"--- Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep.
All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them.
I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture.
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it.
The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep.
“I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me- just as the Father knows me and I know the Father-and I lay down my life for the sheep.
I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.
The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life-only to take it up again.
No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father. ---"

Exactly... and also pray for seeing the child in them that is also seeking God to be able to discern how to react in concrete situations. You known, listen to the Lord and trust Him to lead your speech and acts or inaction and patience. God is never about "do this when that", reality just cannot be summarized that way. The same with giving to beggars. One time it is good to give all you have and more and other time to reject them and tell them the truth they may not want but need to hear that they are looking for the wrong thing. Ideally our actions of charity or rebuking are to be ways to show people their value in the Highest. Helping them believe that they matter. And for that we ourselves have to see that value in them. We are to care and pay attention to the specific person before us. That forces us to engage with people and that makes us alive. Genuine interest in one another. Not filling whatever righteousness we think is good. Life/God is not about doing the right thing. We are not to care about doing the right thing. We are to care about one another. That is God. Love thy neighbour. And this way and only this way will we ever do the right things, rebuke harshly at appropriate time and suffer quietly at appropriate time.
And also this way we grow. Together and individually.
But at the same time there supposedly are some general "guidelines". As the more direct and close an offense is the more you respond in rebuking. Like if some pride flag harraser breaks into your local temple you just immediately chase them out ideally with that whip like Christ. Because in such a standing their are hurting your christian brethren, God and also it is in their best interest in God not to slander Him and be damning themselves - ie in this case you might be doing that out of actual love for them and maybe spark some little respect for the sacred as lgbts are actually searching for limitations to bump into in this age of no boundaries just like little children need them from parents.
The farther away on the street they are from you the more you pray for them and the louder and more provoking the less you approach to try tell them what they are doing. Hope this is of some help to you. May the Lord guide you in approaching us all with ever more genuine care! The best things is always to read the Stories of Scripture and Gospels and deeply getting to know how Christ Is, He shows you the proper ways of reacting in all circumstances.
