Hannah, always handing Mr. O. the ratchet the opposite direction he needs, comedy God and keeps him on his toes. Wish you great success in nursing school and beyond.
that's how he left them last, the pitfalls of trying to make videos properly and wrench at the same time... OK OK, just wrenching period, your mind is screaming along thinking about the rest of the job and second guessing every bolt and nut, people lives are in your hands! one wrong bolt missed and fatal wreck could occur:))
Thanks for the tip about not checking sway bar links with only one side jacked up. I had a horrible clunking noise coming from the front but every time I checked the suspension (by jacking one side up at a time and removing the whee) everything was nice and tight. After keeping the car on the ground and giving it the ol’ reach-around, I found the sway bar links to be very loose. Replacing them was very straightforward with minimal cursing, and now the front end is nice and quiet.
So long Hannah. We had the good fortune of spending an afternoon at SMA with you. You contributed to the family atmosphere at the shop. Wish you much success!
Good thing this popped up on my front page. I am pretty sure I have this issue in my 2006 Chrysler T & C. Did change the struts & still does it. Going to my mechanic this a.m. to get him to check them. I'm a senior women who still has an interest in autos.. My motto has been if you own something, being car, house, etc., you better know how things work. Thanks to you tube & programs like yours.
I saw this video just now and it was produced 3 years ago. Just realized Hanna was going to nursing school. Hope she mastered the material with flying colors and still remains inspired to do the job. God bless u, ur family and studies.
My college professor once told me, "Not everyone knows that. We should never assume people know what you know." Information is always valuable to someone. Thanks for the video.
Eric, thank you so much! A few months ago, on my daughter's car, I found and replaced a loose tie rod end because you said to check that whenever you have the wheels off. Later I could hear knocking sounds and because of your video here, I replaced a sway bar link and that solved my problem.
Good luck Hannah, you will make a great nurse. My daughter is a nurse working in the birthing unit. Be strong and proud, us old people are counting on your success. What's poor dad going to do without his right hand man, I mean woman. You got the world by the tail, make us all proud, have some fun on the way, but not to much. LOL. Will miss you. Doug.
13:37 Farewell Hannah. Thank you for all your help. Sorry to see you go but happy to hear of your need adventure at college! Good luck! Do your best and hope to see you on a video now and then!
Fantastic video. I've been chasing a rattle for months. 60 bucks and two hours later, van is running as quiet as the day I bought it!! Thanks for the info.
So glad you did not shorten the intro! I've been searching high and low for feedback on weather sway bars can cause those type of noises. Thanks for taking the time to lay it out. Much much appreciated. And please keep cranking out the details. The close ups and explanations on how something looks or heard is very helpful. And thoughtful.
Good luck Hannah! You know Eric O is going to be lost without you! But, it is easy to see how proud of you he is! Best wishes on your education and career....hope you stop by from time to time! With kindest personal regards..
Eric, I followed your advice on the sway bar links making a rattling sound on my wife’s 2006 Equinox. I replaced both links and it’s like a new car. Took care of the rattle and improved the handling. Thanks!!
Thanks for the explanation of the symptoms and different tensions on lift vs ground vs jack. Very helpful. Not most know this, the intro was a good length to explain enough points.
Thanks miss Hannah O for helping out pops. Very essential help with SMAs channel. You'll be back before you know it. Best regards with future endeavors
Many years from now, Hanna's kids are going to ask her why she uses so much Brake Clean around the house and she will stare off into the distance wistfully and say... "there's your problem lady"
I guess Im randomly asking but does anyone know a trick to get back into an instagram account?? I stupidly lost the login password. I would love any assistance you can offer me.
@Bo Huxley i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and Im trying it out atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I agree 100%, she has the qualities that are important in the workforce. As a nurse you're constantly dealing with people, so that being said she'll do excellent in her career. God bless Hannah!
Something special about youze guys. Really dig you all. bye Hannah. You are so lovely and patient. Ya gotta come back a visit often. You have great vibes and the mechanic is a sweetheart. Ya'll made my day.
Nursing is a great field - lots of options. My sister got out of nursing school last year and had a job offer down here in CT before she actually graduated. Loves her job with babies and is making a killing. Good luck.
God bless you Hanna !! we will miss you!! please come back for a cameo appearance occasionally !! Tell Dr. O to switch his air tools in the correct direction after each use !!! duh
great vid. I learned a lot from your videos. I am an avid watcher and i watched this one because my wife has a clunk noise. I noticed a little play in the lower ball joint. I am replacing the end links because of this video. I appreciate everything you do.
This is exactly what was wrong with my car. I told my husband that I couldn't hold it in the road hardly if I hit a bump...tonight while I was pulling into my driveway the whole tire and rim fell off... The thing with the bolts that you screw the lug nuts on fell off too. The wheel bearing maybe... I'm so mad!!! Thank you for this video!! I'll just watch a hundred of these videos and go out and do it myself! Lovely! Just Lovely!! I'm so mad!!
Just stumbled on this one. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Changed out a lot of those links. First one had to be a Caravan. Miss Hanna must be all graduating by now. Tnx Mr E from Rochester
Good to see you again 'mystery' Hanna, good luck in nursing school, if you ever run into a difficult situation just ask yourself, what would 'eric o' do. You got this girl
This is totally true! I started changing control arms, but decided to reach for the low hanging fruit and change those links. All went quiet after that.
I only recently found your channel, and watching a lot of old videos. Hannah is so awesome. I hope 2 years later she is doing amazing at whatever she is now doing!
Agreed, best way to check is with vehicle on the ground. Turn the steering to one side, one person with their hand on the sway bar and one person wiggles the steering wheel back and forth. Also works great for tie rod ends.
It was nice to see a young woman working in a garage environment, involved with the technical stuff of tools, parts and the occasional job. The camera work was great and the interaction had a nice, comfortable feel to it. Appreciate what you brought to the videos. Good luck in the similar and mostly cleaner world of nursing and care.
Best wishes to Hannah in her future endeavors in life. I'm sure she enjoyed all the things she learned from working for you Eric. Thanks fir sharing the info on the sway bar link.
i would like to say Good Luck Hannah and Eric'O is gonna miss you more than you will know and of course me too however your on a new adventure in life so embrace it with open arms and go for it.
You better believe he's going to miss her. When I visited two years ago I told Eric that Hanna increases his productivity by 50%. If anything, my estimate was on the low side.
wink Cool, yes and the other young man but never seen him much in videos as he was in another bay in workshop sounded like doing tyres n stuff, Good Luck Young Man as he is leaving for another life journey too. that's what happens in smaller towns i guess.
Ah! An aftermarket part you don't seem to mind! That's great because I like moog. There pretty expensive but I've always thought they were a much stronger design than any dorman part from just feeling and seeing the difference of the 2 is very noticeable. Btw you should be happy and greatful for your child is doing well and staying out of trouble. She should learn a trade also but she has a lot of work ahead to be a doctor or nurse. Good luck Hanna and thanks SMA for all the great knowledge.
Hanna ...Remember to NOT use those tools (and BrakeKlean) in your new profession :) Good luck and thank you for making PaPa O's job a lot easier... We will miss you
G'day, Mr. O! We're going to miss your lovely assistant, Miss. Hannah! (The best in your adventure, Miss. Hannah!) By the way, torque to specs! Two Ugga Dugga, or three Ugga duggas etc... it always cracks me up!!! Thank you for "Repairing Front Suspension Rattles!" Cheers!
Good luck to you, Hannah- I think this is the most you've said your entire tenure at SMA. There's no reason to be camera shy- you're gorgeous, witty, and charming; I've always enjoyed your off-camera banter with Eric. Hey Eric- ever consider an outhouse for the compressor?
Hannah rocks!!! Definitely gonna miss her from the videos :-( I have to admit I was hoping she would reveal her relationship to Eric O. But atleast at the end of the video she gave us an Eric O. Finger imitation. Best of Luck to you Hannah.
easy there Hulk! you about lifted the escape off the rack when you were showing the noise in the stabilizer link. sad to see hannah go but wish here well in nursing school!
great video as always, published on my b-day,added bonus, and good luck hannah on your schooling,we all know you'll do great, you were a great worker for SMA and i'm sure you'll be missed a lot, working with the O's must have been super,Mr and Mrs O seem like top notch folks that would be a pleasure to work for, you'll have to stop in here and there and make some guest appearances, lol
I hate those darn sway bar links. Yeah they can make a hell if a racket that makes you think it's something else that's much bigger like a motor mount or ball joint. Thanks Eric! Good luck Hannah!
I hope Hannah is enjoying great success in pursuit of her nursing degree. She sure has the right temperament to be a nurse! She's so kind and gentle. I'd love to get an update on her academic career, two years after this video!
I put new sway bar links and ball joints on my daughter's 2011 GMC Terrian then put new struts and springs a couple day's later. About 1 week later she says the one of the struts is broke, So I take it for a ride and sure enough it sounds like a broken strut. Knowing both are brand new I'm guessing catastrophic failure on one of them. I pull it in lift it up start checking everything and BINGO, sway bar link was not tighten enough and came loose, So I tighten it again and test drive it and the noise is gone. I obviously did not tighten it enough when I installed it a week prior. The noise that little link made was extremely loud and if I had to bet on it prior to finding it I would have said a busted Strut or Spring. Great Video.
Hannah, always handing Mr. O. the ratchet the opposite direction he needs, comedy God and keeps him on his toes. Wish you great success in nursing school and beyond.

Good luck Hannah. Nursing is a great field (my daughter is an RN). Hope you enjoy it. We will miss you.

As a rookie I’d love more vids like this.
General knowledge on what to check first is so valuable thanks for ur hard work.
Fantastic video. I've been chasing a rattle for months. 60 bucks and two hours later, van is running as quiet as the day I bought it!! Thanks for the info.

Work hard, Hannah...that is all that school is. The whole SMA community is wishin' ya the best.

So true
You are a real mechanic, you have earned my respect.
Many years from now, Hanna's kids are going to ask her why she uses so much Brake Clean around the house and she will stare off into the distance wistfully and say... "there's your problem lady"

Goodbye Hannah and Hello Nurse! You'll be able to come back and patch up Eric's skinned knuckles. Good luck in the new career.

Best of luck Hannah, that is a very noble profession you have chosen.
Something special about youze guys. Really dig you all. bye Hannah. You are so lovely and patient. Ya gotta come back a visit often. You have great vibes and the mechanic is a sweetheart. Ya'll made my day.

I hate those darn sway bar links. Yeah they can make a hell if a racket that makes you think it's something else that's much bigger like a motor mount or ball joint. Thanks Eric! Good luck Hannah!
Thanks Eric and best of luck Hannah!!!
I hope Hannah is enjoying great success in pursuit of her nursing degree. She sure has the right temperament to be a nurse! She's so kind and gentle. I'd love to get an update on her academic career, two years after this video!
Good Luck Hannah. Just remember though, Doctors and the AMA frown on using Brakleen on patients.
I put new sway bar links and ball joints on my daughter's 2011 GMC Terrian then put new struts and springs a couple day's later. About 1 week later she says the one of the struts is broke, So I take it for a ride and sure enough it sounds like a broken strut. Good luck on your new journey Hannah. By the way great video Eric. Now I know what to look at now because I believe I have the same problem.
