Too many of such incidence of MRT breakdowns or track faults or damages. Too little is being done to prevent or reduce the chances of it happening like scheduled preventive maintenance. Learn from other countries like Japan and Hong Kong how they manage their rail system. Maybe they should conduct a training tour for the engineers and senior team leadership in SMRT, go to Japan and Hong Kong and learn from them. Tracks or trains used for a long time, there is bound to be wear and tear and replacements need to be done for such and not wait until now. Problem is does SMRT want to spend the money on such maintenance, if you need to pass these costs to the commuters, so be it. As least the commuters know that they are paying for a reliable train ride.
While we definitely should give thanks and appreciate the current recovery works in progress. More important soul searching question remains that why the routine inspection/maintenance can lead to such deterioration not being detected?????

Even if he is not able to see from the front, there must be an obvious resistance than usual during the journey of the towing given the number of cracks it has made on those heavy metal rail tracks. Can SMRT please investigate the root cause starting from the employee who did the towing and give us an explanation?

Looks like there's no proper SOP in place for such a situation. We're not the first to operate such trains. If we don't know how to innovate at the very least we must learn to emulate. Copy from another country's SOP or during construction of the tracks have the contractors provide the procedures for track replacement, etc. Also, line up supporting subcontractors for such eventuality. You have to work smart so as to reduce the pain for everyone. Getting high pay means putting in much more effort. The present situation reflected many deficiencies in the SMRT. What a shame indeed after so many years of operation & no one understands what Murphy's Law is all about.😂.

The real fault lies with the railway initial design. It should not be a single track (to-fro) system, but instead should be a duel track system, i.e. one active track for commuters transport while another track for weekly or monthly track inspection and repairs. Alternate switches in between. Only this way will ensure that the entire tracks system to remain operational. That is my suggestion. I think SMRT should seriously adopt duel track system idea to lessen these unnecessary train disruptions.

The lack of efficiency cost serious breakdown and led to insecurity and safety of the commuters. The authority also responsible to safeguard the safety and security of the commuters and in this aspect action must take against the officer who failed in his responsibility. This also ensure that all minister and officers failed in their responsibility must face the penalty of the law to prevent favoritism and that iron bowl does not persist in the government.

Looks like there's no proper SOP in place for such a situation. We're not the first to operate such trains. If we don't know how to innovate at the very least we must learn to emulate. Copy from another country's SOP or during construction of the tracks have the contractors provide the procedures for track replacement, etc. Also, line up supporting subcontractors for such eventuality. You have to work smart so as to reduce the pain for everyone. Getting high pay means putting in much more effort. The present situation reflected many deficiencies in the SMRT. What a shame indeed after so many years of operation & no one understands what Murphy's Law is all about.😂.

The real fault lies with the railway initial design. It should not be a single track (to-fro) system, but instead should be a duel track system, i.e. one active track for commuters transport while another track for weekly or monthly track inspection and repairs. Alternate switches in between. Only this way will ensure that the entire tracks system to remain operational. That is my suggestion. I think SMRT should seriously adopt duel track system idea to lessen these unnecessary train disruptions.
Collecting millions of dollar paycheck to just talk and apologize while hard work done by workers who were paid peanuts and transport fares are not reduce but may increase again.

Who is going to bear for the repair cost?
1. If its public then we will be prepared for another 10 to 20 yrs fare increase to cover the cost. Is it right to pass repair cost for public to bear while SMRT staff high & indecent wages.
2. Is the whole of SMRT Top, Snr & Middle mgt from Supervisors right up to top mgt getting wage & bonus freeze inclusive of AWS? Too complacent.
3. SMRT Mgt needs to be replaced. Getting retired army team with indecent salary is the end result. Those Top, Snr & Middle mgt must be totally replaced with expert team that can lead the company. The whole organisation from Train to Buses need to be replaced especially the mgt adopts the policy of finding scape goats to answer. Lower rank are suckers to answer for their mgrs & above. Mgrs & above got no responsibility. Deep seated culture issues can never be cured.
4. Time for Transport Minister to revive early closure & late opening FOC on shuttle buses with SMRT bearing the full cost.
5. Whole SMRT mgt is a disease & must be replaced immediately. Now the waiting time for buses is 20 mins to support this mess. Shame on them & the ruling party

Is it easy to get those spare parts within such a short time. For years, i have observed from my window between 1am to 3am, workers checking the railway tracks. I always wonder whether can they see any thing in the dark with the help of a few small lamps.

The lack of efficiency cost serious breakdown and led to insecurity and safety of the commuters. The authority also responsible to safeguard the safety and security of the commuters and in this aspect action must take against the officer who failed in his responsibility. This also ensure that all minister and officers failed in their responsibility must face the penalty of the law to prevent favoritism and that iron bowl does not persist in the government.
