Tell them Alexis! Nursing school is not impossible. I graduated nursing last year in August and I had a baby halfway through my program and I also had two other small children. I also graduated during a pandemic. You have to be dedicated and organized. But if I could do it, you can too.

@@sherenehilton3134 yes I had a good support system. But I was also very organized. I would plan my day by the hour, I made a study plan where I would study certain topics for a specific day, I would study at least 4 hours every day, I would meal prep dinner on the weekends, and my newborn was a perfect baby. He was very relaxed and would sleep most of the night, so I could get some rest.

I went to nursing school in the 80's and much has changed since then. Academics was the primary skill admissions sought. High SAT scores and mostly A's in all the prereqs. There was a military atmosphere which forced one of the students to cut her eyelashes because they were "too long for a nurse". I had a thirty year career in nursing and encourage others to enter this field.

Thank you for this video. I'm in my last semester of my ABSN program and before starting I kept watching videos that emphasized that nursing school was hard but never really elaborated. Which made me doubt myself and fear school. But you are 100% right, the material isn't necessarily hard, it's all the other things they throw on top of it that makes nursing school difficult. Having to balance lectures, reading, assignments, quizzes, exams, and making sure you're actually retaining all the info is what makes nursing school hard, in my opinion. I hope your video helps relieve some anxiety for those going into nursing school. It's been very validating for me.

Omg yes. I’m 7 months away from graduating with my ADN. I agree it’s difficult from the amount of things that come with it. It’s draining but I know I’ll thank myself later. Thank you for this video ❤️❤️

Thank you for this!! I had a counselor tell me they didn’t think I was smart enough and should consider to change my major I was feeling down because looks like I’ll be passing with a B in A&P and I was feeling down because it’s me 2nd time retaking it but after this video I feel so much motivated again! Thank you for this 💕

I had to retake both A&P 1 and A&P 2. I also felt discouraged but I ended up passing both the second time around. What people say about you doesn’t define who you are!! I respect your hustle and congrats on passing!!👏🏽🎉

I am about to graduate from my BSN program in just a few months and I cannot believe how the time in nursing school has flown by! I want to encourage anyone in the comment who reads this that you CAN do it no matter what anyone says. There will definitely be challenging times and lots of hard work, but try not to listen to all the nursing school rumors out there. You will get through it and Y'ALL GOT THIS! Also fully agree that it is not impossible, it is essential to have a support system, and you do gotta be organized :)

I agree with EVERYTHING in this video. I don’t sugar coat anything you when I tell people about nursing school but I always tell them IT IS POSSIBLE. And that’s funny I had a counselor like that too when I went to college the first time. And the support system thing is what got me through nursing school.

Soooo true. I had 2 C’a and 1 B in my science classes. Never took prerequisites as serious. Was able to get into the program and did better in the classes inside the program than the prerequisites. Which I find crazy because my load was wayyyyyyyy heavier in the program than just taking prerequisites alone.
Thanks for spilling the tea boo. I’ve always loved watching your video. I think you did a video before talking about you had C’s in your prerequisites and still was accepted. That motivated me And boom ya girls a nurse 🎉🎉🎉🙏🏽

  • @Lbryan30

Wow I really needed to hear that especially the part about grades. I earned a B in A&P 1 and 2 and retook both and ended up getting a B again in A&P1 and a C in A&P2. I cried so hard and felt so defeated I couldn't stop thinking maybe this was a sign that I shouldn't be in the nursing field. I wish someone had told me hey if you don't get in this time just reapply because a B is not a failure and you don't need to retake the class. Awesome video!!

Yess!! that 1st response is so true. Counselors and professor either intentionally on unintentionally discourage the student if they see a C or even a B. I had my community college professor discourage me to go into nursing because I was going to get C in her microbio class.
