    Stevie Ray Vaughan's whole life was the blues.He is in both the Blues Hall of Fame and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Blues is highly improvisational, and he never performed a song the same way twice. Neither he nor his band mates ever knew exactly what he was going to do when he walked out on that stage! A round of applause for his band Double Trouble. No easy task keeping up with SRV! 🎸

    Rest in Peace, Stevie Ray ~ died in a helicopter crash in heavy fog at Alpine Valley, Wisconsin just 40 minutes away from me. Couldn't get more tragic. His brother Jimmie found Steve's necklace at the crash site the next day. He will be forever missed, but we are so grateful that so much of his playing was recorded. You were the best, SRV.

    • @xenoscoot
      @xenoscoot 3 года назад +4

      My sister is 1/2 hour from Alpine. Breaks our hearts to this day. I am a Louisiana native. My daughter was born on the first day of his last set, Aug 25. My niece on the day he died, Aug 27. He shares my father's birthday...and there's a lot more I could say on synchronicity...suffice it to say...SRV has meant something to me since I was a youngster. I was 14 when he died.

    • @CuzKatieSaysSo
      @CuzKatieSaysSo 3 года назад +3

      @@xenoscoot That's pretty cool and special to be into the blues at 14. So you'll never think of your dad on his birthday without thinking of Stevie Ray also. Those dates you told me are Really something! It's a lot to take in. ✌️
      😥 EVERYBODY was greatly affected at the loss of Everyone on that helicopter, but I think it hits home more when you were a Wisconsinite, And you didn't live that far from Alpine Valley on top of it.
      Having seen the Dead there countless times, it's a very familiar place. We lost Stevie Ray in August of '89, and I lost my mother to cancer in October '89. She was 63 and I was 33. They all died too young. It must have been so devastating for Jimmie Vaughn, and think of it! Jimmie could just as easily been on that helicopter with his brother! What an awful thought. Heaven has one helluva band growing on the Other Side. 🎸😇🤺

I watched a special about him and all the guitar greats agreed that he was the real deal. He was allowed to record old blues songs in his own way because they believed he earned it and belonged with them. I wondered how he was able to do that when no one else is. Hearing it from B B King and others made it clear.

    The great Eric Clapton referred to SRV as an "open channel"..... there was just no end to him. It just flowed right out of him. Not written. Not scripted. Not time-constrained. Just PURE soul.

    Love love love this reaction! I just sent this to my dad and he loved it just as much as I did. I had no choice but to grow up on a wide range of music because of my dad, and SRV and other blues heavy artists were played faithfully. Much love King, from myself and my dad!

    You already checked out "Voodoo Chile" - which was a cover of a Jimi Hendrix song. He also did a cover of Stevie Won'der's "Superstition" that was so great that Stevie Wonder himself sang "Amazing Grace" at SRV's funeral. Check out "Little Wings" (all instrumental). And then also check at the live version of "Look at Little Sister" with Jeff Healey (another GOAT, who was actually blind). All of this will blow you mind. This is the blues at it's best.

      YES - Laurie - "Look at Little Sister" - two videos - the version where keyboardist Reese Wynans is featured - and the Jeff Healey collaboration - hard to decide which I love the most!

    I truly love and miss this beautiful man Stevie Ray Vaughan. Not only was he a great guitarist, he was honestly a great person too. Because he lived the world is a brighter place to live...it's a bittersweet life we all live and like it or not we are all brothers and sisters together we are humanity...😯

    1: He starts out ripping some of the best blues riffs ever. 2: Then he adds great blues vocals. 3: Then he says let me play those great blues riffs behind my back. 4: Then he says let me just add those vocals back into the mix. Nothing to see here folks. Just sit back and enjoy the show.... the show of a lifetime.
