I love that she did this video because the other day I was just thinking of rereading 2 of my favorite series from HS, like the Shatter Me series and I just found out that there are 6 books! 😅 so I’m excited
when i read fourth wing i quickly realized the reason i enjoyed it so much was because it had me nostalgic for reading divergent the first time. the energies of the books are the same
Augustus Waters was my first ever book boyfriend and I’m not ashamed to admit that; The Fault in Our Stars is a gateway book for me into the romance genre. I have reread that book sooo many times even now in my mid twenties and it hits EVERY SINGLE TIME!!!!
"kicking and giggling my feet"🤣. Right now I'm rereading all my books that I haven't read in the last year and my ratings have changed so much (for better and for worse). I'm experiencing a lot of nostalgia while also questioning what my taste in books used to be.
13:33 four is the fourth book and it’s all four’s pov. There are different stories in it, like when he was still in abnegation with his father and chose dauntless as his new faction (this is all off the top of my head), when he’s actually training in dauntless, and there are scenes from when he meets tris and she’s training and stuff. This book genuinely had a chokehold on me because four was my BIGGEST book crush ever and Theo James who plays him in the films is 🥵
IS THAT THE ONE WHERE WHEN IT’S UNTIED HER HEAD FALLS OFF?!? I think you unlocked a hidden memory for me 😂 I never read the book but my cousin did and made me read that specific story!
There is nothing better than reading a book and getting the absolute adrenaline rush and warm fuzzy feeling of how you felt as a kid reading a book for the first time and loving it
i’ve been thinking about rereading my childhood faves recently this feels like my sign to go for it (the way i gave city of bones 5 stars on goodreads in 2014 haunts me to this day i have to know)
So I’m a middle school ELA teacher and it was so nice to hear that your teachers exposed you to all these books! Coincidence I’m reading Divergent for the first time and loving it! Love your channel it makes me nostalgic for my youth ❤
im soooo glad you mentioned the fourth wing correlation, as someone who would repeatedly reread divergent reading fourth wing was soooo hard to not compare to it
I own every book except for scary stories to tell in the dark. I have so many vivid memories of these books especially the fault in our stars… that book really hits home.
OH MY GOD Because of Winn Dixie was my favorite book in middle school! Also loved the scary stories to tell in the dark those were so creepy especially as a child!
My books from my childhood always will be Harry Potter. I'm a 90's baby and i remember being 7 when the first movie came out and started reading the books. Man, how i love those, is a part of me 💜
waitttt no I 100% agree with fourth wing being super reminiscent of divergent when I first read it! When I was reading it my husband asked me how it was and I responded, “it’s like divergent, but the dauntless are dragon riders.”
2014 nostalgia ugh I miss that year and I really embrace 2014/15 to a t and it has been working and im gonna continue it I just miss those times music , movies , tv everything was great
I didn't know Barnes existed until about 4-5 years ago. I grew up thinking that the library was the only place to get books. Then as an adult, I was incredibly lost trying to figure out where people got books bc I didn't have a library near me with many option. It's insane to think of this now but I genuinely had no idea lol
The Fault In Our Stars will always be elite. I was obsessed with that book & movie. Been wanting to reread as well. And Divergent omg! Completely obsessed with those books too. The movies after the first one don’t exist in my mind lol. Also went through a hardcore Maze Runner phase. Don’t mind me, just walking down nostalgia lane
seeing similarities between fourth wing and divergent is so real i only read the divergent series for the first time pretty recently, and i read fourth wing before that so i saw SO many similarities omg
Omg the nostalgia from seeing Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark!! I still have my copies from elementary school and im so glad i do, i didnt know they were banned or republished lol
Wow! This video made me feel old. All of these books, except scary stories, came out and I read them in college. Growing up I read the American Girl books, The Magic Attic series, The Chronicles of Narnia, & Little House on the Prairie.
Okay but dork diaries!!! And junie b jones. Iconic. But girl yes, I still have my TFIOS phone case that is SO CUTE and has like the okay? Okay. Clouds on the middle with a bunch of cute little graphics of the book/movie
This made me want to reread Divergent now 😭 But I was the same as Destiny, when I was younger I never kept up with releases or if the books were part of a series/trilogy and now I couldn't even imagine starting one series without finishing it!
Omg I was OBSESSED with The Fault in Our Stars😭 makes me want to re-read butttt I know my copy is somewhere DEEP in the archives😅 such a fun video, Des!!
omg the divergent series was the books that started it all for me!!! i remember on the verge of tears in my sixth grade ela class when i read at the end of allegiant 😭😭😭 iykyk
The Fault in Our Stars is the first book I purchased when I was 15(2016). I got it because I watched the movie at 14 in 2015 and I was head over heals with it and reread and rewatched both the movie and books 8 million times
Oh wow I read lots of these! I also remember RL Stine and his Fear Street books! I’ve been collecting a few of my childhood books to re-read eventually.
I loved this video!! I also was always an avid reader my whole life so I can relate to you on that. This inspired me to want to reread some books I loved when I was younger!
I just put the fault in our stars in my Amazon cart 😭😤 I just remember in middle school the John Green book set were so popular I think it would be fun to see you read/reread the John Green books!😄❤️🎉
28:15 STOPPP seeing you with this book is giving me flashbacks. I read this, 3 years ago in seventh grade because I was just chilling bored in my lang & lit class, while sitting next to the bookshelf and something js told me why don't I try reading. At that time the last time I read a book was Little Women for a school project and even though I enjoyed it after all it had taken me months to read. I started If I Stay in my 5th period and by 6th period I was soo invested and capulated by the book. I finished it a day or so later and loved it. A week or so later I wanted to try reading and told my sister to order a book for me. LitterallyI just searched up popular books and went on tiktok and It Ends With Us came up repeatedly, so my sister ordered that book for me. The rest really is history. Reading If I Stay and It Ends With Us changed my life forever and I am forever thankful. There really wouldn't have been my love for reading if there hadn't been If I Stay!
omg. that drawing you showed from scary stories to tell in the dark unlocked a funny memory for me. my dad who is a huuuuge horror reader had that as his first "profile picture" on like msn messenger or something 20yrs ago and it always creeped me out and i wondered where it was from hahaha
OMG DESTINY!!!! I had recommended The Fault in Our Stars not too long ago(if you hadn’t already read it)!! I’m so happy you read it as a child, I loved this book so much ❤❤❤
14:47 thats so true! Esp for my age its def so different now with the whole goodreads and everything. I remember being a teen or kid and you would most likely read a book after the movie or tv show came out. Im thinking about it cause I am from the gossip girl era. And I read every single book before watching the tv show and now i think about how there’s now Magnolia Parks (which people say is like Gossip Girl in this generation).I wonder if it will be adapted into a tv show..
i had a substitute teacher in elementary school who would always read us a story from the scary stories to tell in the dark books! he was my absolute favorite sub, he would always make the day so fun
If i stay is one of the best pieces of literature that encompasses what it feels to be a classical musician and actually love what you do. When i read it i was injured and couldn't practice and it hit me in WAYS??? (I was 18 when i read it so not that young). No other piece of literature ive read since then actually accurately encompasses that feeling
I remember reading the Fault In Our Stars my Junior or Senior year of college. A professor recommended it to me and even gave me her own copy. 😊 It was so sweet! I read the Divergent series in 2016 and enjoyed it. Still never expected that ending. 😮😅
Where She Went was definitely my favorite from the if I stay duology from when I was younger and rereading it as an adult. I think I just enjoyed seeing Adam and Mia as adults
Okay but I also read Scary Stories as a child, and when I saw that book in your hand my stomach lurched. I was terrified by that scarecrow story. It’s the only one that I still remember as an adult and it literally haunts me.
I’m a teacher and level 4 usually means about a 4th grade reading level! And the “level p” refers to basically the same thing (kids usually begin at level A in kindergarten and then it goes through the alphabet level P rests between third and fourth grade on average but of course we have readers at all levels and ages!) Also “you used to call me Augustus” lives painfully in my mind
I'm also re reading the fault in our stars !!!! I'm actually trying to re reading all my old favorites books back then to know If I'm always in love or not
“Why is this lighting giving twilight?” *tucks hair behind the ear* 🤣🤣🤣
I sang a-ah a-ah a-ah a-aaah😂
i love that these books were a universal experience for girls in middle school, seeing you reread these books are making me want to reread them 💕💕
I love that she did this video because the other day I was just thinking of rereading 2 of my favorite series from HS, like the Shatter Me series and I just found out that there are 6 books! 😅 so I’m excited

Middle school you reading romance is so real 😂
Rereading a book from our childhood or teenage years will always hit different 😭❤️
Augustus Waters was my first ever book boyfriend and I’m not ashamed to admit that; The Fault in Our Stars is a gateway book for me into the romance genre. I have reread that book sooo many times even now in my mid twenties and it hits EVERY SINGLE TIME!!!!

John green has my heart, the fault in our stars is just unmatched, I was 14 at the time and I never recovered, should definitely reread it 💛🌞✨
the girl with the green ribbon scary story still lives in my head 24/7 i was so scared as a kid
IS THAT THE ONE WHERE WHEN IT’S UNTIED HER HEAD FALLS OFF?!? I think you unlocked a hidden memory for me 😂 I never read the book but my cousin did and made me read that specific story!

13:47
I love it when Des snaps back at the haters before they can even start typing 🤣🤣
So I’m a middle school ELA teacher and it was so nice to hear that your teachers exposed you to all these books! Coincidence I’m reading Divergent for the first time and loving it! Love your channel it makes me nostalgic for my youth ❤
This is maybe the earliest i have been. She knew i needed a video for breakfast!!
im soooo glad you mentioned the fourth wing correlation, as someone who would repeatedly reread divergent reading fourth wing was soooo hard to not compare to it
THIS WAS SO FUN!!!! you have to do a part 2 and 3 for middle and high school
I own every book except for scary stories to tell in the dark. I have so many vivid memories of these books especially the fault in our stars… that book really hits home.
Divergent and Fourth Wing given the same vibes is something I've been waving up about since forever!
Man, how i love those, is a part of me 💜
i need the saturation filter on a whole video to heal my childhood youtube heart LOL
This was so fun I would definitely watch another one of these! (I watch all your videos, but would be extra excited for more haha)
I was so obsessed with divergent and the maze runner series ❤❤
the way i had tfios merch and my birthday cake that year was “okay? okay”
waitttt no I 100% agree with fourth wing being super reminiscent of divergent when I first read it! When I was reading it my husband asked me how it was and I responded, “it’s like divergent, but the dauntless are dragon riders.”
please do a part 2, I loved this📚🫶🏻

It's crazy how nobody is talking about the banned ebook Magnetic Aura from Borlest
The Fault In Our Stars will always be elite. I was obsessed with that book & movie. Been wanting to reread as well. And Divergent omg! Completely obsessed with those books too. Divergent books were honestly SO good. It inspired me to face my fears LOL
Girl! I totally agree with you about the similarities between divergent and fourth wing.
seeing similarities between fourth wing and divergent is so real
i only read the divergent series for the first time pretty recently, and i read fourth wing before that so i saw SO many similarities omg
These books brought back so many memories from my childhood!! Love you des
Where she went is such a good book. It was even better and more emotional for me and I really read it so much as a child.
oh btw if i stay book has a second book called "Where she went" so there you can see more of an ending and wraped story
This whole video idea reminds me of the TS quote "There wouldn't be this, if there hadn't been you"
I love hearing about books for my age group and am so grateful that you made this video! 💗

I highly suggest reading the sequel to If I Stay! I loved seeing her journey of overcoming everything that happened in the first book.
There's a banned ebook called Magnetic Aura from Borlest, and it talks from body language to mind tricks to increase attraction, it's the real deal
Thank you! I've been talking about these similarities between Divergent and Fourth Wing since I read Fourth Wing!
omg i LOVED scary stories to tell in the dark!!!!!!! def checked it out from the library in elementary school and took it to a sleepover hahaha
Me too ❤
