that looks like my man David Hildalgo one of the greatest people to ever play with.. everybody loves playing not only with Los lobos or when David jams..
that's Natalie mains of the chicks Papa.. now I see why when they make albums she always calls on him to not only produce a lot of the stuff but arrange a lot of the stuff and play
I would never have known that. Thanks for your comment- both of you. Obscure-yet-Interesting stuff about favorite artists is the Best Thing About RUclips!
The only things that could've made this better: 1: If they would've let Vince rip it up on the guitar 2: If Jason could've sang a verse and 3: If Townes were still around to enjoy and join in. Otherwise this is the most epic thing ever to grace the ACL stage.
Deciding on the right key for such an array of voices must have been interesting. Ray Benson had to sing higher than normal. Patty Loveless, lower than normal.
There's a truly great classic NewGrass version of this by New Grass Revival but Townes Van Zant was never considered a Bluegrass artist, and this isn't a Bluegrass song. I'm not a fan of all-star tribute bands but these are great musicians from different persuasions, showing off to their counterparts in the other bands and apparently having fun. I thought that was more creative than the usual approach. Might not be your Thing but this is most definitely not a shitty rockabilly band🙂
When was Townes Van Zandt ever a bluegrass artist? You are showing your ignorance. Molly Tuttle did a nice bluegrass style cover of White Freight Liner Blues, but that doesn't make the song a "bluegrass classic".
Townes would have been 77 today-he would have loved this.
Great show guys. Love you all. Wish I was there.

David is one of the most overlooked guitarist of his generation. And Los Lobos is certainly underappreciated, too.
dwight did a terrific Job of Hosting this show,
Imagine having Vince Gill, Johnny Hiland, and Jason Isbell on stage, and not giving them a guitar break.
unthinkable... but then they're not from Texas
That was pretty rockin'
LLoyd Maines & Eddie Rivers on steel guitar are awesome!

@@truckerkevthepaidtourist Yep, Lloyd's been a favorite with me for a long time. If I see his name on an album, I trust that it'll be good.

Great version, great song, shame Molly Tuttle wasn't on stage, she really owns that song these days! No dis respect to the crew on stage. Cheers
This is the only version that rivals Molly's.
Now thats what I call a Jam Bloomin awesome

I am so proud to call Max & Josh Baca friends :) Good job guys :) x
There is only ONE engineer who could have designed a stage to support so much talent- Thanks GOD.
Awesome
it was pretty cool when Dan Akroyd sang the third verse.
you may want to dial back the booze. no Akroyd.
It's Vince Gill.

Haha I don’t remember writing that, but yeah, umm it was a joke.
Hey I got it.

Molly Tuttle does own this song but this is a pleasant change.

Might fine.........tons of talent on that stage! Did I see Vince Gill ?

Oh its bad news from Dallas, half my friends are dyin'.
I wish I could identify all the players.

Why is Dwight not in the ACL Hall of Fame?
I'm sure many more will say this, but they should have given Jason a verse...

Too many cooks in a kitchen makes for a shitty soup.
I can't believe they turned this bluegrass classic into sh*tty rockabilly
