“Knob Wood” - just priceless.
I don't think it's ever going to go away now 😂
@@MadeofThings I agree !!!
How he kept a straight face when he said that I'll never know.
I’ve switched all of my knobs out for only the rarest maple ones.
They’re only harvested once every 5 years, under a waning gibbous moon. 🌚
*Almost forgot...yes, they are priceless...I don’t think _anyone_ would put a price on them. 😀
So much ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love your knob wood.
Man. Firebird with the Tonebender is just righteous.
GO PACK GO!!!!
I totally agree. That was my favorite for sure.
I've been dying to build that sound. It's in Rhett's hands and those older mini's. What an amazing combo.
So now I have to get not only new pedal, but also new guitar damn ...
Dont forget the Deco
I'm surprised that Josh even had to mention that the knobs are made from knobwood because you'd have to be deaf to not immediately recognize the distinct character that it imparts to the signal. It's great that the knobs are raised and harvested organically, but what was the NAME of the knobwood tree that the Crimson tone knob was harvested from? And is there a bird on it? I am far from convinced (snnniiifff)!
"Knobwood" makes Brits blush
@@iggydeohgee No it doesn't. We have standards in profanity which Americans will never grasp.
Stavros Papadimitriou “bang on” - Oooer titter Matron
Laughs in tonewood
It does have a unique timbre
Josh is a genius and has such a hilarious personality. It makes it so much easier to spend money when the recipient is cool and NOT a douche.
100%... and he doesn't over-push his own stuff. I enjoy his posts.
*cough* *cough* Rob Chapman*cough* *cough*
One just want to buy pedal from people like Josh, or Jamie Stillman, Brian Wampler just purely for how nice and funny those people are.
.....someone in mind ?.
You might want to do a google search before you say tha... all that shines is not gold my friend
JHS offered me a job right out of highschool, one year before they got big. I regret everything
they're hiring a builder right now
Big oof

I bought a Big Muff clone after watching a bunch of your videos and listening to players like Stu G and Dan Auerbach. I started to realize that a lot of classic sounds that I love were fuzz instead of overdrive or distortion. Also fuzz is surprisingly versatile depending on what kind of signal you cascade it into.
So you converted one person. :)
Title: “they should’ve done this years ago”
1960’s & 70’s: Am I a joke too you?
Lol
lmao
Think by “they” he meant JHS. Sorry i killed the joke i know
Whooooooo mercy, i'm gonna need me that Supreme in my life!
Dude it’s so good!
i opened my browser in the moment you and all the other gear guys uploaded the reviews for these and it was just amazing to see all these videos come out at the same time like a wind of information blowing in my face. thank you for being such a huge information source for me and for many others, you, jhs, livingroom demos, and the many people that are continiously providing content are the reason i and many others are finding our own sound and developing a whole new generation of musicians that know their gear and understand sound much more than ever
I'd probably still watch JHS videos even if I had no interest in guitar. He is so funny.
Seriously though. His laid back joking is so hilarious. I hardly ever care about the pedals and just like his videos for his sparking personality 😂
I watch Josh's videos all the time and I play keyboards
90% of youtubers who say, "click here" and point over there shoulder never put the link there. Real stats
You’re right, I ALWAYS forget. It’s a character flaw
@@RhettShull lol
I have never ever EVER come across such behaviour ....where did you get your stats from? CNN? lol!
@@evansteidtman962 Clowns are considered funny usually....but you're right it isn't funny....it's tragic....
Thank you for the Floyd lick. It’s one of my favorites.
Thanks for the great videos during my difficult time with cancer and chemotherapy I get lost in playing guitar and watching your videos thanks
Rhett, you are always an amazing guitarist, and yet when you hit that fuzz, you’re playing is even further elevated, more inspired and inspiring! Thank you!
Josh: How many legendary Fuzzes do you want?
Rhett: YES
BALL AND BISCUIT MY MAAAAAAN. Mental track.
“Ruin your pedal, bro. I dont care. Knobwood” -JHS
I’m such a fan of yours, man. You have an exceptional ability to understand guitar tone and how to achieve it. It’s not an easy thing. So many guitar players really struggle to understand how to carve out their sound.
DEFINITELY, the best demo of these four pedals so far! I watched the Josh (JHS) and the Andy (from Reverb) videos and you can tell how important a player's touch is to tone and their personal dynamics effect the pedals. THANK YOU RHETT!
@ 5:10 LMFAO!! 'Ummmm I sourced those organically from a knob farmer'. Farking funny bugger is Josh - so good 👍🏼 😄 😀
“The cork snifferist of cork sniffing” best line ever! Also those pedals are killer!!
I was about to make the same comment... agreed!
Bender + Firebird ... thats the sound for I started with guitar in first place ... Just WOW
The thing I love about fuzz is how it makes everything so powerful and thick
So stoked you mentioned the knob placement! I commented that on the JHS video and got torn a new one by the JHS community lol. But yeah, can't imagine one of these on my tight pedal board and actually be able to adjust settings mid gig.
I used to think I didn’t like fuzz and would never use as a guitarist, but I think since watching the JHS Show and your show in the last two years my opinion has definitely changed having learnt much more from both channels, now I think I’m a fuzz addict, now I love my fuzz and have to stop myself using to frequently and using my other overdrives or distortions, but yep I definitely think I was missing out not using fuzz before as I find it really creative now, I think learning about the history more from Josh has really taught me much more about it and how and how to use it musically and not just thinking it was an over the top effect. Thanks to Josh and also yourself Rhett for providing me with much more knowledge and being able to making a much more informed decision. Thanks Steve
He hates Germanium Transistors a lot, they're difficult to find, they're not abailable, that's the reazon he tells the people "don't say germanium is better" getting silicon transistors is easy and it coast around $0.15 each. The Smiley(fuzzface) uses 2, the other Bender uses 3, but a set of three germanium transistors for that pedal may cost $30! So, when Josh says "don't buy it only because it uses germanium" he is hating the pedal makers that use germanium transistors because they sound great, everybody from 40 to 60 knows this perfectly.
I LOVE Josh’s humour, it’s right up my alley. And I guess it’s the same for you since you included it in the video 😂❤
Well to start off I wanted to tell you Rhett that YOU have made me love and get into FUZZ. Before this video I wasn’t even considering it but I like your tone and the way Fuzz sounds on every video you have it in. Thanks. As for Josh from JHS. Outstanding series, you got something amazing here....to finish it off. I just got myself EHX Green Russian Big Muff Pi Fuzz. Awesome video too Rhett!
KNOB WOOD !!! that man is pure genius
Supreme, awsome. I so want one. I've wanted a univox Superfuzz for years but the price, omg. Chances I will buy one... 110%
I'm into that Fu Manchu vibe. Can't wait for them to land here in the UK.
Love the JHS pedals and been a subscriber of his channel for years too. Informative and funny, super cool guy.
Great stuff Rhett, you're a hell of a good player sir! Cheers :)
These are awesome. The ability to have the iconic tones of classic pedals at a fair price! Great for the working players board!
I like Paul Gilbert's idea about fixing the issue of moving knobs or lost adjustments... he puts rubber o rings under the knob which gives resistance to being bumped around
Or just use peace potis ✌️
Totally agree! Josh at JHS has a great channel with so much info on pedals. Plus, his sense of humor is nicely understated. :)
Great video I definitely have fuzz in my ears now!!
Rhett I love your tone
Haha Josh is hilarious “I use knob wood”
Josh Scott is awesome! Such an inspiration to me.
As per usual, very well done video. The music is indicative of the various fuzz sounds and your opinion is valued and duly noted.
Tones are amazing! Killer Demo Rhett!
Way cool, Rhett. Thank you very much for showcasing these - I really dig the vintage sounds, and the whole idea of bringing this stuff back to the masses. Cheers, dude!!
What a great birthday present Rhett thank you, All of those fuzzes sounded AMAZING.
I see a lot of people struggle with the Bender and I'm not sure why. I think it's really easy to dial in a sound and it cleans up nicely on the volume knob too
I looove these. I already have a fy6, a fuzz face clone, and a big muff pi copy. I will be digging into those tomorrow. Its 2:15 a.m. now, so gotta wait.
That intro was killer.
Holy Christ that Intro song is awesome Rhett!!!! And even more awesome you are checking out JHS pedals I'm a big fan of Josh and his channel. And actually you and Josh has changed my mind and are about to start checking out Fuzz pedals again.
Knobs should really have a ramped indicator painted around them.
Was that Ball and Biscuit? My god, that tone is nasty. I love it.
After seeing your British video, I’m drooling and dreaming with that nasty Tone Bender Mark IV. That’s like the sounds of our ancestors!
I have beeeeeen waiting for a tone bender fuzz replica. I was considering the park fuzz but this has now changed my mind
Well-played Black Keys and White Stripes, Rhett!
Fuzz pedals are so cool! Sound awesome very much here. Great showcase!
Dude when you played the Gilmour solo I was like YEAHH!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Camilo!
As a died in the wool Englishman, i have to state as a categorical fact that Josh is the best person to ever have existed.
Knob gags will never, ever get old.
Remind me if i forget that the very next pedal i buy is a JHS :D
Man I bought a Sola Sound Tonebender like within a couple weeks of your video. It’s amazing sounding in person through my vintage amp! First time ever using a fuzz pedal. Hate I waited so long to incorporate it into my sound.
Excellent Video 👍👍👍.
Amazing Pedals, Brilliant playing, thank you.
Take care,
Melbourne, Australia.
These pedals are BRILLIANT!
Great video.
Killer Intro!
That opening track was so damn good, brother!
You killed that intro tune! Golden touch...and ear.
Rhett I never really saw use for a fuzz pedal until I saw some of your videos. I really do like the JHS Bender and because of you I am getting one and trying it out!
Bought a Supreme today because of this video. Thanks, dude
No...they look great...Rhett you be awesome son.What a find.
EZ knob fix - put a single line mark at top edge of box for each knob. Install a numbered on side knob marked 1 to 10.. You're welcomed.. I expect a large royalty check for the idea! LOL Josh's vid was standard Josh hilarious!
Love jhs pedals and your chanel..
Man, I’m so torn between the Bender and the Supreme. Either way one of them is coming to the house.
clayton franklin why not both, cut a few yards😜
Got the Bender. But if I didnt have an Isle of Tone Haze 67 (best fuzz pedal in the market) coming my way I would have gotten the Supreme too.
I’m getting the supreme just because I don’t own an octafuzz... that’s what I’m telling myself
The intro alone deserved its own thumbs up! And unsurprisingly, all four demos sounded ace too. But! The Bender with the Strymon Deco just stumped me, it's a *killer* tone. Cheers
Rhett you sure know how to squeeze the best sounds out of a fuzz pedal. I want them all!
I love Josh’s videos and humor. Great video thank you. Just what I need . More fuzz pedals🤪🤪
Josh is great. You did really well too, man. Thanks
Best intro in a video so far class rhett
I'm hooked on that Smiley. That's got a gnarly bite to it. Also that strymon is a beaut. Thanks for the vid mate.
my dad brought me a silver/grey Sola Sound Tone Bender from London, early 70's, when living in South Africa. It go lost in time but I recall loving it... everybody wanted one, I had it :)
Great video Rhett !
Aewsome intro. That lead was so cool. Sound was awesome too!
I love fuzz too. I grew up in the 60's and fell in love with that 60's fuzz sound. Love your channel, found you via Rick Beato.
It's been too long man! As someone who truly enjoys your musical intros....it's been too long. Thanks for the inspiration and as always, another great and informative vid. Looking forward to seeing you live. Keep it up, man.
I watch your videos for the opening jams. So good!
Great vibes on that intro song Rhett! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Killer presentation of the fuzzes and their sound and application. This got me seriously interested in fuzz again.
Taste all vintage pedals with the correct germanium design stuff, you will appreciate the guitar's volume cleans up a lot. The 3 knob tonebender need a lot the 3 germanium transistor and the Ge diode, Fuzzface with germanium transistors is like to be in heaven!!, it's a browner sound. I don't recommend de JHS silicon versions. Regards
That Mark I pedal is the SHIT! Seriously. Watching you over the past couple of years has DEFINITELY has help put gas on my Fuzz obsession fire. I just bought the Jesse Davies, King Tone Mini Fuzz Ge, which I must say is the BOMB! So, my Fuzz budget is blown for a while, but the Supreme will be mine SOON! Sounded so good with your Nova, damn!
Going to watch this post again, cause the jams were so sweet with Honey dripping FUZZ!!!!!!!
Holy sh*t, the harmonics on that Crimson...
Where my knobwood people at?
@@rikkousa I second that!
I know you can’t see me but I have my hands in the air and I’m waving them like I just don’t care.
Knobwood Gang!! Whoop! Whoop!!
Great job Rhett.
Josh already came out with his MkIII Tone Bender couple of times. First the right side of the pedal Bunrunner then his Firefly Fuzz. AFAIK. Great video by the way, thanks Rhett.
Dude, the intro is fantastic !!!!! really cool (y)
Fuzz trivia: most of Jimi's Fuzz Faces actually contained Roger Mayer's Octavio fuzz circuit, modded to remove the octave part. I have an Octavio and recently did the mod. I also have a silicon JH "replica" Fuzz Face. I love both, but I think the modded Octavio actually sounds closer to Jimi's fuzz tone.
As I understand it, Jimi just really liked how the enclosure looked. Roger Mayer did most of his fuzz tones, he only used it stock for a short time. Even still, the fuzz face sounds damn cool.
Sniffs cork!
@@EpicStuffMan1000 Mayer says he didn't have the metalwork facilities to produce enclosures, but - thanks to Jimi - he DID have a pile of Fuzz Face cases...
@@PeteCarlton lol. It smells righteous. Here, have a sniff (passes cork). ;)
@@fishypaw Nah, pass it on!
Brilliant video, such a great production and that single cut Novo, wow!
That intro! Your playing with fuzz is insane!
Great review, complementing the intro video from Josh and the Reverb one. Your video shows a much more musical side of these, as I'd use them. Especially as a fuzz avoided, it makes me want a Bender.
I agree with you, Rhett, on 3 of the 4 being good first fuzz pedals. Thanks for this great video!
Your fuzz journey got me really interested in octave fuzz, but ultimately it came down to the fact that I really just like an octave effect into a driven sound in general.
Hey Rhett, people subscribe to your channel because they like you for what you are, not what they want you to be. Keep being yourself and making videos! Love your content.
Love the demos. Definitely helps in deciding which to get!
LOVE these pedals!!! My favorite is the Bender with the Crimson in a VERY close second!
There’s just something about a tone bender circuit that warms my soul every time I hear it. Still amazed he got the “germanium sound” from silicon transistors.
Deyum! These series is oozing with much vintage vibe!🔥🔥🔥
5:30 haunting mid knob. Knob wood is Morningwood the hardest wood known to man. Endless sustain. Well ok a few minutes
Morningwood is the best knobwood/tone wood.
Love my jhs pedals
Im a convert bought the MK1 after your video love it
