Excellent defense by Petrosian. In classical games Garry Kasparov tied Tigran Vartanovich Petrosian 2 to 2, with 1 draw, but notably Kasparov never played black against Petrosian! Petrosian's draw and two wins were all made playing the black pieces.

Petrosian was born and grew up in Tbilisi, Georgia. He came from a very poor Armenian family. My paternal grandmother was also from Tbilisi. She gave Petrosian private lessons of Russian to improve his Russian. Petrosian's dad Vardan and my great grandpa were friends. My great grandpa Samvel was a photographer, Vardan was a janitor at a local Armenian school. My dad says that in 1963, when Petrosian became the world champ, he told his grandpa Samvel about it who started crying when he heard that and said - if only Vardan were alive to see what his boy achieved.

They will not only be great chess players as you must learn chess while you still young, but that sort of analytical & strategic mindset will help them immensely in life. At 15:17 , why not capturing at e5?

Γεώργιος Γεωργιάδης i was wondering this msyelf. Doesn't q x e5 give check to black and prove devastating? Why don't you describe the rook taking bishop on a4 as colossal blunder? With the way the entire game up to this point was calculated by petrosian and kasparov, it does not make sense for gary to suddenly blunder. UNLESS there was time pressure perhaps?

Josh Pinchuk Right! You have clearly a point on this;)
I totally forgot about the time pressure that Kasparov might had faced in that game :P

mah man Kasparov was sort of hot back then. Also, never play a variation against someone that created it
