in the volume of the bowl and then you put some plant roots into it and you are golden, like Philodendron is what I use but many typical houseplants will work. Top it off with fiberfill pillow material and you have a polishing filter that that you can clean out about every nine months or so and get black mostly odorless (like you have to put your nose right on it and you will get an earthy smell, but it’s straight black), dump it or put it in your garden. My guy called it a bog filter, I was like, no I made it, but apparently I am not the first.
About having too many snails, all you have to do is get a fresh cucumber or carrot, cut a slice or two, put it in the tank for a few hours only and after a few hours you will have many snails on it. All you have to do is take the slice out with all the snails on it. You can put the slice back and repeat or if you are afraid of the slice going bad, you can just put a new fresh slice. In no time, you can get rid of snails that you don't want.
Hydra has to be introduced it doesn’t outbreak on its own, normally comes into your tank via plants or live rock/moss caves.. if you actually have an outbreak of hydra, it’s a sign of a very clean quality setup as they thrive in pristine conditions only.
Can you tell us what types of plecos have the ability to camouflage? I'm confused about what species my pleco is... I actually thought I was hallucinating! 😂
Mick love to know what size your clown loaches are in the monster tank I did have one that was about 6 inches I’ve seen them as big as a foot My very first tank had guppies that had babies and I was fascinated definitely the best starter fish 🐠😳👍
I'm in the UK setting up a breeding rack for plecos and rams I'm cannot find 10 gallon aquariums any where and I don't wanna use the pets at home 28ltr just want a bit more space in the aquarium please help

Give the snail infested cucumber slices to your lfs for good will or a can of pellet food. They will need the snails for their puffer…..
