    There are many many many arguments for the greatest attacker ever: Tal, Neshy, Fischer Morphy, but there is only one argument for the greatest defender ever. Petrosian, without doubt the hardest person to checkmate.

      andrew hall , don't forget that he was destroyed by Fischer in candidates 1971

      @arshakmmm4752 5 лет назад +144

      Kamran Abbasi. When did it happen? 1972, when Fischer was at his highest point of struggle and 29 years young. Petrosian was 43 years old and already has won, held and has lost the championship. Did you know that people, after achieving a grand goal in their life become more peaceful and concentrate more on their personal life and personal interests. You can’t compare players in different stages of their lives. and if all of this arguments are not enough for you, then why did not Fischer destroy Tigran in 60s? The chess world was open and he was in his mid 20s (age at which Tal and Kasparov became champions) so you can’t say he was too young.

In final standings where you have putted the modern time flags, there is a mistake - if you dont put the soviet union flag (I guess because it was soviet championship), the right flag for Petrosian would be flag of Armenia, not Georgia. He was born in Tbilisi (capital of Georgia) and after moved to Moscow, but he was an armenian chess player!

    I think it was Yuri Averbach who said that the way to stop Rashid's attcks was to do what Petrosian basically did. Deny lines of attack and if you refute Rashid's ideas long enough, he won't find a way for victory and you can counter.
    Of course, playing that defensive brilliancy is easier said than done. However, I think that Yuri, like Petrosian, had a strong record against Rashid.

    09:40 why did not h1 rook capture h4 rook instead of queen capturing black h4?

    • @Pumbear
      @Pumbear 4 года назад

    At 6:55, what is white's threat after Rxh3? agadmator just says white can do a lot of damage, particularly if black doesn't play Qe8 after Rh1. What happens if black doesn't play Qe8?
