In this video, I’m going to show you some of the features and specs of the 2024 BMW R12 NINE T, and take you on a test ride to see how it performs on the road. I’ll also share my honest opinion and feedback on the pros and cons of this bike.
If you enjoyed this video, please give it a thumbs up and leave a comment below. I’d love to hear your thoughts and questions on the BMW, or any other bike you’d like me to review. And don’t forget to subscribe to my channel and hit the bell icon to get notified of my future videos.

Hey Folks. Halliwell Jones are actually running some offers on bikes for March delivery:
You get an extra £500 if you part-exchange a BMW and order a new bike from stock, for March delivery 👍
www.halliwelljones.co.uk/bmw-motorrad/spring-trade-in-offer
Just thought I'd share the offer (and no, I won't be getting commission! 🤣)
As a safety measure, I don't understand why BMW ask for another £200 for better headlights, that should be standard on all bikes they sell. These additional costs are becoming too common in my opinion, it is one thing to pay more for special paint or a more comfortable seat, or luggage etc, but safety features, if available, should always be included in the base price.
Let’s be honest, if they only offered the better headlight, it would hike the minimum bike price up. Look at it as an opportunity to reduce the price of the bike if you don’t want a better headlight rather than a price riser.
Soon headlights will be additional extra at this rate
And seats this is common practice even Incar industry . I don’t thin’ the bean counters realise h9w much it pisses buyers off. I have a 2016 sporster with the alu tank. Spent too much making it better to change , new wheels, led headlamp , rapid bike evo, rizoma bars, airbox delete and so on
I’ve never had a bike with cornering headlights, so probably wouldn’t miss what I’ve never had. But, I take your point.
FFS if you're that worried about it take the car
The video quality gets better and better each time!!! LOVE IT HERE FOR IT
Love watching you Kate very entertaining ride safe😊
Love it thank you Kate
Fantastic review Kate, you just get better & better 100k subscribers on the way
"Welcome back to the channel everybody, I hope you're well!" - careful, I may have to trademark the latter part of that! ;0)
When I start saying 'Hi Kids, it's Usernamekate here!!' then you can start to worry 🤣❤️
Thank You matushka Kate!!! Great review of a great bmw motorcycle!!!
Always loving your RUclips videos such a beautiful person ride safe kate
That drone footage is first rate 👍 I love the sound and feeling (throttle) of the oil-cooled motor and, from your commentary, it sounds like BMW upped their game on the suspension. I think the new design flows better and looks more of a piece rather than a construction project. Like you, I like analog gauges, but I also like the small LCD screen as I believe the dinner platter LCD screens look odd on naked bikes, like you forgot to move your iPad before taking off.
I wasn’t in the market for another tooling-around motorcycle, but your wonderful review has got me thinking . . .
‘Sprightly little rip around…’ Oh how I love listening to the way you say things in that warm hearted accent of yours.
❤️
Great video Kate, keep them coming!👍👍
Great video and review, enjoyed that! Great roads too, I must put it on the list!
Thank you Kate. There are not many review of bmw r12 on youtube
Drone footage is a nice touch 👍
Awesome video
Just purchased one, pick up next week. Good review.
Great 1st ride review Kate - and what a machine!
I'm presuming there's a low fuel warning light which is good enough for me; I fill up before every ride and reset the trip meter at the same time.
I like the traditional appeal of the R12 Nine T, but I do like that digital display; looks more streamlined than the twin clocks.
Yes, the bike IS bit of a heffer - certainly more so than an MT-09 - but I'll bet it's more stable as a result.
Shaft drive can divide opinion, and as an owner of two current and many BMWs down the years I have to admit to being biased.
But I don't think anyone can argue that the R12 9T is easier to clean & maintain.
Thanks again for a really professional and fun video 🙂
Another great video, Kate. Almost bought a RNineT a few years ago, but went with a Ducati Monster instead (the sound of Termignoni race pipes loosened my wallet!). I've always liked the look of the RNineT though despite not being a BMW boxer fan in general. I think they nailed the styling and customisation options with it. This new one looks even better, but to not have a fuel gauge on a modern TFT is inexcusable!
Good review Kate,top.
Well kate another great vlog they are getting more and more slick ,can only say all the work you guys put in is only going one way, ka ching
I totally agree with the no fuel gauge issue we are 2024 ,on a bike that expensive.... really !!
A great review Kate thank you, ordered one today, aside the fuel guage cock up it’s a great bike, typical nice friendly BMW, but unusually sporty for this type of bike. Great summer day blaster and the GSA can do the rest 👍
Nature of your expressions in regards of this ride has been truly charming.
Keep being natural and ,
Farewell.
Great review Kate. I'm glad you mentioned about the awkward naming, that's the first thing that I thought too. Doesn't exactly roll off the tongue 😂
11:59 🐑
Love your reviews! Getting caught up on some of the earlier videos
The retro stay just in the name
Another great review Kate, are you planning a review on the R12 cruiser as well?
You are a champion
keep going
Thanks
Great review Kate, love the test route and drone shots 👍🏻🏍️
Nice review again Kate!🙌. I noticed the temperature notation too😁. I almost had a heart attack when I changed the price for that bike into Canadian funds though, roughly $28,000.00.
Nice review Kate! I agree about the lack of fuel info; it really is a miss. I just picked up a new 24' R1250 RT here in the states. I'm just over the top with it, even during this break-in period. Can't wait to let its legs stretch.
Thanks for the review, Kate. The bike looks exciting. A bit too much for me, though. 😁😁😁
Like how you covered pricing right off, rather as an afterthought. I've been waiting to finally learn the US pricing vs UK/Europe which has already been out for some time. More drone footage please!
Production is getting so so good
Another quality review Kate enjoyed that lots.
Thanks so much! 😊
I just ordered a loaded 719. Woohoo. Great review.
Very jelly!!!
Its a handsome bike Kate. I would love to have one in my garage
Can we just start of the video with a massive high five to the universe for the first video of 2024 with no rain lol
Hei Ka Excellent review of BMW R9T.The Motorcycle is looking very beautiful because of the design similar to Trendy Scrambler motorcycles.I liked your video 🎉
It's so similarly designed as my 1995 R1100R. That had the paralever front suspension and handled like a dream. If I were physically able to ride yet, this is what I would be riding.
Great review Kate, sometimes I just don't get BMW, no fuel gauge!! It puts me off going near a dealer. The more reviews I view on the new BMW range makes my wallet want to leg it 😮
With those who want more information about the fuel gauge situation...
I ran it until the fuel light came on, then it gave me a count up with every mile I put on it. I got to 18 miles on this count up and didn't want to risk running out so I fueled up.
I suspect you'd get about 20-25 miles from the start of the count up but of course, it depends how you ride! :)
I also didnt fancy running dry to find the limits 🤣
In other words the gas gauge is the low fuel light. This makes good sense to me. To confirm, set trip odometer to zero at each fill-up, then when the low fuel light comes on, check average miles per gallon. As you say, there remains about 20 or 25 miles of reserve.
Hi 👋 Kate,
That’s the exact same bike my buddy and I have seen at BMW dealer in Modena, right yesterday morning. And I have to admit it captured our attention: I mean, It’s a real beautiful piece of technology, the perfect example that brilliant minds can match functionality and beauty. I think here it’s even more expensive: the label said “it starts from 18(k) something and in that configuration 21 something euros”… I don’t know the actual change, actually. Anyway, your explanation are always perfectly clear. I follow you for your contents, but I also I love the sound of your voice and your accent too: I think it improves my English comprehension, I understand 100% of what you say, probably because you don’t speak too fast. I love it. Thank you very much
Nein, es beginnt ( in Germany) bei 14900 Euro😅😅
Thanks for this great test ride Kate, great review. Surprised at how effective the little TFT screen was. However, for me I think I'd choose the Kawasaki Z900RS over this.
The bike looks really well. Interesting to hear tour thoughts on the engine. It's the olihead of the 2010 on 1200's. Some say that this DOHC boxer is the best engine that BMW have ever produced. Nice to see the exhaust and injectors in the traditional place. I wonder how it would compare to a R1200R from back in the day. Really enjoyed your take on this bike.
Classic Kate review. Well balanced. Nice atmosphere. 👍👍
Thank you kindly!
(Visually) loud maybe out but I love it. Better then any loud exhaust since it leaves passers by the option to look away.
It is a nice looking naked bike. I like the boxer motor, I've ridden a few in the 1990's, but none of the recent versions.
I prefer the twin clocks over the digital dash, then I'm an older rider.
Lovely review. The bike is a stunner! Really captures the essence of the boxer twin for me.
I feel ridiculous for saying this, but that brushed aluminum option with the red frame is totally worth it to me. Makes the bike look so much better.
Ha crocodile, I'm loving your descriptive technical terms... twizzily bits 😂
Having keyless ride but still needing a key for fuel and steering lock is incredibly silly .......but I still really want one.
I love the styling cues on this bike , Yamaha xlr 900 are you watching
Another bike for your garage Kate🤔? I've had two R9Ts, the last one was on a 21 plate and, I loved it, especially when you changed it to dynamic from road. It made it a totally different machine! But, like you said, wtf is going on with no fuel gauge? Come on BMW, everyone complaines about it😞. Apart from that, a great bike👍. Oh yeah, I loved the drone footage.
Thanks for this. NO FUEL GAUGE????
Nice vid Kate and no stool required 😊. Is it that much better than the speed twin which is considerably cheaper?
Like all bmw car's or bikes it's all the extras the only free things on any bmw's is the air my old bmw got a lot of looks of people the handling was not that good i will have to try a new on to compare to my old one but you do make it sound good kate
Now this is what I was meaning, when I said in my last review on the Yammie MT, I can hear it in your voice, and in your overflowing excitement, what your real deep down thoughts and feelings are towards the bike you're reviewing. The Yammie was well done..., professionally and objectively.
On this one however, you are over the moon with it, your ride is filled wirh bright sparkling lights and pink unicorns, throwing confetti at you, as the pedestrians cheer you on with glasses of bubbly in their hands!
BMW... near and dear to your heart! Why? I don't know, but I accept it, and am very glad for you being able to swing ya leg over a Beemer again... despite still having one at home?
Good review and entertaining to watch, although i'm no fan of this brand.
Thanks for calling out the lack of a fuel gauge, information has been slim on that so far.
Gotta just report on what I find 😊
Lovely review. The roads of East Slovenia (seen here Ptuj to Obrez on to Sredisce ob Dravi) are understandably not the nicest this time of year. Nevertheless, Slovenia is such a pretty place, as one can easily attest in this moving pictoral. Their fish and chips shops are some of the best anywhere.
thanks kate....nice vblog. what about motor vibration? do you feel more than my2023?
Great Review! Those roads are amazing!
Would be nice to have a review of a barebone BMW for once. It's always a fully blinged out model with packs that costs your shirt and more.
It's how the demos come 😊 because they want to showcase features you see. But I get you!
It looks handling machine Kate, and great video as always👌👌👌
One of the most exciting 2024 bikes!!!
Can't wait to hear what you think 🥰
You can set trip to 0 when you fill up, empty at 150 miles. It would be nice to have a count-down trip you could set 150 at fill up.
Awesome review! No fuel gauge - no bueno! That would be a deal breaker for me. Quite honestly I think it's silly. Especially for BMW. With the technology we have today I reckon someone could design a fuel gauge foe a thimble. Other than that is is a beautiful bike. That area was " the trough?" Very nice indeed . Cool rock walls . 😉 Best!
The Trough of Bowland 😊
Good review. Thanks.
Good Vid Kate , Think these prices are not for the main stay of bikers. Comfort pack, its a bike 🤣🤣🤣
That’s trough of bowland my favourite place
its amazing
Brooks ‘n bladders? Reminds me of that notorious solo trip! 😄
Noooooo, having flashbacks 🤣
@@UsernameKate Still my favorite adventure. You don’t mind me keeping reminding you of it, do you? (He typed with an evil grin) 🤣
Came to this from TMFs review of the same bike. This review is far superior, I must say in every respect. You have really upped your game Kate. As for the bike, awesome but far too expensive.
...ah yes but Kate hasn't got man flu!!
I enjoyed yours thoroughly Andy 😊 but also appreciate the compliment Mikethebike
Thanks Kate for your insightful review. I have a 9rt pure and love it, but no quick shifter, fuel gauge or gear selector, is a bit annoying. ( I knew this when ordering). So why the heck it still has no fuel gauge by now, is mental. I wonder if they do a factory lowered option? Or a super low seat for us tiny women. Thanks again I’m gonna have a look at one asap now though.
Take care dear.
Overpriced but beautiful bike and love the blue colour forming on the pipe already. These bikes sound so good with an aftermarket exhaust. Kate you really should have your own show on Tv. Just seems natural and in times with showcasing bikes. Contact bbc or what evers the go in the uk. 😃
As a R9T owner, I miss the snorkel and billeted bracket under the seat. No rear hump as standard seems a ploy to make you pay more too.
The rear light and easy to remove pillion pegs are a nice touch.
Saw one at the NEC and I just felt like BMW had been cheap on a few bits.
I have the scrambler version of the BMW R nine T from the predecessor generation to the new bike here tested and very well reviewed on this video. The seat of my bike is ergonomically right but it’s a hard seat. The front suspension and due to the 19” wheel is very competent. But what I find unbearable after an our on the saddle is the rear suspension. Very poorly forgiving. Specially in road bumps and irregular asphalt roads. I have already tested this new iteration of the bike, now called the R 12 Nine T and the seat is much more comfortable than mine, in a distance of a million miles away. The rear suspension or the new chassis of the bike, I’m not sure, but one of them or both, turned the ride into a substantial more comfortable experience, with no concessions to the sporty feeling of the ride that if isn’t the same, it possibly is even more sensible and proactive to a more spirited ride than ever, don’t you agree?
This is not an irrelevant upgrade and modernization of the model, it seems to me, more like a big step up on quality of the ride. BMW probably stepped up a little their game, again. I’m wondering…and guessing, if they continue going on this climbing development it will come to a point where we’ll have to sell the family jewels to buy a BMW!
😅😂
Nice review Kate. As a long-time, former, owner of an R1200R I’d like to add my ten-peneth. It’s too bloody expensive. I hope that BMW will release a PURE version. That woud really sell. Also, regarding the lack of a fuel gauge. I dare bet they’re still using those crappy plastic fuel-sender strips that the R1200R came with. I had six of them fitted no time at all. Expensive. I now blame this crappy modern fuel for eating them. Best coal for me now….😅
Expensive if you want the extras but beautiful bike
No fuel gauge ? Just don’t get that. Great review btw. 👍
R12 ninety looks like a triumph classic
I hope they equiped it with a fuel gauge.
Hi Kate, I really enjoyed this review. Nice work. Cheers, Sean
Glad you enjoyed it!
Ducking and diving! I hate the way BMW pricing is all a bit of a guessing game. Has anyone actually ever seen - or purchased a bog standard one? Thanks for helping to demystify what you get … or don’t get for your money! 😂
I like the bike - a lot, but agree with other comments that you seem to have to pay extra for things that should be standard on a bike for that money! No fuel gauge? Seriously? Great review by the way! Thanks Kate.
Nice looking bike but 14000+ it’s out of the price range of loads of petrol , what dash need binoculars to see the smaller digits,if that’s what they now call a dash ,I’m really Father Christmas , the bike industry as gone nuts on pricing 😮 another good review 😊
It’s high on my list as looking for another shaft drive but i’m really not sure I can live without the fuel gauge (which is why I didn’t get the previous model). If any one knows an aftermarket solution I’d be interested. Is unrealistic for me to remember to note the mileage or set my zumo after each refill.
Great vid as always UNK. Thanks
Simply reset trip odometer, then trust the light. BMW Motorrad didn't forget.
Sadly there’s no chance id remember. Still tempted though.
I was a fan of rninet style2 (silver), so that option 719 version is quite attractive except bright red frame.
Don't understand too why they omitted the fuel gauge even though they added a digital dash.
Love the bike. I own a 2022 R1250R. For this motorbike however, a hard pass on the TFT. Two dials and a proper aluminum windscreen will do. I guess you would just use your trip odometer for fuel and when the low fuel light comes on what, maybe 30 miles away from empty? I don’t know.
That torquey boxer engine in that chassis just works. BMW just nailed that formula. ! A superb handling bike with smooth grunt. I miss my R9t.
I love my bmw as same as u hello miss Kate43 ❤❤❤❤
Got to have twin clocks😊
All video is 11.59 meee for me now 😂😂😂
Love this bike…..pricey though. Good review Kate.
chuffin' hell love, almost 20k for the 719 spec. tha's a lot o'brass
Lovely bike, but absolute money pit.
If they called it the R1290 no one would think the name is a bit of a mouthful, but somehow R12 Nine T is despite being the exact same mouthful.
Where are you riding? The roads looks great
It's Skyes to Marshaw 😊 near the area of Dunsop Bridge 😊
Hi Kate, what is the music from around 8.25? Thanks.
Ok 👏 super 👌😄 Kate
Excellent demo Kate 🎉R12/90 looks a hoot 🫶
Thank you! 😃
Nice bike. A bit more retro still then its predecessor but since retro is the new normal that doesn’t matter much. Nice proportions except that gap between the tank and the headstock. It’s good to a see bike with an uncluttered headstock again but this gap is a bit overdone.
