I got into nursing school a week ago! But for anyone seeing this a while after she posted this like me - a huge piece of advice is to get a job at a hospital before nursing school. So many hospitals have so many unique positions that you dont even need a degree for. I test newborns hearing and because of this I had almost all of my innunizations done, as well as my fiit test. This saved me SO much money because the hospital I worked for paid for it all.
This is sooooooo true. it will help you out more than you know. and when you graduate you will already have that real life experience with patient contact and the transition will be even easier.
Yes I totally agree with being ahead of vaccines and immunizations. Working at the hospital also gives you a huge advantage because you already have somewhat of hospital experience. One of the main reasons how I got accepted. Definitely recommend it. Good luck everybody!
Getting into nursing school was so scary, but here i am now about to finish my second semester! It’s a beast of its own kind, but incredible in so many ways !! ❤️❤️
OMG girl i completely agree! I wish someone had told me how many coins I was going to spend on shots, supplies, books, scrubs, and background checks lol. I know this video is definitely going to help pre-Nursing students be prepared. Thanks for your videos girl!
I failed the math part of the HESI twice, got a tutor and my score went from 30% to a whopping 77% on the math part which helped me get into Hondros. I am so happy. I start tomorrow, October 8th. Blessings to all of you and these videos. So encouraging
Congratulations to all of you that have been accepted into nursing school :) The time really goes by so quickly! I am about to start my second semester it's wild! Good luck, you guys can do it :)
Shania Bucao AHH!!! Nursing TWINNING!! That's cool! See the universe just be out here flexing! Because they say the easiest part is getting in and I was like..Nah..that's just what they say in the movies...But nope...😂 that's real.
I just got my acceptance for Fall 2020 and I would watch all your videos and see people commenting they got in and I just KNEW I would be one of those people one day! You were an inspiration and thank you for your videos! I feel more prepared & EXCITED for my future!
I’ve been watching your videos for years & always thought they were so inspirational. Today I found out that I got accepted into an accelerated program for the fall and I am so excited! Your videos really helped me when I was losing faith in the application process. Thank you for all of your helpful content. Hopefully I’ll still have time to watch your videos once I start the program!
I love this video!! I just got called off the waitlist from UCF’s bsn program.... didn’t even think I’d even have the slightest chance of getting in but God is good!!
I am applying to nursing schools this semester and I totally agree with what you said about getting the background checks and Immunizations and stuff! I am a CNA and I work in a hospital so I went through that process to start my CNA clinical last year, and again to work in a hospital.. in so thankful that I have already gone through that experience because it is SO OVERWHELMING the first time you do it!
so i needed a pretty low level math but you may need a couple to satisfy your school’s credit hours. it’s not as hard as calculus, you’ll usually need something like pre-calc or intermediate algebra. if you want a bachelors, masters, etc you’ll need more credit hours, hence harder classes. hope that helps!
If you do a BSN program, you'll most likely take Statistics, Informatics (which has math but not too much) and you'll have to fulfill lots of dosage calculations which is lots of multiplying fractions and dosages, basically you'll have to know algebra pretty well.
I've been subscribed to your channel for a while now, and I just wanted to say that I appreciate you making all these informative videos about Nursing and Nursing School! Coming across your channel back when you first started helped me to work past the nervousness I was feeling and take the plunge to go for my ASN instead of LPN like I'd originally planned on. Thank you!
I just had my first day of nursing school yesterday and honestly I feel so overwhelmed. She only went over the syllabus but I feel like everyone else knew what she was talking about and I was behind bc I didn’t know all the lingo and what she was talking about yet.
Andrea Rodriguez I’m still in. The information is bearable and the clinicals are great. I learn the most when I’m at the hospitals. But it’s so hard because the exams are impossible. The wording of the questions and the choices sets you up to fail and it’s hard to prepare for that.
I love you channel. I just got acceptance into both of the schools I applied for this week. So now I have to choose. I am also doing a Associates first then RN-BSN dual program. Thanks for all your videos they are truly inspiring.
I am so happy to be part of this sea of comments and say that I got accepted into my big time DREAM nursing program. September feels so close yet so far. Thanks for the awesome content, it's really helpful! edit: I HAD TO PAY $35 FOR MY UGLY LAB JACKET THEY GAVE ME NO CHOICE. UGH I feel you
Hey Alexis, I started watching your videos a few years back when I was first applying to nursing school. I have been rejected twice from the same program and it sucked. Somehow I would keep seeing your posts here and there and your videos because I still wanted to become a nurse and you're always great to watch. Last week I finally got my acceptance letter for the same program, so here I am again watching this video because I'm so excited :') Thank you!
I just got into the nursing program and boy oh boy are the costs already adding up. My school has a specific uniform as well. I also have to catch up on my shots and get a background check. Basically, getting into the program was the easy part lol
I inquired... At a University in southern California #1) checked for G.I. bill eligibility ✅ #2) pass the basic math and reading comprehension entrance exam ✅ #3) meet with Dean of school or head of admissions. ✅ #4) Pay 56.50$ for background and drug screening ✅ #5) turn in DD214 (Honorable discharge) ✅ #6) updated Immunisation and PPD test #7) prepare for uniform/scrubs measuring and issue. #8) orientation for day one of 1st mod (This is the basic way it's been going for me) #8) text books
Quasha Frasier I definitely kept my grades high. I had a B here and there but I’ve always focused on my grades a lot. That’s not to say, however, that not having all A’s won’t get you into the program because that’s not the case!
I’m in college & im still taking my prerequisites but I’m so excited to hopefully become a nurse that’s all I see myself doing since I was a little girl & I hope one day I can experience this amazing journey !!!!
I needed this video!! I'm going into nursing school fall 2018, super nervous about it. But I know I can do it. You really inspire me with all your helpful videos!
This video was so helpful , and I love watching your videos so much . Cause I love how you keep nursing school and all the stuff you have to go through real with us . Ive always wanted to go in the medical , but after watching your channel it has just really confirmed that nursing is what I want to do .
This video came in perfect timing! I just applied to my school's nursing program for several different locations. My grades and all the requirements are met, so now it's just waiting to see what campus I get assigned too! Thanks so much for this video!
Thank you so much for sharing this info lady. I just got accepted into nursing school and had no idea what to expect. This is a great heads up and I appreciate what you do. Keep up the awesome videos!!!😘
I been interested in nursing for about 5 years now and I’m graduating high school in 2020 I been doing so much research, I been seeing videos from experience in nursing school and whatsoever, I’m ready to start a new chapter once I graduate high school☺️
Quick tip: before buying any textbooks look for the PDF online for free. I have yet to buy a book. I will sit on my laptop for hours before I even think about getting a book and most likely if you can’t find the free pdf someone else found it and just airdrop to each other.
I really like your videos. One thing though, you mentioned that MDs often have to do paperwork at home after hours. Before I went to med school I dated an MD through her 3 years in Int Med then 3 years of Dermatology residency, then a couple of years when she was a derm attending and I never saw her do any paperwork at home.
Was literally just talking to someone who got into a nursing program im applying to next year. Great video! This is great information I wish schools websites had more info about this so students can be more prepared when they apply
Darko Shmarko good luck with it! It’s really fun to learn about microorganisms. it’s not super easy but I know I’ll get an A I have AP1 and AP2 after this. But I’m finishing all 3 sciences in 3 months ! Where are you taking your sciences?
How are you able to finish them so quickly? That's ambitious! I took micro back in high school and really liked it but I'm sure at the college level it's going to be a whole different beast, lol. I am in the midwest and took most of my prerequisites when I got my undergrad degree in kinesiology. I worked for a few years and then decided I wanted to go back and get my BSN so I am taking my prereqs at a university that's close to home. Next spring I will be starting nursing school at Goldfarb in STL.
Darko Shmarko what did you do for work with your undergrad degree? Just curious. I’m taking them at an accredited accelerated science university in my area of California. i have a associate degree in criminal justice but decided to switch to nursing/ physics therapy, something like this. I haven’t really decided on one yet. How did you know you wanted to do nursing?
Nicholas Ramirez I was also interested in doing physical therapy but after doing a couple hundred hours of shadowing I realized I hated it. Worked as a personal trainer for a couple years after graduating, then did some legal assisting and decided to make the move to nursing when my mom got sick and I saw how great the nurses were caring for her. I talked to them and they told me how much they loved their job and I decided to take the plunge. It is actually my dream to move to California to work when I graduate! You're so lucky you live there! :)
I just graduated from high school and I’ll be doing some prerequisites classes to enter to the the program. I’m happy. Thanks for the information, I have to start saving money hehe 🙃
I really enjoyed this video!! I got accepted into an ADN program and I start in August. I am currently working on my clinical requirements and I have orientation on June 11th!! I’m excited and nervous☺️
I’m applying to a ABSN program for fall 19 crossing fingers and toes that I get in..have 3 pre reqs to take care of first before I apply..your videos are really a great help!!!!!
I start my program on monday! I've already got a Bachelors in Nutritional Science and I am starting the ADN program. So nervous to get into the material but also trying not to psych myself out. I moved home so I don't have to worry about paying bills or rent and can just focus on the ADN material
LOL I just had my fit test yesterday and I totally thought I was going to have to run on a treadmill or something too 😂 thank you for making all these videos! Love your channel 💛
Apply for the CNA course first. They will have you an exemption application. That's where you will have to go to the court and get the required documents. Three reference letters, and a statement letter ect. Please lookup up CNA exemption application on your states website. You do have to do a CNA program first and have your fingerprints done. They will then reject your application. That's when you will file for an exemption application. The same application is done for the RN BSN programs if you have a criminal record. So it's better to do the CNA first so you know what to expect. It's better than going through a full RN program and not knowing
We didn't do a fit test, but we weren't allowed to care for airborne patients during clinical. Totally wish I would have seen a video like this before I started because I had no idea what to expect, and it was way more than I expected lmao. I ended up spending thousands out of pocket just for immunizations, titers, background check(s), and supplies :( Worth it in the end though!
First of all she is sooooo pretty and so informative I just changed my major to being a nursing major instead of being a biology pre-med major because I started to think about how I could be a nurse practitioner instead of being a doctor cause that was a lot of years and a lot of doctors have to take there work home and I don’t think I could do that
This was so helpful. I got accepted into nursing school for the fall. Thanks so much , your videos are helpful. My orientation is later this month. I'm so excited
What eyeshadow are you wearing? It's so pretty on you! I have one more month of waiting to do until I find out if I'm accepted into the nursing program. I've been binge watching your videos to help pass the time. 😁
Ahhhhh!! Thank you for doing this. I just went to get info on this nursing school yesterday & take my teas test next week and I’ll be starting school either end of this month or in January. This helped a ton!!!
Hey girl heyyy! I need you to make the updated nursing supplies/essentials video that you mentioned you were going to do in this video! I’m about to start buying my stuff because my program starts at the end of August and I would love for your input in what’s good to have! 💛
I want to be a RN , what I decided to do was take a stepping stone though like become a lpn program first then go back to school right after for RN which with both of those it will take 2 years to be a rn by that way and I won’t spend a lot of money
Books are so expensive and no one told me I could get an older edition until I already had them. Also depends on the school but for mine the instructors make their own exams so the book is only supplemental
I love your videos so much girl!! I’m still in the process I’m starting off in a program that starts me off as a cna and works my way up to become an RN .. I was held back a little because I didn’t know about the immunizations 🙄😭
I got into nursing school a week ago! But for anyone seeing this a while after she posted this like me - a huge piece of advice is to get a job at a hospital before nursing school. Jazmine I want to be a midwife, or neonatal nurse.. and work with newborns, so that would be perfect for me!! Thank you so much.
Sorry what is immunizations and fiit test? Just curious
Jazmine totally agree! I just got accepted to OHSU, but I work as a medical scribe! So I had to get all of that stuff done for free as well.
Yes I totally agree with being ahead of vaccines and immunizations. Working at the hospital also gives you a huge advantage because you already have somewhat of hospital experience. One of the main reasons how I got accepted. Definitely recommend it. Good luck everybody!
This was a perfectly timed video because I just got accepted into my dream nursing program today!! 💓
Yay congrats!
t m very happy for you !!!!!

thank you all so much!!

I got accepted into the nursing program. I'm so excited and also terrified. Wish me luck!❤️
Shania Bucao Congratulations!! Same here! You got this! Also....That list of vaccinations is no joke🤣
Paloma, thank you very much! Good luck to both of us.☺️ What school are you going to?☺️
Shania Bucao I am going to be heading into an ADN program in my state for Fall 2018. Omg what about yourself?! 😆are you in BSN program?
Paloma Me too and after I get my ADN degree, I’ll apply for completion to get a BSN degree in Nursing.
Shania Bucao AHH!!! Nursing TWINNING!! That's cool! See the universe just be out here flexing! Because they say the easiest part is getting in and I was like..Nah..that's just what they say in the movies...But nope...😂 that's real.

I love this video!! I just got called off the waitlist from UCF’s bsn program.... didn’t even think I’d even have the slightest chance of getting in but God is good!!

How hard is math in a nursing school? It’s one of my weaknesses but I really don’t want it to stop me from becoming a nurse 👩⚕️

@@OksanaSyzovaV how did you make out with the math?

After waiting for a couple months I got accepted into the nursing program for spring quarter. I’m so happy right now.

I just recently got my acceptance email for the nursing program!! Your videos are always so helpful and encouraging. You make it seem not so scary 😂😘
Monica Whitson did you get all A’s in your classes ? I feel like only people with all A’s get accepted 😭
Quasha Frasier I definitely kept my grades high. I had a B here and there but I’ve always focused on my grades a lot. That’s not to say, however, that not having all A’s won’t get you into the program because that’s not the case!

Quick tip: before buying any textbooks look for the PDF online for free. I have yet to buy a book. I will sit on my laptop for hours before I even think about getting a book and most likely if you can’t find the free pdf someone else found it and just airdrop to each other.

Was literally just talking to someone who got into a nursing program im applying to next year. Great video! This is great information I wish schools websites had more info about this so students can be more prepared when they apply
Omg I just got accepted and I start in January 2020. Thanks for this video.
ill be applying to nursing school at the end of august this year ! im in microbiology right now hopping to get an A :/
Nicholas Ramirez I am taking micro this summer! It’s my last prerequisite

Thank you for your videos! They’re so informational! I was just accepted into nursing school and I’m excited and nervous! 😊
Yes please do a supplies video! Can you also include supplies needed for a CNA course? I’m taking one in June
I just got my acceptance to nursing school this week! Best way to start holidays thanks for the video ❤️❤️❤️
I just graduated from high school and I’ll be doing some prerequisites classes to enter to the the program. I’m happy.
Thanks for the information, I have to start saving money hehe 🙃
•Argo Cosmic•
Is the prerequisite classes at the same college your going to take the program?
Just enrolled in a nursing school and am excited
I really enjoyed this video!! I got accepted into an ADN program and I start in August. I am currently working on my clinical requirements and I have orientation on June 11th!! I’m excited and nervous☺️
I’m applying to a ABSN program for fall 19 crossing fingers and toes that I get in..have 3 pre reqs to take care of first before I apply..your videos are really a great help!!!!!
Can you do a video talking about vaccines and what each is for and their backup schedule?
it varies for different universities, but i know the flu shot, MMR shot, DTB shot, and Hep B shots are pretty standard
Rebeca Pirela ty
Im glad ur talking about this, because people on youtube dont.
Could you do a video on all the supplies you used in nursing school?
All of your videos are amazing‼️ You give me so much hope on my nursing journey‼️‼️‼️
You are gorgeous!! Im a senior in highschool and i want to be an RN! Im looking into it now
I just got accepted into a Texas BSN program:)!!
Thank you! I just got accepted so this came at the perfect time 🤗
You should do a video about anatomy and physiology. Im currently taking the class online and struggling so much!
I am 21 and i'm reallyyy interested in nursing but also discouraged because of a DUI I got when i was 18 and a DV chargee (property damage) :((
Apply for the CNA course first.
I can't stop watching you videos!! Thank you so much for making these!!!
I just got accepted into the Pre-Nursing Program at CSULA and I needed this video. 💛 Thank You So Much!! 🤞🏽
- New Subbie 👌🏽
We didn't do a fit test, but we weren't allowed to care for airborne patients during clinical. Totally wish I would have seen a video like this before I started because I had no idea what to expect, and it was way more than I expected lmao. I ended up spending thousands out of pocket just for immunizations, titers, background check(s), and supplies :( Worth it in the end though!
Lipstick and Scrubs same here. Our school won't give us those patients and we never did fit testing for school
Your great I been watching all of your videos cause I’m now starting my journey in the medical field hopefully I build a great career 🤞
First of all she is sooooo pretty and so informative I just changed my major to being a nursing major instead of being a biology pre-med major because I started to think about how I could be a nurse practitioner instead of being a doctor cause that was a lot of years and a lot of doctors have to take there work home and I don’t think I could do that
Very helpful! I'll be applying in August and it's nice to know what's to come if I'm fortunate to get it.
Do you have to be smart to get into a nursing school ? And what classes do you recommend people focus on in high school?
I loved this video. Cant wait for the supplies video. Xx
This is so on time! Just got accepted for the summer cohort at my school! Thank you!
This was so helpful. I got accepted into nursing school for the fall. Thanks so much , your videos are helpful. My orientation is later this month. I'm so excited
Thankfully my school let us pay for a package that was like $45 and it covered the background check and a couple other things.
Love your videos💕 and this one was right on time. I’m hoping to start nursing school this Fall and I am so nervous.
What eyeshadow are you wearing? It's so pretty on you! I have one more month of waiting to do until I find out if I'm accepted into the nursing program. I've been binge watching your videos to help pass the time. 😁
I need to catch up with your videos! Trying to get my grades back up!
I just got accepted into nursing school! I wanted to add that for my program you had to get your immunizations before your even applied!!
Got into University, going into mental health nursing. Can't wait.
Im applying for nursing school soonn
Hope i get in♡♥
Great video. thank you for the heads up! I'm applying now so this is great so I wont be caught off guard.
I been waiting for this video girl!
i’m a junior in high school hoping to be a nurse! i can’t wait!!
Books are so expensive and no one told me I could get an older edition until I already had them. Also depends on the school but for mine the instructors make their own exams so the book is only supplemental
I love your videos they motivate me to go to college for RN Your videos are helpful 😁
I just got accepted!
Absolutely love your videos. So informative! Hoping to get accepted this summer :)
I love your videos so much girl!! I’m still in the process I’m starting off in a program that starts me off as a cna and works my way up to become an RN .. I was held back a little because I didn’t know about the immunizations 🙄😭
Why is this right on time for me😂
