- The Balch was designed for and named after the great Bob Balch of Fu Manchu. It's a nasty gated fuzz aimed to recreate Bob using two fuzzes and adjusting the bias on one to force a whisper quiet gate. This thing is a gnarly fuzz, pure and simple. If you're looking for something that is gonna clean up with your volume knob, look elsewhere. This is a sludge fuzz, perfect for all of your stoner rock needs. Nice work Brad and Bob!

Great demo and great pedal. I own a creepy fingers creepy face germanium fuzz it is my favourte fuzz pedal and it sounds like glass when you roll the volume knob on the left. I keep it in a closet, only use it a few times every year

What amp are you using on this?
i was using a VHT D-50H that i had in to demo. couldn’t state it in the video cuz the amp wasn’t public yet. 😁
@@DemosInTheDark A friend just pointed me out you answered to Colin Egan further down in the comments you used a 50watt fuchs ods... I'm now a bit confused...
What amp are you using here? I find that the balch is a bit touchy with how your amp is setup. Like if I cut the bass it gets all sputtery and weird. A super interesting pedal, thing sounds like it’s trying to tear your speakers apart!
it was a 50watt fuchs ods. i spent a bit of time with it trying to wrap my head around it. i’m pretty sure i still haven’t. 😂
Demos In The Dark ya this thing is nuts! I got mine direct from Bob today, he was nice enough to drop it off directly since we live near one another. I find it odd that it sputters out if you goose the front end of the pedal with a boost or overdrive. It seems to like being the only pedal turned on at any given time, although I find a compressor in front of it sounds good. I’m wondering if I can open it up and adjust the bias to get more sounds out of it

Try the Carbon battery, and the Sag control on your Iso Brick , if you got one.It all matters ~a lot
it sounds killer, but then does that mean its gonna be trash with a strat ?
that one was a loaner, so i don't have it anymore and it's been a spell, BUT i am a strat guy and i remember the pickups not being strong enough to push the pedal into the sweet spot.
