  • What does it mean to say that God is slow to anger? In the Bible, God’s anger is a just response to human evil, which is motivated by God’s justice and love. In this video, we’ll explore God’s anger and justice in the biblical story and see how it all leads to Jesus.

Yeah thats usually the christian message give give give or sell sell sell. It kind of makes me sick that you are always and I mean all christians are always bringing money into the faith yet god talked about love of money and its evil more then anything. He also talked about hell too which everyone has little balls about. Look again God can do wonders he doesn't need money stop defiling the name of god with begging. DO you not have enough money already with your 70,000 $ a year life and your mountains of tithes. I make a 1000$ a month and I never ask anyone for anything. Peace. Sorry it just makes me kind of upset every time a message of Jesus (give give sell sell) didnt Jesus flail in the temple . I am from Tsawwassen btw and again is gay ok? Im frustrated at polished christians so answer my question would you please.

I started drinking when I was 16. I would drink at parties, but I also started drinking alone because I was unhappy, and I was in a lot of emotional pain all the time. My mom was very aggressive when I was younger, and my brother hated her and so did I. He started hanging out with shady people, he started failing all his classes, he was never home, and my parents fought all the time. I also ran away several times. I was always trying to figure out a reason as to why I was here or what the purpose of life was. So, I started looking at different philosophies, religions, and beliefs. When I was 18 after I was hungover, I got on my knees and I prayed for the first time. I asked if God was real that he would show me he was real because I couldn’t take it anymore. I was crying when I prayed for this. At that moment I felt a presence come over me like a wind. It was barely noticeable, but it was unlike anything in my life I had experienced up until that point. I was surprised when I felt it and I remember saying “what was that?” after that experience I pretty much forgot what happened and kept partying, until my senior year when I got arrested. After my arrest, my parents lost all their trust in me and I was expelled from high school. I was told never to come back to my school. At that time, I felt afraid and hopeless. That’s when I started looking for God, and I prayed that he would reveal himself in my life and that he would give me signs. My prayers began getting answered so consistently that I couldn’t deny that God was doing something. It was mysterious and compelling. I ended up in Church and started reading the bible hours a day. I stopped hanging out with all my other friends because they were continually getting arrested. I was able to forgive my family and myself and to ask to be forgiven. I noticed how at Church people were judgmental and how they formed cliques but were afraid to be around anyone else different from them. It increased my faith because I realized Jesus was not like that and ever since I was young, I saw people as people regardless of who they were. After a while, it’s like I could see God's presence was in my life and then it felt like he wasn’t, and then he was, and then he wasn’t. One day I woke up and felt more depressed than I ever have in my entire life. I felt like I was dying on the inside. That night I prayed, and I said, God, I don’t see my life five years from now I'm going to die Jesus save me Lord, please save me. I was weeping when I said it and when I asked him to save me, I felt a presence inside of me like a heartbeat, and I felt it once like a pulse, and I said Lord please save me and I felt it again even stronger. It was like radiance. When I woke up the next morning, I had transformed everything felt brand new like I was a kid again. All my fears and all my racing thoughts everything was gone. I looked at my hands, and I said this can’t be real, it's impossible. When I looked at myself in the mirror, I saw a different person. I started praying, and the holy spirit became entirely real to me; it was washing over me and inside of me. It was total love and peace, and I heard a voice but not an audible one, it was an inner voice. It said I am with you; I love you, I will never leave you, it’s done it’s finished. That was May 3rd, 2009, and ever since then I’ve followed God, I have seen many things change and many things I know wouldn’t have changed without faith and belief. I know what it’s like to be lost to feel you have no hope. Don’t ever think you’re stuck, or life can’t change because it can. My mom is a Christian now, Its night and day. Some of the things that went away during that period were severe anxiety and my addiction to alcohol. I’ve seen and experienced so many things that are miraculous and seen how God has worked in my life. When we ask God to forgive us for what we’ve done and turn away from our sins and wrongdoings and we believe in Christ's sacrifice everything changes. His word says if we confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that he died and rose again we will have eternal life but not just life after death but abundant life in the present. Our sins are erased not only past, present, and future but our burdens and fears are lifted also. Our thoughts, our minds, our hearts, our souls are transformed and united with God and we know his spirit lives in us. If you seek, pray, and knock you will know JESUS IS KING!!! HE LIVES!

We can understand why Scripture was written and understand HIM. By that fact gets me closer to HIM. Because even with unbelievers, I can see how true an real HE is. Is in THE BOOK.

Yes indeed Eric! This is particularly true of atheists. They can’t reconcile a loving God with the evil of mankind. Yet they also believe Him to be a violent megalomaniac at worst or a useless and impotent fraud at best. Which is which?
If one wants to reject the divine and place faith in humanity, there can be no reasonable empirical conclusion, other than believing mankind evolved to be evil. We have proven we cannot be trusted to be good and civil.
If one wants to accept the divine, then one must accept the consequences of sin, even if it seems so brutally barbaric to our modern sensitivities.

@@summersoda725 In the old texts God was relatively easy to anger, and I assume He realized that all of humankind was very flawed and thus needed work to be refined, after all, even His chosen tribe of Israelites 'caused Him headache'.
What His idea was to flood the whole world and kill nearly everything can be debated, almost as if God had too high expectations and then got upset and 'poured the baby out with the bathwater'. Those old stories make God look quite ... human, which would match to some degree the concept of humans shaped in His own image. He made beings of less refinement than Himself and then saw that they struggled with the responsibility of free will, i.e. the creator power.

patient... PLEASE READ CAREFULLY: Jesus himself use this Psalms to prove he is the son of the Most High. Psalms 82 God takes his place in the divine assembly; In the middle of the gods he judges. 6 “I have said, ‘You are gods, All of you are sons of the Most High.
Who will give the Throne to Jesus?
      - Luke 1:31..named him Jesus 32 This one will be great and will be called Son of the Most High, and "Jehovah God (LORD God The Father)"" WILL GIVE HIM the throne of David his father,
      - John 10: The Jews said.. but for blasphemy; for you, although being a man, make yourself a god.” 34 Jesus answered them: “Is it not written in your Law, ‘I said: “You are gods”’? 35 IF HE(Jehovah) CALLED 'GODS' those against whom the word of God came-and yet the scripture cannot be nullified- 36 do you say to me WHOM THE FATHER SANCTIFIED AND 'SENT' INTO THE WORLD... ‘You blaspheme,’ because I said...‘I am God’s Son’?

Well, except when he wants revenge. Read in Joshua when one soldier kept a coat and some loose change after they killed all the men , women, and babies in the City of Ai. God was really passed. He had Joshua question all 40,000 soldiers to find out who kept Gods shit. After the culprit confessed, God told Joshua to stone him and all his innocent family. What a rational God, eh? God just loves killing babies. Joshua spent his whole time committing genocide against the inhabitants in the “promised land”. They did nothing wrong, but were just living in the wrong place. Gods judgements have nothing to do with morality. He strips all vestige of free thought simply requiring Joshua to kill, kill, kill. I mean, Moses couldn’t enter the promised land for one or two little mistakes. Yet Joshua goes in killing every living thing in sight and plundering all. Scripture is full of these contradictions, but theists continue in their faith, giving up all semblance of rationale and morality, peace, and brotherhood. Incredible!!!

In the Bible, we read that God gets angry. But why? And what is it that makes God angry?
The first time God gets angry in the Bible is not in the garden of Eden, or in the flood story, or even in the ruin of Sodom and Gomorrah. God’s first display of anger is with Moses at the burning bush (see Exodus 4:14). This is significant because it shows that God’s acts of justice against human evil are not always connected with divine anger. Rather, God’s anger is most consistently expressed against his covenant people Israel, precisely because they were entrusted with the responsibility of representing God to the nations (see Exodus 19:1-6).
In the Bible, God gets most angry with the people in whom he’s made the greatest relational investment. Also, God’s anger is not a primary character trait. God’s anger is a response to human betrayal and evil, and it’s rooted in God’s justice and love-two key components of God’s very nature. To be angry at violent evil and let that anger motivate the pursuit of justice and restoration, these are good things. And that’s precisely what God is up to in the Bible. His “slow anger” means that he allows people lots of time to change. Pharaoh got ten chances in Exodus, and Moses objected five times to God’s request before there was any anger (see Exodus 3-4).
The apostle Paul summarizes this Old Testament message well when he says that God is “rich in kindness and tolerance and slow-anger,” and it’s “the kindness of God that leads us to turn around” (Romans 2:4). It’s this tension between God’s patience, justice, and love that drives the biblical story forward to Jesus. In his life, death, and resurrection, we see God’s love and justice meet together to overcome evil and unleash the power of divine forgiveness and love into the world. All of this and more is packed into the biblical idea that God is slow to anger.

I am so grateful for God's compassion and His willingness to work with me, the chief of sinners. He should have abandoned me long ago, as I blasphemed His good name, and persecuted His children for their faith. One day, I found myself sitting in a jail cell, facing 30 yrs in prison. I had no fight left. No more blasphemes. I begged God to forgive my utter selfishness, and disbelief. I truly meant the words that I was speaking, and God responded right away. It's been 3.5 yrs now, and my life is unrecognizable from the awful man that I used to be. I am healed and whole through my Savior, Jesus Christ!! I am still facing 20 yrs and I am going to plead guilty in 2 days time. I am quite nervous about it, because my earthly judge could give me all 20 of those years if she so chooses. I won't know until the very day I get sentenced. Please pray for me and my family, as losing me would be very hard on them. I will just continue to trust in my Holy Father because I know that He does ALL things well. God bless you (The reader), and also The Bible Project for making such uplifting content for my heart. This seems to imply that God doesn't punish people; that He just lets them go about their business and they punish themselves.
But in the Exodus story, Pharaoh and his men don't drown in the Red Sea because of the repercussions of their own actions, but of God's; He split the waters to allow the Israelites to cross and then closed the waters over the Egyptians. Yes, it's a mirror of their own evil turned on themselves, but it's NOT a passive punishment from God.
The killing of Jesus on the cross was a very active punishment (in the place of the people) rather than a passive one. The repeated turning of the Babylonians and other nations on the Israelites after the Israelites turned to other gods was somehting God said He SENT or allowed.
Isn't it dangerous to start painting God's anger (or wrath, as the bible frequently calls it) as something passive?
When a parent punishes their child in discipline, it has always been an act of punishment (taking away the xbox, or denied permission to go and see friends, or having to do extra chores). A BAD parent would punish their children by just saying 'One day, your actions will come back and punish you on their own,' and then doing nothing.
By pacifying the wrath of God, it denies the full strength of what Christ actually underwent - the full, active, and wrathful punishment of God, so that we did not have to suffer the same.

It’s not passive. It’s punishment. Is it passive to sentence a thief in court to jail? No. That is the natural consequence of stealing. God punished Pharaoh by drowning him the natural result of chasing the Israelites. Our actions cause punishment those punishments being the consequences of our actions. I’m not sure where you are getting passive from.

That might be an aspect of it. I would say that the bigger reason for the metaphors like that is to clue people in to the allegories. It is love poetry, but it is also love poetry talking about God's relationship to Israel/Jerusalem. The lovers are described with city imagery to draw a connection to God loving Zion/Jerusalem/the people of God. There is still regular love poetry on the literal level, but the allegorical level gives good reason for the odd imagery in places

“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,”
    ‭‭
    -Romans‬ ‭1:18
Gods wrath is not against people. People are made in His image, God loves people. Gods wrath is not against people. Gods wrath is against unrighteousness and ungodliness of men.
So what God hates is the thing that kills people. God doesn’t hate people. Gods wrath isn’t against people. Gods wrath is the thing that hurts people, that’s kills people, that deceives people, that enslaves people, that ensnares people, that puts people under a spell, that’s the thing that Gods wrath is against. Because God knows you need to get rid of that sin because that’s what’s going to kill you.
Gods love is for people. Gods love is oriented towards people. Jesus is motivated by love, He’s motivated by self sacrifice, He’s motivated by service. He’s motivated by people, He loves people.
He hates the sin, but loves the sinner.

Trinity is the story of a son(Trinitarian Christians) that was raised thinking his father Mr. Roman(Rome) Trinity was his real father but the kid was kidnap by him, the son doesn’t know his real father has been looking for him since he lost him, one day his real father found his son and said: Son, I finally found you, I Love You. But the son walked away not knowing he was his real father.... John 14:31 Jesus said: BUT FOR THE WORLD TO KNOW THAT I LOVE THE FATHER, I AM DOING JUST AS THE FATHER HAS COMMADED ME TO DO. Get up, let us go from here.
John 20:17 Jesus said to her: “Stop clinging to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to MY FATHER and your Father and to MY GOD and your God.

@@ETBrothers My pleasure brother/sister. Who sent Jesus to earth? John 5: 24 Jesus said: Most truly I say to you, whoever "hears my word" and BELIEVES THE ONE WHO SENT ME(The Father) has everlasting life, and he DOES NOT come into judgment but has passed over from death to life.
26 For just as the Father has life in himself, so HE HAS GRANTED ALSO the Son to have life in himself. (The father is alive, and gave Jesus life)
Romans 10:9 For if you publicly declare with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, AND EXERCISE FAITH IN YOUR HEART THAT GOD RAISED HIM UP FROM THE DEAD, you will be saved.. (If you believe God The Father resurrected Jesus, you'll find the straight path for salvation)
Who raised Jesus up from the dead and give him glory? Acts 3:13 The God of Abraham and of Isaac and of Jacob, the God of our forefathers, has glorified his Servant, Jesus, whom you handed over and disowned before Pilate, even though he had decided to release him. 15 whereas you killed the Chief Agent of life. But God RAISED HIM UP from the dead, of which fact we are witnesses.

How does God not have a nose if he has hands to make things and write things, and we’re made in the image of God, and he breathed into the nostrils of Adam. The Bible clearly talks about the sweet savor of incense and delighted in the smells of sacrifice.
Exodus and the book of David even speak of his nostrils

Brilliant! I'm so thankful for you all and your ministry. I never associated the drowning of Pharaoh and his army with just retribution for his earlier order to drown the Hebrew male babies. It perfectly illustrates the principle Paul states in Galatians 6:7, "Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap."
May God continue to bless your service to His kingdom, and greatly multiply the fruit of what you are sowing in faithfulness and creativity.

These videos are great to watch before bed. I absolutely love ending my day with God ruling my thoughts and these vidoes are usually a foolproof way to make that happen.
The narrator's voice is soft enough and the audio is mixed well enough that during the day it's interesting and educational, but for night time purposes it can still be relaxing and mesmerizing while maintaining the educational part.
Y'all have done a great job finding and using this formula! And if you don't think you deserve credit for it, then I'll accept that the Holy Spirit gave you this great medium to share God's truth.

Sounds like the same Excuses that an Abusive Spouse (or parents) use to explain why they beat their Spouse (kids). It's the Spouse's/kids fault! It's never the Abusers fault...
But that "god" is claimed to be All Knowing and All Loving. If that were true, it would think of better ways to respond to things instead of Anger/Rage by KILLING OFF everything on Earth during the Flood! If he cannot think of better ways to deal with things than Murder, and making people Suffer, then it is NOT All Knowing and All Loving. We know certain things cannot co-exist. Question is, why do believers expect so little of this claimed All Everything god? Why do they expect more from us mere Humans!??
This is Stockholm Syndrome and Battered Wife Syndrome taken to a whole new level.

He destroys evildoers: WOW WHAT KIND OF GOD IS HE!
