That is exactly what I thought when I saw the photo. “Oh, nice family pic.”
The photo was posted to the family’s social media account and the media lifted it-then complained it wasn’t up to media standards. It was not an official photo issued to the press. It’s a well-wishing message to all mothers on Mothers Day, the bullying of Catherine is ridiculous!
I think that the problem they weren’t receiving money - but I am like you just saw it as a Mother’s Day wish and they took all the meaning out of an innocent family photo imo by why do the associated press have any say on a photo William took 🤷♀️

Dearest River, I would proffer that if AP or Reuters has ever published a single submission from any Kardashian, they they own the Princess of Wales a deep & sincere apology for their extreme, & unwarranted overreaction regarding her photoshopped image, as hardly a single image has ever been published of those women that was NOT photoshopped beyond recognition. I find the fact that they made the rejection SO public & humiliating for the Princess to be a dubious prospect, & can't help but wonder at the motivation behind it.
Hopefully to set a precedent, ie, that the Harkles babies, christening, and other photos of THEIR kids get the same intense scrutinising re, editing and superimposing images from multiple faces. 🙏

California girl here and I'm so disgusted and I feel so upset for Catherine! She has given her life to her husband's family and to the country and she asked for respect while she's recuperating from surgery and the press and media are truly being disgusting. Feeding all these rumors and speculations when they were up front from the start that she had surgery and she would be recuperating. I know I shouldn't make comparisons but considering the photoshopping that Harry's wife has done over the years and the media has never called her out on it when her and her husband treat the media terribly for the most part. Hello, River. 🇨🇦 My daughter and her husband have 6 children. Whenever they have photos taken, they take dozens of photos in the same pose. They then move the children around to make sure they all look their best. I'm fairly certain that everyone does this. Truly, I'm sick of the people who are harassing the Princess of Wales. The Queen was so correct. Never complain; never explain.

Thank you for this insightful video River. I am voting Reform UK because I believe in freedom, and they are the only party that represent my values. I hear so many commentators saying "we pay for the Royal Family and we deserve to know what is wrong with Kate and the King". I call BS on that. If you want to say you pay for them, what you mean I gather is you pay for the service they provide to the country and commonwealth. So you employ them, right. All I saw was a nice picture of a loving mother with her beautiful children.
It is so hard to take a family photo (with or without kids) where everyone has their eyes open, is focusing on the same point, and has a natural facial expression or smile. I bet William took 50 photos in an attempt to capture the moment and there wasn't a single one that was perfect. Catherine's attempt at photoshopping was pretty good. I certainly didn't notice anything amis until it was pointed out to me, and even then I struggled to see the edits.

It was a simple, lovely Family photo. The journalists and professional photographers are just peeved, they were done out of a job. I wish our Princess of Wales continued recovery and hope to see her when SHE is ready.
The original image was posted on the Kensington Palace website, it was not handed out to the press for publication. The integrity of the picture wasn’t expected to meet the standard of the press! The media chose to publish a photo that wasn’t issued to them. End of story!

Time the entire media stopped their ridiculous habit of finding drama where there is none.
We were told Catherine Princess of Wales would be in hospital two weeks and a three month convalescence. So why keep asking where the poor woman is.
I hope none of these so called royal correspondence do not have to have a similar operation if they do they just might understand the importance of convalescence in these circumstances. With many dangers of further injury.

Would not surprise me if some people demand Catherine show her surgical scars once she's in public again.
I can even hear what they'll say: why won't she show it? What is she hiding? And other nonsense.
As someone who has scars from multiple invasive surgeries, I can say those surgeries and the scars that remain affect a person psychologically. And can serve as a reminder of a difficult time where one was vulnerable, sometimes feeling helpless. People who demand to see scars are violating a personal boundary.

Thank you very much River. As far as I'm concerned, Kensington Palace should never have given any more updates, save the one which they gave when the princess was in hospital in January. No one needs to know anything about the Princess's health, but her family and her doctor. I hope when the princess recovers fully she does not give any information to the public about her surgery and what type she did undergo, it's no one's business but her own. I think that the possibility of sour grapes from the media not being informed of the details of Catherine's surgery has fueled the nasty, vile and uncalled for criticism and comments of the tweeking of the the photograph as a mechanism to punish Catherine, and to call her to heel! She should hold her head up and continue with the 'don't complain, don't explain' as you pointed out. Thank you for your wonderful broadcasts - I just love them! Carry on regardless dear River!
It's remarkable how many mysteries GB news can gossip into existence. They've behaved terribly. Worse even than ITV. I feel so sorry for Princess Catherine.
It's not GB News - Nana Akwea has urged the public to be quiet. It's stories by Liz Jones in the DM online, Alexander Larman in the Spectator,etc. but the most vociferous culprits are the vile, insane Sussex supporters on X.
I believe Princess Catherine apologized for anyone being "confused" by the photograph, not for anything else that the public may have misconstrued. That's on them.
She'll be a wonderful Queen one day, but once in a while its ok to have a small reminder that she is a fallible human.
