HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE! I'm taking you along with me on my shopping trip to IKEA to show you all the best hidden gems you probably didn't know existed!! IKEA can be a very overwhelming store, so I hope this video gives you some ideas for your next shopping trip! Enjoy!!😍
Kristen/i love IKEA/a great store/i was wondering if they deliver to disabled elderly?Im 64 with a weak heart/and a whole lot more going on/i was wondering if you could help/?
@ 7:20 - You say “they even have glass shelves” twice - I guess it was an editing mistake no big deal but just thought you might want to know because you are kind of a perfectionist… lol
That's a really great tip. Would also work for some other things that are small as well. Thank you for suggesting this. Inspiration successfully sparked
I put the frother base down in a little glass and throw the cardboard tube over it and keep it next to the coffee grinder on the counter. I went through a lot of them before I came up with this!
If you make your own salad dressing (e.g., vinaigrette), the milk frother is the perfect tool to mix and emulsify all your ingredients. Better than a whisk.
Thanks for being so clear and concise with your voiceover content. You never over elaborate and you do a really good job of keeping a good pace to your videos. Keep up the good work!
The cooling pillow is 100% awesome, Ive had mine for a year already and its still in great condition and amazing especially in the hot weather we have had here in the UK recently
I would suggest looking online, there are a lot of things that are not shown in store (make sure to select your store before browsing). You can buy online and have them gather all your things (instead of going on a scavenger hunt, and not finding 50% of the things on your list) together; so you just have to pick it up.
Is anyone lamenting the end of IKEA's paper catalogue? I went over every page of each new edition, and I know it kept me thinking about my next trip and planning my next home improvements, big and small. Come to think of it, I've not set foot in the store since they ceased publication. I KNOW it's paper. I KNOW it takes a lot if work to produce. But it was my dream book. I'd gladly pay for one.
I have several years worth. Makes me wish I had saved them all. 2003/4 helped me plan a home makeover. I’ll never outgrow IKEA. Half my furniture is from there 🤣
If you are in a state that has a Daiso (it’s a Japanese version of the dollar store) you can find those little kitchen items including the clear glass bottles and more for under $5.
IKEA iron on hem tape is the best value ever. Also, the plain ikea drapes are a huge bargain. You get TWO panels that are over 9 feet long for under $30. I got some 2 1/2 inch roll of greek key ribbon off the internet and sewed it onto the leading edge. A similar style curtain was S$600 per panel (yes hundred) from Nordstroms).
I remember buying my first 2 person table at IKEA in 1987. The matching chairs came from the As Is section and are unfortunately long gone. We still use what we lovingly call my "bachelorette" table. Games, puzzles, dinner, Christmas tree, and mask sewing station have all been located on this table. Right now my 22 year old son uses it as his work from home desk. 💙

Very happy with mattresses purchased there, both price and quality. The fact that they were rolled up in heavy duty protective plastic with handles made them easy to transport home. Live plants are good there too. Nice video thanks for the great gift ideas.
While Kristen does a nice job on her channel, we need to remember that most IKEA products are manufactured in China. Let's support American made if we can or at least support countries that are our allies.
We were so happy when we got an IKEA in the Twin Cities. I have Swedish heritage and have studied the language long enough that I can pronounce the names they give the items. 🙂 Don't forget that if you have an IKEA Family card, you can get a free cup of coffee whenever you shop there.
@@katherinecross8059 I don't know how it is in the rest of the world but here in Sweden it's completely free and honestly I'd be surprised if it wasn't free everywhere. The membership also comes with special deals and discounts so it's definitely worth checking for more info online or when at IKEA the next time. 😊
This was actually a really good video thank you for this. I end up turning off about three fourths of the videos I start because they’re just the same blah blah. This was very informative from start to finish and I’m glad I watched it. Excellent content
I can highly recommend ÖVERST, its a funnel with an insert that is a metal-filter. So you can use it to make dripping coffee and also to transfer liquids or powders to containers and bottles with smaller openings. Also check out the ISTAD, resealble bags in big variety of sizes!
Those milk frothers used to be a mere 99c. But, at $2.49…they’re still a steal and what a great gift with a bag/tin of gourmet coffee! Think Christmas!!
I've a friend since school, she has twins, a girl and a boy. They're 5 since almoszt 2 weeks and they share one big bedroom with two windows and a Kallax in the middle. They've these shelf things inside and my friend painted the doors and the front of the drawer pink and blue. So one side of the room is white, light green and soft pink and the other side is white, light green and light blue. It looks so fantastic and both have the same space on their sides of the Kallax to put their toys inside. Both kids have also their bed including a big dresser and a desk with a little book shelf. I'm excited to see, how long they'll stay together in this room, maybe until they're teenagers.
Another hidden FACT, if you see something in the displays that is out of stock and will not be stocked in a reasonable timeframe (usually within 30 days I believe), they will sell it to you at a great discount. The department you are in will need to generate a specific display buy voucher for the item, then you take it and the product to the "as is" section for them to price. Last week I got the most incredible deal. I picked up small Frojdefull bowls for my mise en place which were 2 for 12.99, out of stock. I took the last eight they had on display and they marked it down to 7.99 for all eight.
Not here in Australia. They had a display of monitor stands in the colour I wanted but only white in stick, no date for availability and still wouldn't sell off display.
Considered myself an IKEA expert, but was shocked at the hidden gems you showed! For example, I have never opened the kitchen cabinets in the show room. Now, I cannot wait to go visit my IKEA and get some items for my new college apartment. ;)
The cooling pillow and liners are definitely something I am interested in. Especially during really hot summer nights. This is a great find! Thanks Kristen. 👍🏾
The three pack of scissors is what I seem to buy every time! They’re sharp and good household scissors…but not so dear that it’s an issue when a pair go missing. It seems like we either have one pair of scissors or 15! Lol! They just seem to come and go at will. :)
Lol.... I read a science fiction short story decades ago that put forth the theory that certain inanimate objects were life stages of other objects. Paper clips were eggs, wire hangers were the larvae and bicycles were another stage. That is why you can't find them when you are looking for them and they seem to migrate from place to place.
Ha, the best thing I ever did for peace of mind was to put a scissors into every top drawer! Especially at Christmas, it's such a stress reliever when someone asks for a scissors.
Ikea's VÄRDEFULL Potato peeler is the best and sharpest peeler I've ever owned. They sell a cheaper one but skip that one and splurge for this one instead. Just be careful how you store it in your kitchen drawer. It's that sharp! I agree with the milk frother. I have one and love it!
I used to be IKEA obsessed in my late 20's. In fact, a girlfriend and I used to go every single Saturday for about 2 years! But that was before kids and real responsibilities set in for s both. Now I rarely get there and it was so fun seeing some of the new things they have out! I love the black cutlery and the cooling pillow and mat. This was my first time coming across your channel and your video was really fun and helpful. Thanks!
On that subject, another hidden gem of ikea is småland - one hour of shopping peace for you while they look after your kids who are excited they get to play in the giant ball pit, recently reopened after a pandemic shut down. Also the prosecco in the restaurant you can sit down to enjoy in that hour (my store is Ikea Italy…)
The hemming tape!!!! I would buy maybe 150ft. IF the product even exists in Italian Ikea. Iron on patches for mending things like linens, jeans, and vintage fabrics. The tape could be cut into short pieces to create whatever patch needed. I've searched everywhere to find iron on patches. They don't seem to exist in Italy. Thank you Kristen. You shared a lot of useful items. Brava!
Having just had the hottest temperatures on record here in London for two days I could have done with that cooling mat and pillow. Will definitely look out for them on my next IKEA trip.
Agree about the frothers. I keep at least 4 new ones on hand because invariably a guest uses it and wants one. I can give them one right away. My grandchildren all love the alphabet cookies so I buy numerous boxes to have on hand.
I can't believe you didn't mention the pots. The set that I chose have thick bottoms for event heat, and they clean up so easily. There is one that you can get an optional pasta cooker (I use it to steam veggies, too). The prices are great and with the clean-up being so easy without Teflon worries or other coatings that will eventually break down and get into food. I gave my 80 year old Mom one and she instantly loved it. She worried that I spent too much, and I explained it was from IKEA. Then I explained what that meant. ☺ Not expensive, but great quality. Give them a try!
My favorite IKEA gem is their vegetable peeler! it's sleek, compact and sharp. The best part is that it has a soft grip handle at a fraction of the price you would pay for other brands. Great video, Kristen! I will definitely be picking up a few of the items you mentioned. That ring light looks great.
I LOVE the AS IS section, you can buy anything at a discount. I buy my pillow covers there too. But I use my old pillows inside the covers to save money.
Wow. I've never been to ikea in person but now I'm planning a trip for this weekend...the Kallax customizations you showed would be perfect for organizing art supplies. Love that you can insert cabinets into some of the cubes to hide clutter but still keep others open
I LOVE the as-is section at Ikea. When I was rug shopping for my home, I actually found the exact rug I had chosen for my living room in the as-is section for about $40 less than it was new. I walked the new rug all the way back to its spot after snatching up that returned version, lol.
I found two huge down feather pillows last year for $4 each! They were that awesome black & white houndstooth pattern, which I absolutely love, but the insides are removable, so I can swap out the covers when we finally get around to buying new couches!
I'm really not that impressed with Ikea anymore. They won't build a store between Seattle and the Canadian border, their items are constantly out of stock, and their shipping is so expensive.
So impressed with this that I went on Ikea's website for the first time and ordered the pillow inserts, the milk frother, the hem tape, glass jars with cork lids and an assortment of faux plants! Thanks so much!
I've been an IKEA fan since the early 2000s. I still have my metal bed, foam mattress, nightstand table, bed duvet sets for about 12 years now and still look great. I was obsessed with their bed duvets covers but are a little pricey. I bought some recently for my sons bed. Two of my dressers broke, so I dont buy certain furniture there because it's not real wood and don't last long. I love buying kitchen cookware sets, spatulas, outdoor decor, glass food containers, wooden toys and studded animals for my son, the list is endless. IKEA makes everyone happy and I can't just go and buy one thing, my mom and I always come out of the store with a lot of wonderful stuff. I used to also order online, but sometimes some items don't get shipped with the other items or are missing and the shipping fees increased too.
One thing I always get at Ikea are the meatballs. Also the white garden watering can - I forget the name - can be used to water in two ways as the "handle" has a hole in it, so you can turn it around when you need to water something in a more controlled way than with the normal spout. Pretty cleaver design.
its a shame that in my country ikea products are way overpriced. prices are always 150%-300% higher then what i see in your videos, so nothing is actualy affordble :(
I’m giving this a HUGE thumbs down....why, because it is brand new and most of the items can be sourced from op shops, other 2nd hand places etc, IKEA products break and are always been giving away........DON’T BUY NEW - THINK OF YOUR CARBON FOOT PRINT NOT YOUR BRAND NEW SO CALLED FASHIONABLE NEW ITEMS !
Your as is area is epic. I love that section. I actually go there 1st to see if something I was already buying is there. The frothing wand is great to make could foam. I am definitely going to see if my store has the cooling pillow inserts. Because, I don't like memory foam pillows.
This beauty forgot one thing......No American jobs are supported in the manufactoring or assembly.....If one is living the American dream, they should support other Americans and buy Lay Z boy furnishings.....
The AS-IS section has many gems but can also be a bit of a scam sometimes. I've bought there multiple times for the same price as the item would have been in store while the item was still regularly sold. Especially for stuff like vases and small decorative items. I now always check the price. Because even if it's just lightly used, you expect at least a little bit of a discount, not just 100% list price. While pretending to be cheaper. That felt a bit disappointing when I found out.
A cheese slicer (ostehøvel)! You might be able to find it other places as well as this is a Norwegian invention and very typical Norwegian, but Ikea def sells it, and the ikea version they sell is named hjälpreda.
Unfortunately „my“ IKEA here in Ireland is sooo far away (there is only one in the entire country! About 4-4,5 hours drive away from me). I knew most of those gems, and Kallax is my favourite. Or maybe the curtain hem trick. Both are so useful, simple yet aesthetic.
@@diannedelledera3096 Yes, they do, but the freight costs are quite high as soon as there is a bigger piece in the order, a small parcel is okay, about 10 dollars.
There's one in Belfast too, if that helps. I love visiting the Dublin one, and often I have heard people coming up overnight for meetings or a match and the family come along specifically for a day in IKEA because the food is good and affordable for a change.
@@FurnitureFan Thanks, but that's even farther away from my place in the Southwest of Ireland, and being UK probably more expensive plus hazzle with customs...
next time you're there look for the medium size shopping bags - very very useful size, I use them constantly. They are usually hidden somewhere since for some reason they're not promoted nearly as much.
The IKEA Sale is unmissable. Last year my son, daughter and I all made purchases for our homes. Everything from upholstery fabrics to furniture, casserole dishes to bedding...literally every department. We spent a total of £2,809.49, the original prices totalled to £9,644.49. Best buys included stunning upholstery fabrics reduced from £14.99 to £1.50 per metre, an amazing handwoven wool carpet from Afghanistan reduced from £1,800 to £250 and an oak sideboard for £99, originally £699. We filled three cars!
The broom and dust pan would be too small for anyone above 5'1. I can use it, but my husband and kids can't use it because it makes them hunch their backs to sweep the floor. I have almost everything in this video (I love ikea), the pillow is AMAZING! I knocked out for 8 hours the first night I used it (I normally wake up every 30 minutes to an hour, all night). I would suggest looking online, there are a lot of things that are not shown in store (make sure to select your store before browsing). You can buy online and have them gather all your things (instead of going on a scavenger hunt, and not finding 50% of the things on your list) together so you just have to pick it up.
If you are in a country that stocks Oxo home goods, Oxo has a similar dust pan and broom with an extendable pole, so usable by those above 5'2" (I happen to be short so I can use either). In my experience, the bristles on the Oxo one are better at releasing dirt into the dustpan, even sticky dirt like cooked rice.
I’m interested in the foam pillow with the cooling pad. i’m going to search the website to see if I can find it.Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful and blessed day and stay safe.
i’ve been loving ikea every since my mom and grandma would go and keep me at the childrens play area. when i was a kid, that place was so so fun, i don’t know if it is still available from covid but if you have kids you should definitely leave them at the kids play place so you can shop peacefully and your kids won’t be bored. now being older, i could go to ikea every week just to look around , they have a ton of amazing stuff and furniture, i bought organizer buckets and keep it in my pantry, i love ikea
What I don’t like about ikea is that you walk and walk and can’t find your way out. Having said that we’ve been there once for the first time a couple of months ago and then two weeks later because we moved house and I’m sorting out the pantry. I love your tips and recommendations and perhaps I should learn to enjoy ikea.
@@hazelem1266 I should think you do, more power to you. My husband felt the same way, plus he was getting claustrophobic from all the people. His break from it was to go to the restaurant for kotbullar. His family was Swedish and that was comfort food. Our lives are better because of people like you..... thank you.
The milk frother and the spice jars.. We just went to IKEA. I wish I had seen this first. Its a long drive and we were there to build my daughter a custom vanity from random parts she picked. I want to go back now. Thanks for the tips, I may order on line.
My granddaughters into art and this weekend is her birthday and I was gonna order a lot of things off Amazon but I could probably get them cheaper right at IKEA which I will do 🤗Thank you
Too many to mention about which one of the hidden gems you pointed out that I like. And your like a hidden gem for me too with all your great tips in all your great videos! Thank you!!!😊
My main Ikea must have is the dish scrubber! It has a suction cup handle so it stands on its own, has a built in dish scraper, and is dishwasher safe for easy cleaning! Had my first one for a few years and only replaced it because I liked the newer version better. You wouldn't even know I've had it long and it's so easy to clean!!
Here in Israel, the "As Is" section is called "Finds"! I always head there first and have become buddies with the manager. Instead of paying the full price of $350 per Ottoman with storage, I got 6 discontinued identical units for $125 each. I still have to make custom back cushions, but I created a corner group sofa with storage that seats 10 for $850. Thank you for teaching me about the cooling pads and art supply holder. I'm be checking those out .
I like all of the things you showed in this video. The container with all of the screws and accessories was perfect for me. Do you know if they sell a container like that w/o the screws, etc.in it? I need both. Thanks so much!

Very relatable 😀
@@tsugima6317 I think i read the same story. And that seems to explain why i always get less socks and more and more pens.
Maybe that's why they named it Valuable (värdefull, which literally means full of worth)
I just have to say, The tool set and the drill set are the best things you can own I am you finding uses for them all the time! Very affordable!
I didn't know most of this stuff existed, especially the hemming tape, that cost way more in a fabric store! Thanks Kristen!
Brava!
Hi
Curtains always used to come with the tape!
Hello 👋
Having just had the hottest temperatures on record here in London for two days I could have done with that cooling mat and pillow. Will definitely look out for them on my next IKEA trip.
I love the paintbrushes from the childrensection for a lot of my diy-projects 🙂
Found you last week. Love your channel!! Subbed and bingeing!! And already using some of your great tips in the spare bedroom : ) : ) : )

Would you mind sharing the name of the pot set you are referring to?
New here in Mumbai 🏡
I walked the new rug all the way back to its spot after snatching up that returned version, lol.
same here; i loved a rug but it was way out of my budget and will you believe it was in the as-is section for almost half price. :D
Me too! I got the exact chair I went in to look at!
I found two huge down feather pillows last year for $4 each! They were that awesome black & white houndstooth pattern, which I absolutely love, but the insides are removable, so I can swap out the covers when we finally get around to buying new couches!
This is why I like IKEA stuff...they always have new items. Love the shelves and inserts I could use that alot. Thanks Kristen for inspiring me.
A new branch in Mumbai 🏡
I'm really not that impressed with Ikea anymore. They won't build a store between Seattle and the Canadian border, their items are constantly out of stock, and their shipping is so expensive.
Every store has items out of stock. It’s called the corona crisis.
So impressed with this that I went on Ikea's website for the first time and ordered the pillow inserts, the milk frother, the hem tape, glass jars with cork lids and an assortment of faux plants! Thanks so much!
Hello 👋 how’re you doing?
A new branch in Mumbai 🖐️
I just ordered two of the cooling pads for our cats. Thanks so much!
Exactly what I'm doing too!
Yeees, I plan to order one for my dog 😊
Pretty cleaver design.
my niece's family love the meatballs. they will drive just for it. And this is in UAE.
What?! I have the watering can...for years now. I never knew about the handle. Just tried it. So cool! lol. Thanks!
its a shame that in my country ikea products are way overpriced. prices are always 150%-300% higher then what i see in your videos, so nothing is actualy affordble :(
Same here in 🇨🇭. It’s not fair. 🤷🏻♀️
As a plant parent, the fact that the cooling pad is called Rexbegonia (rex begonia) is hysterical😆
Thanks for sharing I love the light/phone holder. One for my daughter and one for me. I also like to check out the as-is area. 🤗😍
Gonna have to get the cooling pad for my cats - the heat is killing them.8
Thank you. Loving all these hidden jems. I haven't been to Ikea for a while and now ready for a trip!!❤️❤️
"They even have glass shelves...!" bahahaha if you catch it, you know ;)
Your as is area is epic. I love that section. I actually go there 1st to see if something I was already buying is there. The frothing wand is great to make could foam. I am definitely going to see if my store has the cooling pillow inserts. Because, I don't like memory foam pillows.
Although i am a big ikea fan and regularly shop there, i didnt know about half of these items!! Thanks so much!! Such great tips 😉👍
This beauty forgot one thing......No American jobs are supported in the manufactoring or assembly.....If one is living the American dream, they should support other Americans and buy Lay Z boy furnishings.....
Monroe, Michigan! Lay Z Boy built a new headquarters there (it was in Monroe, MI before.) That is a quality product.
@@krystinaszabo4811 cool....
I love Ikea but the closest one is 340 miles away. Haven't been in 2 years. I love the cafeteria too!
I feel that I'm at IKEA once a month and I've never noticed ANY of these items! What a great videos! Thanks for the tips.
Not all the stores have all the same items. You should check on the app before wasting a journey.
Fab video. My IKEA hidden gem is a knife sharpener xxx
Hello 👋 how are you doing?
Will they ship to you?
@@diannedelledera3096 Yes, they do, but the freight costs are quite high as soon as there is a bigger piece in the order, a small parcel is okay, about 10 dollars.
There's one in Belfast too, if that helps. I love visiting the Dublin one, and often I have heard people coming up overnight for meetings or a match and the family come along specifically for a day in IKEA because the food is good and affordable for a change.
@@FurnitureFan Thanks, but that's even farther away from my place in the Southwest of Ireland, and being UK probably more expensive plus hazzle with customs...
Rats! I was in IKEA yesterday and didn't see those spray bottles. I would have bought about six. I have so little space under my sink.
I am definitely getting a froth maker for gifts 🎁. I also love the lingonberry jam! ❤️
We always buy their large shopping bags. We use them for everything from laundry to storage. We rarely use them for shopping, lol.
next time you're there look for the medium size shopping bags - very very useful size, I use them constantly.
I liked this video so much!!! I found my patio furniture on the “As is” area, and I love it!!!
Just learned something new… Thank you Kristen, I’ll definitely be picking up a few of these items at my local Ikea store 🧡🤩
One hidden gem I discovered at IKEA is batteries. They are very affordable!!
And light bulbs!
Especially button batteries. I always pick up at least 1 package
I have the Kallax shelf. And I had no idea there was drawers and inserts for the units. Thank so much for the tip. I’ve added 3 to my cart already.
Am i the only one, that hates ikea....i don't understand that People go there for fun
I’m interested in the foam pillow with the cooling pad. i’m going to search the website to see if I can find it.Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful and blessed day and stay safe.
What city and state is this Ikea at? Mine doesn't look this good.
i’ve been loving ikea every since my mom and grandma would go and keep me at the childrens play area. when i was a kid, that place was so so fun, i don’t know if it is still available from covid but if you have kids you should definitely leave them at the kids play place so you can shop peacefully and your kids won’t be bored. now being older, i could go to ikea every week just to look around , they have a ton of amazing stuff and furniture, i bought organizer buckets and keep it in my pantry, i love ikea
I love the cool pillows. I love IKEA curtain rods.
Think of it as your exercise walk for the day, with shopping thrown in!
If you ask, I think they will give you a map of the store.
@@tsugima6317 as a nurse I think I do my fair share of walking.
A great video! As Swedish I really 'wish all products you show could be bought here as well. 😁😇
My granddaughters into art and this weekend is her birthday and I was gonna order a lot of things off Amazon but I could probably get them cheaper right at IKEA which I will do 🤗Thank you
I always get my wooden hangers from IKEA!
Thanks again for this video.Never knew some of these things existed.Loving the ring light and mobile holder and the cooling pillow.
Too many to mention about which one of the hidden gems you pointed out that I like. And your like a hidden gem for me too with all your great tips in all your great videos! Thank you!!!😊
I need the milk frother and the pillow inserts.
I love to have a very comfortable bed a sofa bed and sofa with a pullout bed
Here in Israel, the "As Is" section is called "Finds"! I always head there first and have become buddies with the manager. Instead of paying the full price of $350 per Ottoman with storage, I got 6 discontinued identical units for $125 each. I still have to make custom back cushions, but I created a corner group sofa with storage that seats 10 for $850.
Thank you for teaching me about the cooling pads and art supply holder. I'm be checking those out .
Did you find the cooling pad here in Israel? Would love to get one but they are not listed on their website.
Cooling pads. Omg. Going to tomorrow and hoping they are in store.
I like all of the things you showed in this video. The container with all of the screws and accessories was perfect for me. Do you know if they sell a container like that w/o the screws, etc.in it? I need both. Thanks so much!
did not see the living room chair that turned into a bed ,, saw it 2 yrs, ago for bout 555.00 have"nt been able to save up the money
The milk frother is so amazing I got 3 lol,it used to be 99p but still a good little tool to have with the prices up 😂
MY GOSH ... STOP PUNCHING THE PILLOWS !!! 🙄🙄🙄 THIS IS SO BRAINLESS !!! 🙄🙄🙄 IF PILLOWS NEEDED TO LOOK LIKE THIS, THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN MADE IN THIS SHAPE !!! 🙄🙄🙄
