      Technically, if it's Stevie's tone that Kenny is playing spot on, then Kenny is just playing Albert King, because that's what SRV did his whole life. He played Albert King and Jimi Hendrix and did what Buddy Guy was trying to do.

    Will probably be thrashed for this but, oh well. Have you ever cooked before? Made a classic recipe, but then thought you could make it even better by adding more ingredients, but it ended up detracting from the classic delicious combination? That's kind of how I feel about this performance. Willie & Lyle are fine, in their own context, but to me it seems like adding licorice to this lasagna.

    • @hottubz1965
      @hottubz1965 9 лет назад

      rikci lindsay I hear you, but actually it was a tribute to 40 years of ACL, and there are a bunch of previous performers who I wouldn't have included in a SRV song. Joan Baez and Nine Inch Nails wouldn't sound good with them either. To each their own, I guess.

    • @hottubz1965
      @hottubz1965 9 лет назад +3

      Good zinger, Adam! You think that one up all by yourself?? It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't amazing. There are many, MANY more 'amazing' blues videos out there than this, and a bunch of other ACL guests that might have been better choices. IMHO. Enjoy!

      @ricksalt6860 9 лет назад +1

      hottubz1965 I'm with you . They could have each soloed for 4 bars being the tempo the song is at .It might have been more refreshing to hear Robert Randolph intro the tune , instead we got sound a-likes attempting the original version. Since SRV's death , I've heard many versions of this all playing like SRV and then this one doing
      the same thing , zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

      Doyle Bramhall Sr was the man who wrote House Is Rocking and Change It with Stevie. His son who is on the clip is absolutely undoubtedly one of the best blues rock guitarists alive. He plays in Claptons band along with EC and Derek Trucks. Eric holds his playing in very high regard. Really unique player.

    It's a blues piece, not an orchestra piece... Not meant to be overplayed by 20 guitarists....

    • @jjryan1352
      @jjryan1352 4 года назад

      What an ignorant comment. Orchestras play the same part at the same time. Blues is heavily driven by electric guitar and they just took turns soloing as is the tradition in an unrehearsed collective jam of this sort. Blues musicians can take a 4 minute song and make it 20 minutes no sweat.
