Godsend of a video! Thanks mate, I was literally just posting on reddit and Facebook on what colors was used for the kasrkin camo pattern. And mournfang brown is spot on!
I plan on figuring out a 'space hulk camo' scheme using dark greys with orange as the camo splotch color to mimic rust and tie in with the killteam promotional material.
@@cthuludreams1 Need some more people in the UK to put them up for us poor people in Australia... even with the shipping and ebay selling costs, it's still better than buying from GW.
1+yr later there's boxes upon boxes of them available. Virtually anywhere. Never fall for GWs "Gotta get it gotta get it now!" overhyped mass hysteria. And definentely dont pay a scalper for ANYTHING! Give them NOTHING! Patience, wait ten months. I assure you, the shelves will be overstocked with every new thing or model they produce. And that limited edition box with the right combination of units? Well they change the combat patrols with every new edition. Dont fall for the box collection hypes either. Trust me, their thing is boxes, there will be other boxes Ive watched them put the Arbites first in Killteam box, then the boarding patrol box, the Inquisition ordo boxes, and now they are in the Inquisition combat patrol box. There was no reason for me to "have it now" ive had 4 opportunities to get them and ten months later they are everywhere.
I'm really looking forward to painting some of these guys myself. I am torn between trying to do them in the "classic" way or some sort of urban camo scheme. At the moment, I'm thinking the urban camo, just since everyone else I know wants to paint them like the box art.
I've actually thought of doing something similar to the old black and red, Inquisitorial storm trooper scheme... Not that I'll be painting them any time soon. GW really underestimated how well this box was going to sell.
Great video Ben. I learned something’s that I can apply to some other projects. I struggled to see what you were doing in this video. Maybe I am just getting to old or the phone screen to small(lol). Not sure if it is due to the size of the sculpt or the camera framing. Everything was just a bit to far away for me. Just a thought. Thanks for the education!!
🎉really cool looking I've seen a new pattern for these soldiers on a black library book that's recently come out is their a chance you might show us how to paint this camouflage pattern. I must say I've enjoyed every article you've done so keep up the good work ...🤪🤛knockout 💯% ripper mate 🇭🇲
Thanks Ben. Even for very experienced painters going back to the basics is very important. This was a helpful video. By the way, I also speak Spanish, so I want to help you a little with your Vallejo pronunciation. There is not a V as in Victor sound in Spanish, rather they pronounce it as a softer B. Also a double L in Spanish is always pronounced like an English letter Y. The rest of your pronunciation is excellent. So think Buh yay ho, then practice that a few times and you will get it. You can also hear Spanish painters like Angel Giraldez and Juan Hidalgo on RUclips pronounce it for reference. I think most English speakers just don't know the Spanish language, so they don't know how to pronounce Spanish letters other than J (J being used commonly for Latin/Mexican food and for the name Juan and jalapeño pepper in English speaking countries). By the way, while I am at it, when you see the little squiggle over a letter N like Ñ, that means to add a Y sound immediately after the N sound. I hope that this is helpful to you and anyone who reads this.
I think they might be 28mm bases but I decided to sacrifice accuracy for aesthetics as I really like the necro bases ! I'll probably swap them out for the new void war bases when they come out
I thought the same but the kit is bonkers. You won't be dissapointed. A lot of the poses are very simillar to the metals, I chose two of the more open ones for the tutorial to showcase the techniques a little better
The thing that looks a little off is the camo not following the lighting scheme you set with the airbrush. The other is the environmental lights that are reflected on the base, aren't reflected on the model. This might be too much work for the kind of result you where going for, being gaming pieces and all.
@@cultofpaint Okay, I honestly didn't expect a response to an older video so thanks! Does Ben have an insta or something I can follow? I'd love to see the rest of his Guard army.
Killer guide. This team seems like a lot of fun. Thanks Ben!
Thanks! They are superb and very rewarding to paint.

Glad you liked it!
Go on Ben!! Great to see another video from your good self, being of the same vintage these will always be Imperial Guard for me too.
Painting the exterior line of the camo shape first, then the dark interior afterward; very clever!
Thanks! Makes life a lot easier than trying to line it all in after

Looks amazing! Really tempted to attempt to replicate this.
Thanks! Let us know how it goes
Great color scheme Ben! Love the video! Can’t wait to get my hands on these and paint them up as well!
Thanks! Keep us posted on how you paint them
Would be great to be able to actually order these 😭
Seller on ebay had 20+ of them 2 days ago at a 15% discount. Just got my shipping notification this morning.

I did consider the urban camo scheme of the 122nd Cadian but decided to keep that in reserve for the new codex
Just found this video! you should do more videos Ben!

Thankyou and im glad you enjoyed it. I appreciate the feedback and I will zoom in a bit more for the next one
Look awesome, would you be able to do a tutorial on bahards revenge? Want to do this model justice when I get it
The difficulty is not the paint. But the Buy of this set!!!
Will you make a guide on how you painted the space hulk terrain? It caught my eye in the final picture.
Ben did a video tutorial for it a couple of weeks ago, it's available on our Patreon.
"a certain vintage" 😂😂
Man i feel called out
Looks great, but is there a way to achieve the first result without an airbrush? maybe some contrast green paint? im still new and got this set.
Whatd you do for the visors/goggles of the models?

Great job. What colors would you recommend for an urban camo scheme?
With the upcoming Guard release we'll be covering a variety of schemes, we'll work out our fave urban one for sure.
Ah so they come with 25mm bases, thanks for mentioning that!

They're alright but the original metal minis were so perfect and iconic it's a tough comparison

Would you use the same greens to paint your standard guard infantry or make a colour change to help them stand out?
Just asked Ben. He said yeah he'd use the same greens.

How do these compare in terms of height to the death korps plastics? I heard they were a good bit taller unfortunately.
Tiny bit taller, but same scale. So just beefier really, which makes sense.
Paint list? 😊
