I like Antonio saying Tigran coolly takes the gambit, walks the king around and finally blunts the attacker that he throws in the towel. Yes this is Kasparov's ruined masterpiece, but it is also Tigran's beautiful sorcery. Thanks Antonio for bringing us this game
Five attackers on the Queen side where the King was wandering, the sixth is the sniper that already aim to exactly where the King was, and the Black's King was out front. It was crazy that Tigran still managed to defend with cold-blooded play.
It's best if the pictures are as they were when they were taken. Captures the moment in time.
They didn't have cameras
I love the different format of this video, this game definitely deserved more than the traditional "pause the video moment." Perhaps an entire series of near-masterpieces could be fun! Games like this where "pause the video" simply isn't enough, but rather we see the brilliance that could've been if even one or two moves had been played differently.
#suggestion this format is good for very complicated games that deserve more in-depth analysis of the position.
He really said "I'm gonna attack Tigran Petrosian."
The guts of a champion!
The guts of a world champion
The world of guts champion
The champion of world guts
The champion of guts world
how else do you think anyone ever beat petrosian other than by attacking him
Petrosian is truly a legend...especially when you know how hard it is to defend in chess
I love the classics. Thanks AGADMATOR 😎
I enjoy when you mix it up. Keep on surprising us. The content is just too great to get mad about the little things.
More classic games like this, thank you agadmator ❤🎉
Thank you for changing the videos format. You dive into winning line after the games, isolate why a the best move was a threat, and then finally, show the line. This is much more satisfying to watch, we appreciate you @agadmator
I love these old games Antonio still covers. I go way back on this channel and that's almost all he used to do.
Miss this
Bravest king in a chess game, a true king in the frontline with his people.
Man, your videos are gems. You must (not should) have a lot more views. I wish you the best.
one of your best videos ever agadmator!
The only video on Agadmator's channel that "In this position, at move..., ....resigned the game" is at the half, and the game continues to be analyzed afterward. Such a complicated game.
One of the most spectacular games I've seen a in a long time. Usually, attacks are one sided. This type of fierce defend is rare to see. Thanks!!
Keep the pictures B and W as they were please. Great game, love the Iron Tiger.
What a beautiful game. Absolute pleasure to watch this one Agadmator.
Tigran was a defensive monster R.I.P
That line he had to find was just so insane. I love the analysis you make.
Tigran is so fascinating. The structures he finds. In my mind he's the most talented prophylactic player ever.
Great video as always. #suggestion I would like to see more world championship matches. It would be great if you covered Kasparov vs Karpov!
the big K guys have played over 150 classical games with eachother (draws are only 119). there will be no rivalry greater that kasparov vs karpov ever.
#suggestion sagas > drawgas
Honestly this was the BEST game I have ever seen, even from agadmator channel! If you show this one to anyone they will fall in love with chess!
This video is really special @agad thank you
awesome video! well done man! when it is an old game it is better to leave the photo black and white imo
I really like this picture of Petrosian, it's my absolute favorite picture of him! He just looks so happy! 😁
#suggestion Max Weiss vs William Pollock 1889 this game was played at the 6th American Chess Congress which was considered the first candidates tournament as the winner of it would had the chance to challenge Steinitz for the title. This game won the brilliancy prize and it's very very brilliant i saw it for the first time today and I had a great time.
#suggestion
Very amazing video!
Great analysis! Thanks.
Crazy analysis 💯✌️
Its so amazing to watch this game. I am new to this chess world but I am already so much fascinated. What brilliant minds these guys have, truly amazing.
I just ❤ ur explanation
❤️ From INDIA
One of the best games I've seen on this channel.. and believe me, I've seen quite a few 😂👍🏻
I agree. Best since The Fischer Saga
#suggestion Black and White photos for the pre engine era would be nice
yaaaay petrosian
Fun game, thank you. Tigran is a wildman. Please show more games by Tigran .
one of those days when King went for a hunt..instead of being hunted down
I’m not good at chess, can someone explain to me why @7:08 it isn’t viable to capture the bishop with the knight?
king is pin
That isn't a legal move. If that knight moves the king would be in check from the other bishop on g2. You can't make a move that puts your king in check. If a piece can't move because of this, that piece is said to be "pinned."
the analysis was fantastic
you already show this game interestingly i watched last night agadmator
I grew up in this era and actually preferred Petrosian to Tal.
Very nice game and excellent analysis!!!
Bravo! Well commented and so on, thank you so much
Tigran's teeth are probably the greatest defensive dental works in all of chess.
First time I hear about Tigran and I am already a huge fan!! Amazing defensee
Nicknamed Iron Tigran he’s a machine
I mean this respectfully, buylt you must be REALLY new to chess! Tigran is one of the most legendary chess players ever: defensive minister, exchange sacrifice tactician, and positional magician. You'll love his games, especially the ones where he fends of the best of attackers like Mikhail Tal, Korchnoi and Keres!
i still remember tigrans game with the immortal rook, the pre engine era games hit different.@@newil_yovac
This was great. I love The Tiger.
Nice king run from Tigran!
Black and white photo is ok, but either is colored one. B/w photo is more authentic, but honestly either way is fine.
Wow. Now that’s fun and exciting
#suggestion If the photos have a nice sharpness to the detail, as these do here, then leave them in black-and-white. Colourization should only be applied to fuzzy photos.
The most essential part of Kasparov's chess career in my view is that in the 1995 world championship, Anand took the lead in game 9. In game 10, every time Kasparov made a move, he got up to go to the bathroom and slammed the door behind him so hard the room shook. The young and mild mannered Anand did not complain to the arbiter, who also did not act. Bullying destroys lives, and bullied children suffer lifelong low self esteem. No bully should be held up as a hero. When you need to win with such tactics, no game can be called a masterpiece.
I like the black and white phots because it makes it feel like an old game
Finally, the good stuff!
What a great game.
Petrosian was so clever to get out of that attack.
Most top players even today would have been crushed.
All the old masterpieces especially from the age old Capablanca and Fisher era. Would be awesome
#suggestion
Agad justifying Kasparov's Bb4 with the importance of the b4 square, again.😆
No preference on colouring the pictures, however I think for this game. Black and white was the best fit. With so many subtle quiet moves, it felt like the theme was silent giants. I think black and white definetly more appropriate in this case.
3:45 why not Ba3?
What a great game.
B&W photos, please!
Great attacking and defending Game!
c4-a5 with check has some interesting lines with rook sacrifice on b5 but does white win?
if c6xa5, then b3xb5+, pawn takes b5, queen takes pawn with check, if b7-a7, a2xa5 mate
or after c6xa5, d2xa5
white square bishop can also win exchange with black knight once queen is on 5 rank
tease some of these out Antonio? better to find more ways that kasparov muffed it!
I prefer the pictures black and white agad
Antonio, we need more analysis from these old games. 🙏
#Oldgamesanalysis
Nerves of steel! Must have been terrifying to play Petrosian. Even for Kasparov.
I prefer the black and white photos tbh
Is this that game where Garry said he almost fell from the chair seeing the King to C6 move? I think I heard it in one of Daniel's Speedrun games some time ago.
Im asking myself - To defend so well you need to see all attacking Options, all Dangers in the position and this makes you vice versa to a good attacker, but Tigran never did. I guess he just didn't feel like it? Maybe he saw all the Refutations and prefered to let his opponets commit 'the mistake'? Fascinating dude for sure
It amounts to what kind of structures the player prefers. Petrosian certainly could play an attacking style effectively, and did on occasion, but the resulting positions were likely not to his taste. Think of it like some opening you don't really like. Sure you can learn it and play it but for you it's uncomfortable and you'd rather something else. Like that.
Ben Finegold says he prefers playing defensively and waiting for his opponent to make a blunder (which at their level is a less than optimal move). Maybe Tigran was the same. It comes down to personal preference and it works just as well, I think. After all, reusing the Kasparov quote from this game, "Chess is mental torture". No I'm not going to take a hit at you -- I'm going to wait for you to attack me, then beat you with your own fist! And everyone playing against Petrosian would know this, so I?m sure it affected their attack.
Crazy to think what these guys would be capable of with modern engines to help them prepare and improve.
When you went back to the position, the move is : Knight to A4 check immediately…in either case a rook sac results in a mating attack
#suggestion i just checked the tournoment after i saw this game. 3 people could win at last round. Alexander G Beliavsky vs Jan Timman game (last round) was an awesome attack satrting with a piece sac and then ending the attack up a piece. check that game out, you might wanna show some great games from that tournoment.
Good point about how dominating Bobby Fisher was
I'd be really curious to know about Antonio's progression as a chess player since starting his channel.
Black and white pics reflecting a foregone black and white chess era is much more historical and authentic!
Sometimes I just send you some money on paypal because, honestly, it doesn't make sense content this good is free!
also I hate how good Petrosian is as a defender. So annoyingly good 🤣
Agad make videos on old games like this one
There is a different allure to these games, gone are the days of pure human chess.
Tell your opponents
"Feel safe at night.
Sleep with Tigran Petrosian."
One pls tell me if it was fisher vs. karpov in the challenger what fisher declined what would b the result. My one is definitely karpov.
wow what a game, we never focus on how good someone is at defense and this is shows that.
To think of this was played in pre engine era, boggles my mind
I prefer the photos in their original - if they were B&W, so be it - it looks classy. Thanks :-)
Why are the black &white pic? 1981 was way into colored pictures
In this game we see Tigran Petrosian the illusionist, casting the illusion that you can just play the obvious and your opponent can't do anything about it. Everyone sees that you can capture the pawn, everyone sees that you can unpin, but the moves look silly at first. It's Tigran that just plays them anyway, makes them work anyway. Even Kasparov fell for it.
Black and White gives a much better retro look than color. Color is overrated sometimes.
In today's era no player has the guts to keep that many pieces on the board and play a complicated position like that. Only the best defenders ever (Petrosian, Karpov, Botvinnik) and best attackers ever (Tal, Kasparov, Morphy) could.
Wow! What a game. Kasparov should have won it. Attack over defense for me. But what a great defender Petrosian is.
#suggestion game 7 from the 1966 World Chess Championship match between Boris Spassky, challenger, and Tigran Petrosian, champion
Either way on coloring or not coloring the pictures. Black and white has historical significance, so I lean toward that. However, please add proper punctuation to your quotations. For example, a period at the end would be nice for this quotation. "Chess is mental torture." If you are afraid to add a period because more words follow in the full quotation, I assure you that it is proper to add the period when you shorten the quotations according to the best grammar practices.
How about white Rook capture on b5?
I guess only two people could defend like this from the era: Tigran and Fischer
Tigran vs Bobby from the run-up to the 1972 world chess championship is chefs kiss.
@@TheWayofGrace89 ya
It's like Fischer could not stand a loss so he had to play three quite draws to recover from the trauma
Then he just went back to Fischer mode and crushed Tigran
There are some games that just absolutely break my brain O.o
I suppose this was a computer sequence, and that a human player would not be able to look ahead so many moves. That Kasparov reversed the move order shows how important chess intuition is.
8:40 why not check first
I want to learn playing with black pieces , if you can put the black pieces down the board when black is the wining one i think it is good idea , anyway thank you for your effort 😊
Absolutely Fine game...as said coold bloded moves🥶
More Garry!!)
It's amazing what an Engine can find
please cover more old games
Women's World Team Championship Plz. Batsiashvili could be so interesting.
#suggestion alireza vs andreikin speed chess championship last 3+1 game. Winner goes to next round; with under promotion to a knight
Shows how the king can be an important attacking piece
